A class act all around. An owner/manager who remembers your voice(no formal reservations) and sets aside comfy corner seating for you. Attractive servers who you want to join your party. Warm and inviting exposed brick and upscale décor. Great happy hours. Karaōke with the WHOLEBAR/LOUNGE cheering you on. Unique and tasty appetizers. A lovely outside patio. BUT, the best part is a boisterous, good looking crowd who welcomes you no matter who you may be. Such a great vibe that starts with the owner/management who genuinely treat you like family. Proud to have such an establishment in my neighborhood. Way to be, Brownstone, and thank you for showing my old friends some BIGHARLEMLOVE. I’m afraid I may become a fixture in no time. I can’t believe people have taken issue with the dress code – it’s quite simple – «for the guys, wear a shirt with a collar” – that’s it.

Been there twice and my experiences were good. I enjoy supporting new venues. I like the space, the tunes and even the drinks but, the crowd is a little old for me(a 20 something). If you’re in the neighborhood check them out, it maybe just the place for you!

This place is still the worst place in Harlem for those looking for a relaxing upscale experience. Please read my previous review for more detail on the deplorable nature of the staff. Not only do they harass potential customers in person, but now they resort to slandering me online through Unilocal.«Stacy G.” — whoever you are– I never got thrown out of that hell-hole of a lounge, and the only thing I’ve ever bought their was a glass of champagne, in the hopes of warding off the drug dealers menacing around and slobbering over me and my hot girlfriends. I would never get drunk at a place such as your establishment, because it’s not safe. Improve your business ethics and stop resorting to ridiculous accusations of incidents that never happened. Warning to all: stay below 135th street in Harlem– and definitely stay out of this Red Rooster wannabe. This place will never get my business.

Great music and a good vibe. The crowd wasn’t really my type, everyone was in their mid-30s and some 40s. I enjoyed the dancing and the drinks were strong enough for me so two thumbs up!

I was pleasantly surprised by this venue. I do not often hang out in Harlem, but I would come back here again. The crowd was«mature» but still lively, lol. I think I drank there, can’t really remember because I was dancing, a lot. Great music at this venue. I would travel back there again, all the way from LIC.

Throw your old polo shirt in the laundry before coming here because men MUSTWEARPOLOS in this ‘establishment.’ I use that term lightly because it does not seem established and most likely will not be. I was so disappointed in this place because it’s the only bar in the area. They should be doing amazing business however each time I’ve strolled by it’s been empty. Now I know why. I went with a group of friends on a early saturday evening. We got far enough through the door to see that there was ZEROCUSTOMERS in the bar before the bouncer stopped us. We were turned away because the male in our group had a tshirt on. There was no one in the place and he turned us away. We will not be returning to this place. They seem too scared to let in the ‘local customers’ of harlem and their solution to their fear seems to be a crazy dress code thats not even posted outside. We are all young professionals and were dressed nicely in cute tops, jeans and slacks. They felt the need to turn away their only possible customers. A local bar should be embracing the local atmosphere, people, and vibe, at least when they first open, before deciding to turn into the popular high school kid and turn people away. Wear your formal attire. Bring your prom gown. I will not be returning.

I went there for a «Harlem4Obama» Birthday Party/Campaign Launch for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Nice ambience, wonderful sangrias, nice vibe, and food(I had the mac and cheese — delicious). They were overwhelmed with so many people but they were working hard to accomodate so many. As for Cass who showed up in shorts and flip flops and was surprised they would not accomodate her or her husband — most establishments have a minimum dress code. The fact that the establishment is in Harlem does not make it any less deserving of having standards. Nor should their prices be any less because it’s «Harlem.» A $ 6 beer is fairly standard at most venues throughout NYC. Try Applebee’s next time. I’m sure you can get a $ 5 beer there and be seated with shorts and flip flops.

Wonderful ambiance. Friendly staff. The music is always great. I’ve been there enough to know with time this place will only get better and will be in the community for years to come. Heck I’m not much of a drinker and I always have a blast. Enjoy!

The Brownstone Lounge is a gem on stretch of blocks on Frederick Doulgass that doesn’t have many amenities. The décor is wonderful, and it’s nice to have another spot to support in the neighborhood! Though it’s a few blocks from the 145th Street express trains, it’s well worth a trip to this place. Plus, they have happy hour.

This place strikes me as the kind of place Londel may have tried to create if he had the ability to expand his restaurant and add a lounge. The food is great, as far as I can tell. I had the shrimp cocktail, which was more like a ceviche in flavor and texture… still very tasty! The drinks were on point and the service was good. Our server Todd was very attentive. The décor and atmosphere is really what sold me from jump. It was super chill – I didn’t even mind the price-point(expect some very downtown bar/lounge prices, $ 11 for top-shelf mixed drinks, $ 13 for top-shelf martini). I will definitely be returning to this fine establishment… I just hope it can hang tough in Harlem.

Love it. The space has a great design that really uses all of the nooks and crannies and I can’t wait for the downtownstairs club/dance floor to open up. This place was NEEDEDSOBADINTHISNEIGHBORHOOD and FINALLY!!! It opens. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Drinks are well priced to keep the losers & riff-raf outside, but it certainly doesn’t break the bank. HIGHLY recommended for professional networking and parties. Men: wear a collard shirt. Women: Dress it up sexy style.
