I believe that signing my son up for music lessons is one of the best things I’ve ever done for him. A few years ago, he was thinking he wanted to take guitar lessons, and I started looking around at local music ads and coupons to figure out where to sign him up. I have always taken my time and done my homework when registering for this level of commitment, so when I finally determined that Let’s Play Music would be the school, we had been to a Recycled Percussion show and my son was very adamant that he wanted to be a drummer instead. I started by emailing the school and received speedy, friendly responses that answered all of my questions. I found them to have plenty of flexibility as far as time slots, including evenings, which was perfect for my schedule. Flash forward a year and a half later, and my son has developed quite the talent. It amazes me how much one can learn in such a short period of time, how he can go from a simple beat with the first lesson to reading sheet music today and providing me with my own private rock concert with his daily practice in the basement. If you have a child that is unsure of himself and abilities, this can bring on a level of confidence like nothing else. I am so proud of him and his desire to keep progressing. As far as his instructor, Bill, he is a true pro who has been playing for decades(sorry, Bill-not trying to make you sound old!). He is encouraging, yet corrects as often as needed. He has a very calm manner about him and this definitely helps when my son is feeling discouraged by not producing the right sound or technique. My husband and I are thrilled to have him, and appreciate all he has done for our son. For a small additional monthly fee, my son has joined a rock band through the school, and will be able to compete in the battle of the bands competition next year. His teacher, Daniel, is also amazing, and so great with kids. The band is a very important aspect to kind of put together what my child has learned and figure out how to play in synch. It has only been a few months, so that part is being worked on, but I have the utmost confidence that they will work it out and I can’t wait to see their first show! The students, including beginners, have the opportunity to perform in the weekend-long New England Musical Festival, I believe it is called, at least once per year that I know of. My kid received 2 trophies, and played in front of others for the first time. It was one of his proudest days and it made him more sure than ever that drumming is for him. Pricing is about the same as elsewhere, but I know they put out coupons for the first month of lessons. Sign up is easy, and the owners and staff are pleasant and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
