I bought a groupon to take my friend for her birthday for a tour and tasting. I emailed but was told the morning of, so I did. When I called the woman said they actually did not do tours on weekends but said she would see what she could do. One of the brewers came in on his day off to give us a tour! All the staff were super nice and made sure we had a good time! The food was great, and the beer/drinks were awesome. It was nice and refreshing to come to a place where they accommodated their guests even if they didn’t have too!

food was okay, but they began to break down the entire restaurant while we were mid meal for a event. literally every table and chair was dragged away and stacked in the corner while we just sat there with no warning. also did not receive the correct change

Stark Mill or the artist formerly known as Milly’s Tavern offers up a wide variety of microbrews and local flavor. It’s family friendly, but also caters to a much more eclectic crowd during certain hours. Call ahead if this is more your speed. Stop in, grab a seat at the bar and ask one of the helpful staff if you can sample one of their latest offerings. You won’t be disappointed. They offer a full menu, growlers to go, brewery tours(again call ahead) and a scenic view of the historic Manchester Mill Buildings. Plus you’re within walking distance to downtown, Fisher Cat Stadium or relaxing on park benches over looking the Merrimack River. Mention«J. Matt D.» and you’ll be offered an opportunity to join their mug club membership… or they’ll politely ask you to leave. ;)

I used Unilocal to find this place. Be careful with the parking — there is a parking lot behind the building right along the river. The parking lot was packed when I arrived on a weeknight — and there some parking spots farther to the right — but as I started to park I noticed a sign stating these spots are reserved for the building next door — and that your vehicle would be towed. Not sure if they would follow through on this threat at night — so I found one parking spot in the area reserved for the building that Stark Brewing is located within. Stark Brewing Co. is the name of the brewery — which is located inside of Milly’s Tavern. Milly’s Tavern actually«serves» the brews — as well as having a full food menu. Flights come in flights of 6 or 8. I ordered the flight of 8 and selected the following brews to sample: Mt. Uncanoonuc Golden Cream Ale(4.3% ABV) Amoskeag Harvest Ale(4.8% ABV) Manch-Vegas IPA(5.4% ABV) Hopzilla DIPA(8.8% ABV) Bison’s Black IPA(5.5% ABV) Grumpy Pumpkin Ale(5.0% ABV) General John Stark Dark Porter(5.4% ABV) Milly’s Oatmeal Stout(4.9% ABV) None of the brews made me go «Wow,» but I also did not drink any of them and think«yuck.» Overall, a solid, middle-of-the-road beer offering. I’d have to say I probably liked the Bison’s Black IPA the best if I had to pick one. A lot of locals like this place as it was pretty busy on a Wednesday evening! The bar servers were very nice. I think the name of mine was was a young lady named Kayleigh. She checked on me several times to see how I was doing.

Great service most of the time, good atmosphere, decent beer, great happy hour specials. I distinctly remember getting a brew tour by the owner. I was impressed by the amount of time he gave us.

Came here with my family on the way back from vacation in the mountains. They were great with my daughter. The beer was good. The service was friendly. Food was pretty solid, if not super interesting. I am definitely looking forward to a return here and think it may become a bit of holiday tradition to stop in.

This was my third time at Milly’s for lunch. The first time was great, great food and beer, although the bathrooms could have used a good cleaning. The second time I went, my husband and I just got beers at the bar. We were quite uncomfortable when the manager/owner looking man began yelling at a bar tender for using her phone. A professional manager would have calmly had this conversation in a more private area instead of embarrassing her in front of customers. We hadn’t gone back because of this instance until yesterday. The bar tender who served us yesterday was very helpful and attentive, the nachos were delicious, and we enjoyed the beer sampler. The sample sizes were pretty small for the price. You can pay the same price for 5 samples that are triple the size at Great North Aleworks. The manager guy was here again and still seemed grumpy and unapproachable. Not someone who should be working in service. We may come back here in the future but not as a top choice.

This bar has a great setup with lots of nice TVs; we were there to watch the presidential debates, and there were great views of the TVs and plenty of seats. Service was very slow as they were so busy and understaffed for the occasion. Our server was seriously working hard!!! We ordered the black and blue burger medium rare and it came out with just the tiniest bit of barely pink meat(the size of a nickel), the rest brown. The ice cream on brownie is poorly made, nothing special, as both are of mediocre quality. The manager came by to help us with our free 8 oz beer for checking in on Unilocal(whoo hoot!) and he was really friendly. It was really nice to have a place to eat and watch the debates!

I love Milly’s. The beer is really good and the food is solid. The only downside is the service, which is almost always pretty slow. However, the place is usually pretty busy, so most of the time, you can easily forgive this aspect. The waitstaff is always really friendly, too. I only mention the slow service as a caveat. It isn’t that big a deal to me because I like this place a lot overall. It’s a perfect place to come with a group of friends and just hang out. My current obsession is the Hopzilla, which is Milly’s double IPA. But they have a great porter too. And the oatmeal stout is fantastic. For food, they have great wings and good nachos, but the rest of the menu is solid as well if you’re looking for something more substantial.

I really wanted to like this place however I have never had a good experience with the service or management here. I gave them a few chances since I’ve heard great things about their beer and pub food. A am a big IPA fan and love happy hour deals for draft beer! The oatmeal stout is delicious. Very cool place an the old mill style building however I will not be going back. Customer service is a must and this place lacks it :-(

Wife and I went here mainly for the beers and nachos, first timers. Great vibe, great beer selection. Bartender Lindsay was terrific, took good care of us. It was a Sunday afternoon, pretty quiet. We will go back another time to try more of the food. And beer natch. By the way, we tried an 8-beer sampler and each beer was completely different. Don’t believe any of the ridiculous reviews where people claim all the beer tastes the same. They must have been numb going into the place.

Milly’s Tavern. Before I begin, let me note that the« Unilocal Tagline» highlights«Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt» as search terms for Milly’s. What the hell is that about? If you’re ordering Frozen Yogurt at Milly’s, you must be more loaded than Charlie Sheen on a Friday night. I digress… Beer– Milly’s has quite a lot on draft. While some of the brews are mediocre, I respect what they are doing here. The highlight is Milly’s Oatmeal Stout– no doubt. They are writing the book on Oatmeal Stouts and it’s worth your time. I also hear they are making a some good Pumpkin Ale during Fall but pumpkin beer is not my thing. Food– This is where Milly’s misses the mark. We’ve had some bad food here and it leaves much to be desired. I don’t have any food recommendations for you to try here. Stick to the beer and leave the food for somewhere else. Atmosphere– Milly’s is a great spot during Winter or Fall. It’s underground with lots of exposed brick They have a standard brewery feel/look with a chalkboard displaying what’s on draft. It’s looks clean and they have clean facilities. Staff– Meh. Depends on who is working. You can get great folks who treat you well, just as easily as you can get people who will be happy throw the stink eye at you. Overall– Go to Milly’s. Try the beer sampler and stay for awhile with some friends. You won’t regret it at all. Just don’t expect anything that’s going to blow your socks off.

Stopped in for a quick lunch on our way to Logan Airport. Fresh breaded onion rings were a hit! Friendly server and good sandwiches. Would stop again.

We recently had lunch at Milly’s Tavern, and it’s too bad that it was such a poor experience. It is a unique spot! When you enter the bar, you see all sorts of brewing equipment behind the bar. There are a good amount of tables, and on some nights they even have live music. Let me start by saying that the beers here(for the most part) are fantastic. The value here is good too, especially at happy hour during the week. That being said, we came in for lunch, and it took 5 – 10 minutes for someone to come over. The server was cold throughout service: never asked us how the food was, etc. She only brought out the drinks, the food, and the check. She just acted like serving us was an inconvenience. One of the worst experiences we’ve ever had with service. We ordered the chicken tenders with hot sauce as an appetizer. They were OK: half-sauced, served over cold fries, and with no dipping sauce(blue cheese, ranch, etc.). The tenders actually tasted pretty good, almost sweet, but the rest of the dish was poorly executed. For an entrée, I ordered the Blues Burger. Again it tasted OK, but it was overcooked and a bit dry. I understand that this is pub food and not supposed to be fine dining, but you’d expect the food to at least be on par with the beer. All in all a poor experience. We have had mixed results here in the past, but unfortunately because of the poor service and mediocre food, we will probably not return.

Manchester’s only brewery is owned by the most unpleasant man alive. Old man Pete cares about one thing and one thing only and that’s the sweet, sweet money. The beer here is decent, the food is only ok, but there is usually some band or something going on and you don’t have to hang out with the Elm St. crowds when you’re down here. It might be worth a check out if you’re in the area and are a beer fan.

I will start with the positives, they have a nice selection of house brewed beers. Got a beer sampler. A couple of them were pretty good. That is the only positives to this place. The service was terrible. It took twenty five minutes to get the beer after we ordered it. The food took forty five minutes after we ordered it. They apologized and said they got a large party that they weren’t prepared for. Okay, I understand that but forty five minutes for a plate of nachos? They nachos were ok, with fresh vegetables and moderately priced but forty five minutes with just a sorry. Our server was inattentive and mostly unseen. I will not go back to this place.

Been here many times, and each time it gets worse. I will never go back. Service is horrible. Takes 30 minutes to get a beer if you sit at a table, took over an hour to get a burger. The management was unprofessional, beer is inconsistent in flavor. Lost myself as customers and many others. This place will close down again soon because of bad ownership.

If you’re like me and have to visit every brewery ever, you’re going to have to come here. Just get the stout, it’s actually ok. The other 7 beers in the sampler we ordered were just plain bad. This seems like a 90’s brewpub that really needs to up their game. It’s too bad, since the space itself is in the basement of an old mill and could be really great. Service wasn’t good either, it shouldn’t take 15+ minutes to get one sampler in a half empty bar.

After we walked out of here my partner said«well at least we never have to go back there.» I could not have agreed more. First off, we did not eat. Nor would I after seeing the state of things behind the bar and in the bathroom. Gross. We visit a lot of breweries and beer bars, and we came to sample beers. The stout was fine, but there was no discernible taste difference in the other 7 beers we drank. Service was mediocre and slow, when all we wanted to do was leave and never look back.
