I have been hearing for many years that Juliana’s Sari-Sari Store would branch out into the restaurant business. So when I finally heard from friends that it did, I had to check it out. I always believe that we need more Filipino restaurants in the area as they will give more choices to Filipinos and Americans alike. First thing to note is that this place opens relatively early(8 a.m.). I asked the owner Steve Hall if their longganisa, tapa and bangus were made by them and he said yes. I tried their longsilog and it was delicious! The sago at gulaman was really good too. Steve said he starts making pandesal at 5:30 a.m. everyday. I hope to try their fresh bread one day. They have a consultant who is visiting from Abu Dhabi. The latter has a Filipino restaurant in that part of the United Arab Emirates. She also happens to be Elsie’s sister. Elsie and Steve Hall recommended that customers call in their orders before they proceed to the restaurant as they really take time to prepare the dishes from scratch. Steve pointed out the nostalgic pictures of the Philippines which were framed around the restaurant. He got some of them from American missionaries who were there more than a hundred years ago. I have to admit that there are some photos which I have not seen before in books or magazines.
