SADLY, he sold the business to another business and not remotely close nor have we found anything close to the way Rebar cooked his meals. .compare all Kabob food to Rebar’s, as we miss his food till this day. We hope he is happily retired Teresa & Arlene

Under new management! No longer called Charcoal Kabob! It was bought by another Kabob restaurant and just about everything has changed.

I believe they are under new ownership/management. I had been in many times over the years, and went in recently. The décor, physical menu, food items on the menu, owner, and employees were all different. I’m sad to say the kabob place we knew and loved is no longer.

Based on the reviews about this place, I am scratching my head and wondering if I ate at the right place, or was most the reviewers starving when they ate here. Because, if you are starving, hell anything will taste like five stars. First things first, the name«charcoal chicken and kabob»…when you walk into a place with a name like this and you don’t smell one briquette, I mean nada, it might be a problem. And it was! Ok let’s move on and get to it! I ordered the lamb and chicken combo. I should have silenced the lamb and went with the chicken only. Now I see why Hannibal Lector was so angry! The lamb had no exciting spices or wow factor. The chicken was much better, but still nothing to cluck about. Now we get to the platter. First of all, there was enough rice in there for me to throw it at the next 5 Kim Kardashian’s weddings and it had something that looked and tasted like skoal smokeless tobacco on top. The chickpeas was flavorless, had no spices. I swear I’ve had better beanie weenies. I don’t know if the dipping sauce that accompanied the platter was tzatziki or not, but I know it was too-wiki. I am now starting to wonder if my fellow Unilocalers are playing some kind of cruel joke on me by over inflating their ratings, just to see if I will run and try it.

I had the chicken kabob at Charcoal Chicken & Kabob today for lunch. 5 star rating affirmed. While the chicken is excellent, the rice, chickpeas, and especially the yogurt sauce are the reason I eat here so often. I mix the chickpeas, which come in their own delicious liquid, and the thin, tangy yogurt sauce into the rice, which is dusted with little red flecks of sumac. Scooped up with a piece of the excellent flat bread, the flavor is light, delicious, and deeply satisfying. The rice portion is generous. The chicken kabobs are always cooked to order over a charcoal grill, and served with a char grilled tomato and onion wedge. Easily in the top five restaurants in Manassas, and by far the best kabob place.

My wife and I visited here many many many nights for dinner and lunches when we lived in Manassas for 2 years. Then we moved to Tyson’s Corner and still drove all the way fighting the 66 nightmare traffic just to have lunch at this great place. The owner is a really great guy super friendly and makes some amazing food. The biggest thing I love about the meat he serves is it always comes out moist and not dried up like most other kabob places. His food is flavorful and high quality. My wife and I are moving to Texas sadly we will not get to visit with him and more but it may be worth a flight back up north from time to time just to have some amazing food!!! We wish the owner the best of luck and we both encourage you to stop by and try this place out. You won’t regret it. Al & Kelly R.

3*s for the food, but with great service. We were in the area for lunch, and decided to try some kabobs from Charcoal Chicken just after they opened on Saturday. There was only one gentlemen working(I assume the owner), and he was extremely friendly and personable. It didn’t take too long to get our food, despite it clearly being cooked to order. Like we usually do, we split a two-kabob order(in this case Combo II with chicken and beef), which with an extra piece of naan was certainly enough for two. The food itself was fine, but nothing amazing. The chicken was tender and juicy, but the beef was a little chewy. The sides were all nice, and unlike a lot of kabob places, the rice was nice and moist, not overly dry. All in all a fine place to grab a kabob, and if we are in the area we’d probably eat there again, but I’m not going to be driving out to Manassas from Vienna just for a meal…

Two words: Super Combo. I was in Manassas for 2 week work thing and Unilocaled the best eats/kabobs in the area only to discover Charcoal Chicken and Kabob. I ordered the Super Combo(3 kabobs– chicken, beef, and kubideh over rice with garbanzo beans and pita bread), substituted the lamb for one of the beef kabobs(a $ 2 charge), and enjoyed a MASSIVE meal for about $ 15(and resultantly 2 meals for $ 7.50 cause I ate the leftovers for dinner). The chicken and lamb are superb. This place was so good that I went back again the next day cause I had to get my Charcoal Chicken in before I left Manassas… Their staff are really friendly, the service is fast(less than 10 mins walk in), and you can get anything to-go. My to-go order was ready in under 15 mins.

Decided to try it out based on reviews. The place lives up to the reviews. Nothing fancy in way of décor but food is tops! I am now craving the beef kabobs and will be returning soon.

I popped in again today for a quick bite and realized it had been several months since my last visit. I ordered the Super Combo and had a seat. The owner remembered me and it was like seeing an old friend. The food was delicious and I had a very pleasurable dining experience!

Decided to come here after reading reviews. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Moby Dick’s but decided to try somewhere locally. First off the older gentleman working and I’m not sure if he’s the owner or the manager but he was super nice. I ordered the chicken kabob but wanted more veggies too he actually gave them too me without charging me extra(yay). The cucumber dressing or whatever it is was a bit different from that of Moby Dick’s. It was a bit more runny and spicy. I’d probably go back because the service was sooo good but I’m kinda stuck on the texture of Moby Dick’s.

Came here on recommendation of Neal E… and I wasn’t disappointed. Business was DEAD at 5p on a Sunday. As soon as the Beau and I walked in, the owner was all smiles and very chatty(about his car mostly). It was like seeing a old friend or uncle you haven’t seen in years. Very inviting man. He spent about 10 minutes cooking everything fresh. Though the rice seemed to be a mix of basmati and white, it was still good. The chicken kabob I ordered was well seasoned and cooked right. The Beau had the beef kabob, which, unfortunately, was way WAY too tough and chewy. If it had been more tender(maybe a better cut?), it would have made the meal tops. The orders came with the rice and the tandoori bread. And let me say, the bread? THEBESTTANDOORIBREADINTHENORTHERNVIRGINIAAREA. Very soft, somewhat fluffy, easy to tear and chew and flavoured just right. I couldn’t get enough of the stuff! Also, they came with chickpeas in a slightly spicy tomato based liquid. I didn’t care for it, but the Beau loved it. I’ll definitely be back again. It’s a nice, clean, very friendly establishment with good, fresh and affordable food(HUGE portions, too!!).

Had dinner here this evening — another place I’ve only recently become aware of — also in the same shopping center as the Toys R Us. Ordered the«Super Combo» three Kabobs — Kubideh(Seekh) — which is a mixture of ground beef, onion, and exotic spices, a Beef Kabob, but substituted Lamb for the chicken kabob. The combo comes with tandoori bread, Basmati rice, a yogurt cucumber sauce and cream lentils side. I added the cream lentils to the rice to give it some more moisture and flavor as the rice by itself is relatively bland. Plus I added some Kajun Fire brand Habanero hot sauce to it(see the attached pix for the brand of hot sauce — never seen it before). They also had a bottle of Sriracha — or I should it was a Sriracha bottle — but what was in it was not Sriracha sauce — it was to thin to be Sriracha — I asked the guy behind the counter about it — he showed me a jug of Frank’s hot sauce — which explains the consistency of what was in the bottle. Back to the food — all three Kabobs were moist, tasty, and flavorful. The bread was average, the yogurt cucumber sauce had a nice tang to it. The place also offers veggie Kabobs, Rotisserie chicken, sandwiches, salads, and a number of sides, plus Baklava. I got some of the Baklava to go for later — very sweet, flaky, and yummy! I will be back here again!

I love this place. Good, traditional kabobs, delicious rice, and some of the best bread around. Very friendly and fast. Highly recommended.
