Not a good experience here at all today. Man came here with my mom to have lunch still celebrating my birthday. However we were seated outside waiting to served took a while for our order to be taken. The server however was very abrupt not warm and welcoming at all. I placed an order for something that I usually get as starters. It wasn’t on the menu at the time. He then asked if I ever had there before, I told him yes that is why I know to order it. While taking our order his attitude was one of a person that was trying to hurry up and take our order like he can’t be bothered. My mom was so turned off that she didn’t even want to order. One thing I don’t we don’t play with is bad service. Toku has a high standard that needs to be upheld. So I don’t expect to be treated like I’m less than, or viewed like I’m not a values customer or client at this point. Of course we got up and left and I will reach out to the management that has taken care of my issues precocious issues I have had with this restaurant in the pass. Sadly I’m headed down to their other restaurant Bryant and Cooper let’s see what happens.

Been here many times. The food is what is expected at a Japanese restaurant, never a bad meal, the appetizers are really the show stealer — the octopus carpaccio and kobe beef bbq are everything. I often get the miso black cod or seared salmon, healthy and lean however I find their main courses lack flavor. And for some reason I find the menu kind of boring. The scene is fun and energizing.

Walked in on Sunday around dinner time and was promptly greeted and sat by Alyssa at the font. I asked for some recommendations based on my preference for drinks and was definitely NOT disappointed. Drinks were tasty and unique. We also got the shrimp tempura roll to snack on– delicious! Definitely a great place for a date or trendy night out.

I love this place, it’s our go to place, will live nearby, and have never had a bad meal, it’s always great. The salmon cannot be beat anywhere… I also recommend the spicy salmon roll, the chicken soup, sliders and of course the duck is amazing… Always a fun crowd and Vibe at Toku as well… For sure its worth a try…

Good local place for Asian food was. Food is good but not great. Service here is mediocre at best. Not many other options on the North Shore and seems like they’re pretty busy at all times. Wouldn’t be my first choice for dinner but not too bad.

Totally worth it. Some of the best japanese/sushi I’ve ever had. You cant go wrong with anything that you order. My favorite restaurant.

Everything is yummy… the cocktails, the giant salads, the steak, the tiradito. Just a bit too pretentious. Chill out with the dim lighting and Miami beach elevator music(literally the same thing on repeat all night) and I would be more excited to return. Slightly overpriced, but especially with the salads you get a lot of food.

I have been to Toku several times. My dining experience at this restaurant has always been pleasant. I mainly dine here for special celebrations such as birthdays and anniversaries. Four items on the menu have become my all time favorites. While I have tried other dishes, the Lobster Tacos, Charred Filet of Beef, Toku Fries, & Banana Wonton have stood out to me. These dishes are seriously delicious!

Located in the expensive American Manhasset, you should already know you are walking into an overpriced dining establishment. I’ve been here around 8 – 10 times now – there have been hits and misses. The crunchy rice with spicy tuna, Asian Caesar salad, and kung pao chicken dishes are my favorites. If you order those 3 items, you should be okay. However, the service experienced during my most recent visit was abysmal and completely unacceptable. It seemed like our table was completely forgotten for long stretches of time. This most recent experience has really turned us off.

Toku, is an «Asian Fusion» restaurant featuring«modern Asian cuisine». The setting is reminiscent to a French restaurant, high ceilings, and a long sushi bar with a variety of fish. I ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna, and was pleasantly surprised. The rice was soft inside a hard shell of some kind of batter. The rock shrimp followed and was good, like any other good rock shrimp. We also ordered the yellowtail with ponzu, which was good(and it shall not be shamed because so many other restaurants do the nobu thing). For the main course, I ordered the wagyu steak frites and was not very happy after finding it well done instead of medium rare. The waiters were nice, but did SOMANY things that were not necessary, including their speech of how they were so terribly sorry. «Just give me a new steak!» The next steak was very very good. It was seasoned well and was DAMN tender. The sauce was weird however, reminiscent of something Cajun and«pear». What was that about? Also, the Bok choy’s leaves were overcooked, and the stems were hard and undercooked The dessert was weird. I ordered ice cream, but apparently they come only in three scoops, which also seemed weird. The waiter came In as he served us telling us that they just found out that sesame wasn’t available. Overall, Toku was a good Long Island spot, but there were a lot of weird things and things that were definitely not necessary. The food however, was pretty great.

This is the 3rd time I’ve been here. Boy this visit trumps my previous visits! The receptionist guy looked like he was annoyed seeing Asians come to this restaurant. I told him it would be my birthday the next day and if there would be any complimentary birthday desserts. He had to think about it for a minute before saying«we can arrange something.» His attitude already ticked me off and now he uses«can» I don’t know douche bag, can you?! It should’ve been«we’ll arrange something for you. Happy birthday!» Or at least a «Happy birthday» would be nice. Terrible atmosphere and service!

Came here for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night with a 6pm reservation. It took us a while to order because everything on the menu sounded amazing. The rock shrimp appetizer was out of this world! Service was phenomenal, food was phenomenal, atmosphere was phenomenal. Our waiter found the humor in our family and made us laugh the whole time. We ate outside under their canopy it was great. We loved everything about it. No complaints! We will definitely be back!

Came in for sushi. My bf has been here prior and he has always raved about it. So we made an open table reservation When we arrived it was decently packed but not too crazy for 130 in the afternoon… When we came to the hostess station we told the gentleman we had a reservation and he said my name 2 times so naturally you think he «checked me in» via the computer. And escorted us to the back to be seated. Décor is very modern well light during lunch im Sure doing the dinner hour the lights are dim. Service was great. Food came out fairly prompt i ordered the maki lunch sushi meal. It came with choice of 3 maki type rolls. Was a little disappointed that these were very«basic rolls» i choose eel avocado, king crab roll and spicy tuna… For some reason i feel like i have had better sushi. I really enjoyed the salad they gave you a great portion nicely dressed! When we left i told my bf could he just check the app to make sure they applied the open table points. It wasnt applied so he called(since i was driving) to inquire if it takes awhile for them To apply the points as i havent had this problem in the past at other establishments. The phone rang a good 3 times before a young lady by i think the name amanda answered. While he had her on speaker he explained that we just left the establishment and wanted to make sure they applied the points. She searches and says oh we have you down as a missed reservation… So she started to get a little frustrated and said really fast well just make a new one ill click off okay. And abrubtly hung up. I told him just make it and we will wait awhile before we call to check it. Hours later i decided to check and she did apply it. But that still left me with a bad taste in my mouth with how her tone was on the phone.

In my family, there’s never a shortage of hype for Toku, and I’ve only been more and more baffled by it with age. Look, I get the idea that fusion and overall dining experience are meant to be part of why you pay three times as much for that much fried rice, but NOT when it’s still just the same fried rice underneath that XO sauce and pineapple foam or whatever. The waiters look and sound miserable – miserable as all waiters must be anyway – but they’re not in some roadside or city diner or big chain restaurant. Ok, I can’t vouch for other parties, but my family always tips 20%. Either the food is just not up to par with the club-ish-ly lit atmosphere, or it just doesn’t match. I feel like I shouldn’t be eating such rich, heavy and salty food here, much less talking to the people I’m sitting with over the outrageous din. Meh, the glass noodles are okay.

After my original Unilocal review from two years ago, I have since returned to Toku countless times and now firmly believe that it fully deserves a perfect 5-star rating. I have tried almost everything off their creative food and drink menu, and have never been disappointed. The service and atmosphere is top-notch, and restaurants rarely get better than this. Yes, it can get expensive, but you get what you pay for. My personal favorites: Spicy Tuna Tartare(ask for both wonton chips and cucumber slices on the side), Lobster Salad, Grilled Duck and Lychee Skewers(I literally have daydreams about this appetizer), Kobe Riverstone BBQ, Chilean Sea Bass, Shrimp XO Pilaf, and their Americana sushi roll. The fig martini is a staple of my regular visits, as well. Whether for lunch or dinner, Toku delivers excellence.
