Not that $ 0.15 is worth getting upset over, but you can’t just round up because it’s convenient for you. If a drink is advertised to be $ 1.95 and I bought 3, then my credit card should’ve been charged $ 5.85, not $ 6. That’s false advertising. Shame on you. :(

Want to grab a quick breakfast meal? Then this is the spot! Been here lots of times since its very close to where I work. I like their bagels which you can pick whatever spread you want, like cream cheese, butter, etc. they have coffee, juices too. On the summer time I usually come here for ice cream & walk in the park nearby.

First let me say that the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The reason for the low rating is b/c of the food. These ppl aren’t chefs nor do they appear to have any culinary training — they are just friends/family who decided to open a café. I ordered a grilled cheese and got the wrong bread, the wrong cheese and the bread was lightly toasted w/the cheese cold and uncooked. Yuk! They were nice enough to re-do it but I was still given the wrong bread, the wrong cheese and the sandwich came out overcooked/lightly burnt. I didn’t’ feel like giving it a 3rd try, so I just left. The store also has a heavy burning grease smell that sticks to your skin and clothes for up to an hour after you leave. I guess they have no ventilation? They have a huge shelf full of pastries that look old. This place is a disaster.

For a quick bite this place is great and the price is very reasonable. I had a bagel with cream cheese and medium coffee for less than 4 dollars. For the surrounding area you definitely can’t beat that price.

Don’t waste your time with these guys. They are lazy and nasty. If you get anywhere their front door with a dog they yell«No Dogs!» Um thanks geniuses! And they are too lazy to make an egg sandwich after a certain time(You think your Mcdonald’s?) Clearly they don’t want customers or to make money so just go a block south to Gristede’s, they have a great deli and are actually polite(Imagine that? Customer service?)

I wandered in to Café Express on the way to the office looking to grab a cup of coffee and something for breakfast. The store looks like a typical small convenience store, but the egg sandwich I had was fantastic and the coffee was good too. I would recommend the everything bagel with egg, cheese, and ham. This place was great for a quick, cheap breakfast and I would definitely go back.

By all appearance Café Express is an ordinary café where you can run to for soups, sandwiches, pasta, pizzas, and burgers. Should you be adventurous some day, walk to the middle eastern food section where they have lamb and chicken shish kebab and Pita sandwiches. They offer the choice of greens, peppers and yogurt and hot sauce. I get the Pita and it is yummy and packed with flavor. Not being a fan of street food I almost never get this stuff so it’s nice to see an established café like Café Express where the quality is just as good as what you can get elsewhere but much cleaner.

Small café with the bare minimums, but their inventory is so good! I was hesitant to try their peanut butter froyo, but the guy gave me a sample and I was hooked. A small cost $ 2.90, but a few bites in and I was done with mine so a «small» is probably a medium elsewhere. Definitely excited to come back and try their coffees and chais because I saw they sell the Chai Me! brand.

I was around the area visiting a friend when I was hungry for frozen yogurt. Since he told me that there wasn’t a Pinkberry around, this was the best option. At least according to him. It looked like a regular convenient store. Actually, come to think of it, it looks like one of those convenient stores that you go to by a gas station. You know the very small, longated space they use for those kinds of stores? Anyways, the store was tiny and looked slightly rundown. Just slightly. I guess what I’m trying to say is that they don’t even bother to make their store look appealing. Te people that work there can be a bit intimidating. They carry donuts, frozen yogurt, sorbet and ice cream and most likely coffee and the usual sandwich items. I ordered a large frozen yogurt which cost $ 3.95(a little over half of what Pinkberry charges) and in a styrofoam cup. I thought that was rather ghetto. And the large is not even a large. But then I remember that I am by the Financial District. I’ll quit complaining. lol I was happy I got the plain-tart flavor frozen yogurt but wasn’t pleased when I tasted it. It tasted sour and no, it doesn’t taste like the sour like how yogurt is supposed to be but the sour like it might be old. I can’t say and it probably isn’t the case but I guess it didn’t suit me so well. I finished eating the whole thing either way. The large cup was small. I The one other thing I ordered was the Fat-Free Raisin Bran Muffin that was surprisingly pretty good. It was tiny and cost $ 1.75 and was moist and delicious. If I ever come back to this store, I would only get the muffins. I’ll stray far, far away from that styrofoam cup. Most likely, I’ll probably just walk a little further for a better option.

Tomato bisque was good. Panini grilled while I waited. It was also tasty. No place to sit. There’s a park next to it.

Sigalle B.‘s review captures Café Express perfectly. Yes, the egg sandwiches are the best thing at this place. The staff is usually very nice, but some times there is a guy who won’t make the egg sandwich during the evening time. But if you’re in luck you’ll get the guy who will fry up an egg for me at 2:00AM. The paninis are a little weak and run around $ 5.00 — $ 6.00. But they are sufficient if you need a filling meal. Café Express does have some pretty good chocolate chip cookies if you get them fresh. I just have to be glad to have a place like this open 24/7, not for the food, but for the piece of mind.

A small store located right in between Gateway Plaza and the World Financial Building, Café Express is open 24 hours and serves everything from breakfast sandwiches and coffee to ice cream and paninis. The staff is also always friendly. The food is not wonderful but it is decent. If you are looking for something quick, cheap, and convenient — café express does not fail to accommodate. Tips: The coffee is not steaming hot so if you like a lot of milk in your coffee I would recommend putting a bit less or else your coffee becomes lukewarm. Get the egg white and cheese sandwiches(with salt, pepper, and ketchup) — they are so cheap and will fill you through the day.
