The reason that I tried this place out is because of all the Unilocal reviews and I don’t know… The food is mediocre at best. My eggs, home fries, and cheese bowl(with toast) wasn’t anything special. And the pancakes, I’ve had way better. There was no music playing in the background, so all you heard was other customers conversations and the wait staff. It was quite odd.

If you’re looking for a classic American breakfast look no further. Hash browns, home fries, every vegetable known to man can go in your omelette, and if the pancakes were any fluffier they’d probably be illegal.

I went here for breakfast a few days ago. I expected the place to be busy as it was a peak breakfast time. We were seated right away as the restaurant wasn’t really that busy. Our server started off ok but she got increasingly rude as the meal went on. She was nicer to tables around us so I am not sure what we did to offend her. We weren’t high maintenance at all. Just placed our order and waited for the food. Didn’t ask for anything complicated or lots of refills. We even tracked down our own bowl of sugar for our coffee when we realized we didn’t have any. While waiitng for our meal I noticed this place is in very desperate need of a remodel. It is extremely dark and old looking. I don’t know if it was really dirty as it was so dark I couldn’t tell. The staff seems stressed out and unhappy too. We were seated near a service station where all we could hear was the waiters complaining about things or hearing the woman who appeared to be in charge barking orders at them. Not a very friendly vibe at all. When our food arrived most of it was hot and actually tasted very good, I had pancakes and my friend had potato pancakes. I asked for a side of bacon which wasn’t quite cooked enough but it was ok. My friend got a side of hash browns that came in a large bowl. He stated they were very greasy and not warm enough. The price we paid for our meal was acceptable however when it came time to pay we ran into a big issue. We tried to pay with a credit card and the cashier told us the card didn’t go through and their machine«was retarded and needed to be fixed or something.» She then told us that we had to pay cash because the credit card machine didn’t feel like working. Between the two of us we scraped up enough cash to pay our bill. We rarely carry much cash so we were caught very off guard. I’m not sure what would have happened if we didn’t have any cash with us. I doubt we will be back. There wasn’t any one part of this experience that gives me any motivation to return to this restaurant. I can get the same(or better) food and a better experience from at least 3 other places in a 5 mile radius.

So disappointing! My partner ordered the Arizona omelet and I ordered the vegetarian skillet. His was okay, but the home fries were incredibly greasy. The vegetarian skillet was horrible. The vegetables were seemingly boiled, and overcooked to the point of being waterlogged. On top of all of that they were completely bland. The eggs that were supposed to come with my skillet came 5 minutes after we received our food. Service was okay. The wait wasn’t bad for a Sunday morning. Our server, while nice, seemed totally out of it. It was our first time, and definitely our last. All in all not a good experience. The food was awful, and just not worth it.

We were at Mom’s today with my 15 month granddaughter. We’ve been their before because it is convenient. The food has always been so-so. My granddaughter can now eat«people food». Mom’s has a children’s menu. She is allergic to dairy. My daughter wanted to get her the Bert & Ernie(2 scrambled eggs and fries). She asked the waitress if they could make the eggs without any dairy — fry it in oil. She didn’t even go into the kitchen but said(dumb) that they could but it might get near something dairy. We’ve been to other places including Perkins who owns Mom’s — they were very accommodating. Plus, Perkins has a baby changing area and Mom’s doesn’t — with a name like Mom’s you would expect them to be baby friendly. All they had to do was fry the eggs in a pan not on the grill — all restaurants have frying pans. I think their staff needs to be retrained. As for the baby changing table when I was there a while ago I asked why they didn’t have one and the person said they were going to remodel and get one — when??? My daughter had to go to the car to change her lucky it was a nice day and she could.

Large portions, tasty food, pleasant service, reasonable prices with a 10% senior citizen discount. Now I understand why this place always seems to be crowded. I went with my cousin who is a regular there and was treated as such. On the other hand, I was a first timer but also got the«regular» treatment.
Cuz got a salad served with grille shrimp and there were a lot of them. He says he even gets more shrimp when his regular waiter is there. Personally, I thought what he had was plenty. I had an extremely large and fresh tasting Chef’s Salad and I could not finish it. That rarely, if ever happens, so you know the portions are big. We were there for a late lunch but if I was not already full, I was tempted to stay for the early bird dinner.

My friends and I meet for lunch every Friday and usually go to moms at least twice a month. The service is usually slow but today it was horrible. We work and only get an hour for lunch. We were seated at noon, we ordered two salads and two omelets. We asked the waiter twice why it was taking so long. His response was that it was coming out soon. At 12:45 one of us, there were four of us, approached the manager/owner and explained the situation. He did nothing to help us. He did not leave the register, he did not go to the kitchen to find out if there was a problem, nothing. At 12:50 the food finally arrived. At this point one of us needed to get her omelet to go since she had to return to work. We asked to speak to the manager again. We explained that we were upset and shouldn’t have to wait so long for our food. If there was a problem he should have informed us since we are there so often and they know we are strapped for time. Not once did the words I’m sorry, I apologize, etc. pass his lips. He actually said to us «then go somewhere where they will serve you faster,». Needless to say the four of us picked ourselves up and walked out. The food is mediocre but we went there for convenience. We were loyal customers up to this point. Now they lost at least four customers. if you are limited in how long you can stay then I strongly suggest that you DONOTGOTHERE!

First time with a friend & not disappointed. Had split pea soup, a Greek salad, a half roasted duck with dressing & candied apples, Orso spinach, mix veggies, rice puddings & diet Coke for $ 13 on the 3−6PM daily specials menu. A lot of «bang for the buck» & tasty too. Try ‘em, you’ll like ‘em!

I really don’t like writing bad reviews because I feel it may have been an isolated incident on the particular day I visited. With that said, I can only speak of this one day. I wouldn’t say not to go there as most people seem to do. I can just share my experience. We were seated quickly and our server came right over for our drink order. Me, never bring able to make a decision, delayed the order taking process a bit, but Again, the server was attentive. I got a grilled cheese and onion rings. My sister ordered eggs and other breakfast items. Well, i’d say, how can you mess up a grilled cheese, but this sandwich was just that. The bread somehow was very well done and the cheese was barely melted. Same for the onion rings, very well done. I didn’t send them back because I was starving. After we finished, the waiter disappeared! We had to ask the bus boy to get our waiter and the bus boy instead returned back with our check. No waiter! Overall, just a mediocre experience.

Me and my boyfriend love diners. We travel all around looking for the best of the best. And still to this day nothing beats moms. The breakfast here is insane. All the dishes are huge portions for low prices. The good morning traveler is 7 $(5.99 during breakfast hours) you get two eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries hashbrowns or two pancakes, toast, and a small juice. Large portions of each. You can’t beat it. Also my boyfriend loves the pancakes which are about $ 7 too. They give you five big pancakes(more then any other diner) and a large portion of toppings. Again you can’t beat it. The service is always on point. The owner is almost always there and he’s a really nice guy. The staff is very attentive and friendly. As well, most places ive worked or eaten at treat there bus boys like maids. Moms is the opposite. In all the years I’ve been coming ive watched them help the bus boys learn English so they could move up to waiters. And many are now waiters. I think that says more about the place then some post about food ever will. All in all. I love it here. If it were up to me I would rank it one of the bet diners in America. Trust me, try it once and you will return over and over again.

Just had breakfast here. The cheese omelettes are delicious, cooked perfectly and big portions. Hash browns are very tasty. Our waitress Arielle was wonderful. She was very attentive and had a pleasant way about her.

I’ll take quality over quantity on any given day. That’s my personal preference. A single $ 8.99 breakfast skillet at Mom’s may be enough food to feed a family of four, but seriously, give me half the amount of food and use the best ingredients possible, and then make it taste amazing. The Leprechaun skillet, made with corned beef hash, tasted more like it had been made with actual Leprechaun meat. I don’t understand why so many diners insist on buying their corned beef hash in giant, Army-sized aluminum cans. They have all the ingredients to make a fresh, homemade corned beef hash, yet they insist on this version, which is sadly akin to a can of dog food. And when it comes to the eggs, I personally think a good skillet scrambles all the ingredients together — eggs included. Here, the eggs are bare and tossed on top. Dry, flavorless… just plain boring. My wife’s hash browns looked promising, cooked with a nice golden crunch and all, but they were really greasy, and not in an OMG butter kind of way, but instead just tasted like, well, grease. Coffee wasn’t particularly good either, and that really sucks because, I mean, c’mon — you’re a DINER! It’s nice they give you a full carafe at the table, but a carafe full of dirty, bitter dishwater is useless. A few sips was all I could bare. As for décor, people have pretty much nailed it. The interior of Mom’s is super old school, and I’m not talking like cool and retro-chic. Mom’s is worn down, and while I wouldn’t categorize it as dirty per se, I didn’t find the space to be the slightest bit appealing. Service was very good, but not enough to bring me back. Sorry folks, one and done.

We were seated within minutes of walking in, and our server met us in a timely fashion. I didn’t like the way the other servers were hanging out near our table and openly clowning and goofing around with each other. There is a time and place for this, and it definitely isn’t in a busy dining room where customers can see you. Our meal came after quite a wait, even though the dining room was not that busy(hence, the servers goofing off). I ordered my eggs over easy because I wanted the yolk to be slightly runny, it was over done. The hash browns tasted stale, was burnt, and inedible. As if it had been sitting on the griddle all morning. It was not freshly cooked. As for the Crepes, they were dry and plain. I’ve had better. Would you believe that the server asked if we wanted syrup with our crepes? This isn’t pancakes or waffles. Horrors! I was disappointment with my breakfast experience at Mom’s.

This place is a local favorite from what I am told. We went for breakfast. I was told the skillets were good so I got chose the leprechaun skillet with over easy eggs because I like corned beef. Well let me tell you, this skillet was so filling I had like 5 bites and was STUFFED. The rye bread that came with my skillet was fresh and toasted just the way I like and I tried some of my boyfriends Greek skillet and that was pretty darn good as well. What I didn’t like is that there were about 5 guys standing around in the back but we had to wait and call someone over to just get a cup of coffee. Our server, when she did come was very nice and attentive. It’s basic diner breakfast food, pretty affordable, and for the most part quick. I’d come here again for a quick breakfast.

Great breakfast. Yummy hash browns. Friendly waitstaff. A go to place for a good inexpensive dinner. Specials every night. Big Greek salad, with feta and olives, add a soup and a main course with 2 sides for about $ 12. Yes, it’s good diner food not gourmet.

My boyfriend and I were on a bit of a diner binge while I was at home for an impromptu weekend visit. After trying some of the others in the area, he suggested Mom’s as my «last NJ» meal until Valentine’s Day when I return. We entered and were quickly seated, it we were maybe one of three diners in there at 3:30 on Monday. After perusing the menu, we decided to deviate from the breakfast food we ALWAYS order at diners(soups, omelettes and a side of bacon). So, he ordered a house salad to start and a triple decker grilled cheese with bacon and tomato. I got a greek salad with grilled chicken and shrimp. and holy crow! It was enough to feed us for weeks! My salad was honestly a solid foot wide and had at least a pound of protein on it… plus tons of peppers, tomatos, feta and olives. I didn’t even need salad dressing. My better half’s sandwich was on thick Texas toast, with a TON of bacon and lots of tomato. He only managed to soldier through half before he threw in the towel. I ate about 2⁄3 of my salad before I had to surrender. It was just the never ending salad platter!(Oh, we also got a side of bacon, which we ate most of. I doubt there is a couple out there that adores bacon more than we do.) Total damage for both meals(that could easily feed us both twice) with two sodas? Under $ 30. YES. I have already requested a return visit.

The California omelette: big and soft pieces of broccoli, stringy cheddar cheese, and they do egg whites without looking at you like you are from another planet! The hash browns are crispy with a thick layer of crisp on top, folded over in a cohesive mound like the changeling’s rift on your plate as it crashes up against your omelette. The coffee too, even way better than at Red Oak and other diners reasonably nearby and in the same league. This is a nice diner experience. They have a lot of options on the menu and are very accommodating to weird requests. Although the waiter was frazzled with the order of challah toast and required a little extra explanation in words and concepts he could understand — we seem to have found the one gentile in the area, ladies and gentlemen.
