The Candia Road Brewing Co. & Nepenthe Ale House

Came in tonight to buy my husband a Christmas gift! Helpful guy (Tom? Tommy?) talked me through all the home brewing equipment and the process. Even brought me back to where they’re brewing their own beer to show me how a certain measurement works (so my beer doesn’t explode like it did last time!) very patient with all my questions can’t wait to go back.

Picked out 3 different selections this mourning & have partook in the Solo Springer (lawn-​mower Ale) & the Whimsical Wheat this evening & liked the Whimsical best so far. I look forward to trying other selections soon.

Called over on a Monday in need of some yeast for a batch of cider not knowing the shop is closed on Mondays. They picked up the phone, answered my questions, made some recommendations etc (generally providing great service) before telling me that if I wanted to drop by that day they’d have to make some special arrangements to walk the yeast over to their sister business as he was not planning on being there all day. It dawns on me to look at their hours of operation and I realize they are helping me out on their day off. When he found out I worked just down the road a bit he encouraged me to go ahead and come on by right away if I preferred as he was planning on being around for awhile longer. Got there to find the door open and got friendly service for my quick purchase.
Made a return visit tonight so I could poke around a bit more during their normal hours of operation. The head brewer was in and consistent with some other reviewer comments was really helpful in an unpretentious kind of way. Shared some much needed information on cider making then took me through some of their beer offerings, several of which I purchased with interest but have yet to sample.
Great shop, super service, knowledgeable and helpful owners. Pretty dang happy to have this shop only moments away on my commute home from work.
Highly recommended if you brew at all or are interested in getting started.

This is a review of the beer only.
Picked up a bottle of Hop-​Ful IPA from the Nepenthe Ale Series and it was pretty tasty. Not as up front as I would hope for an IPA names Hop-​Ful, but it was still pretty good. The beer is described as having a strong malt backbone, however.
I am looking forward to checking out some of the other in the series as well.

I had a chance tonight to talk to the brewer here at an event (after visiting the shop earlier in the day.) The guy was super cool to talk to and didn’t have any of the pretense that some brewers have when talking to the public. He answered all of my questions and was really forthcoming on the details on some of his products and processes.
The price on US-​05 was the best I have seen and the fact that the brewer was as down-​to-​earth as he was will have me coming back again.

Great store and great staff very knowlageable super helpful and they have everything I’d want to rew or make wine
