I walked by the other day and Cheryl’s has suddenly closed! Too bad, they had an awesome deal for a blowout.

I decided to try this place since it was close to my apartment but turned out to be a huge mistake :(What seemed like a 19 year old boy gave me an awful, choppy haircut. My hair was actually butchered. I was wincing the entire time he was cutting since he didn’t seem to know what he was doing and kept moving around with the scissors open in hand so I felt like he came close to accidentally taking off chunks of my hair as well. Not worth going here to save time and a few bucks. Now I have to live with this hair for a few months.

I agree with those who wrote about the blow out. If you are looking for a quick cheap easy blow out this is the place to go. This is NOT the place to get your nails done given there are a bunch of cheap places in Murray Hill that do a great job for the same price. I’ve even gotten haircuts here and thought they do a great job. My roommate didn’t like hers though so guess its really a toss up. BLOWOUTS = Yes NAILS = No Sometimes if I need a last minute manicure I will get it done while I do my hair but thats really only if I’m running out of time and my event is that day or the next day. The nails will not last more than a day.

If you want a cheap and quick blowout in NYC this is your place. I can’t speak for their mani/pedis but the people who work here are always super nice. I generally go for a massage and blowout which costs $ 30 total. You can’t beat that!

I moved to the neighborhood on 2010 and the place was very convenient. I was going at least once a week, I didn’t need an appointment, it was cheap, quite clean, very fast, not too much talking/selling etc and I could do there everything(mani-pedi-hair color/cut-wax eye brows, nail tips etc). Last year as i understood the management changed and I changed completely my mind for the place, I went two last times and never again. The place wasn’t clean, They wanted to do my feet with a razor and they bleached my hair so much that my scalp was red and in pain for a month and my hair completely damaged. They couldn’t understand that in order to take out the yellow you don’t bleach a head 3 times on a raw you do something else… Never ever again, they lost a very good client. Noone said sorry and the lady insisted that I had to give 20 $ tip to my colorist that did awful job because he is still learning…

I went in for a mani pedi and the woman asked if I’d like a callus treatment as well, which I accepted. She made my feet bleed. I couldn’t walk right for 3 days after. They are inexperienced and unapologetic.

I would NEVER get my nails done here – I agree with the previous posters, the place doesn’t seem hygienic. However, they do a shockingly good job on my hair for the same low price I was paying to have students do it before.

The manicures are cheap, but with good reason – cleanliness is lacking. I didn’t notice an autoclave and I didn’t notice their metal tools being taken out of an autoclave. No biggie. I just told the nail tech no cutting. When the nail tech whipped out a used disposable emory board, I sort of wanted to bolt. I opted to stick to a polish-application-only service. Which is fine. I can paint my own nails, but when I do it usually looks like some monkeys got loose in a paint store. I’m happy to pay someone else to apply the paint. I wish I could give this spot a better review than this, because my nail tech was sweet and appeared to be doing her best with what she had. I’d go back if I were bringing my own supplies. This is not a good bet for walk-ins, since you’d really need to BYO supplies to get a hygienic manicure.
