The german food in terriable. The german potato salad was swimming in oil and no flavor. The saurkraut was very sweet. And there homemade sausage was muchy and disgusting. I would never go back again. We love german food and this was the wust food I have ever eaten.

This is a hidden gem that can be accessed by land or by sea! Its a little tricky to get to driving if you don’t know the local shortcut, but it very much worth checking out. Great german food and beer menu along with live entertainment! Better visit quick though, they will be closing for 2 years to complete renovations. Ps. They do buffets on holidays with reservations!

Stopped here for a quick bite & a brew. It appears the restaurant is divided into the casual, outdoor bar area called Quelle & a larger indoor area(The Dutchman’s Brauhaus). The location is fabulous, right on the Barnegat Bay. It was a beautiful night & the girls & I decided to sit inside the bar area overlooking the water rather than in the open deck area. Staff was very friendly & service was quick, with the waitress advising us right away payment is strictly cash. I appreciated knowing that ahead of time but we were prepared. They offered a couple of different German beers on tap, 2 craft beers & some generic beers. Food wise, it was mostly fried bar food so I opted for the West Creeker, a smoked BBQ sandwich w Sriracha sauce that the waitress advised wasn’t too spicy. The others in the group ordered Bratwurst, pretzel, & chicken fingers. My sandwich was forgettable. Not only was it not spicy, there wasn’t even a hint of spice, & it was dry. They were the stingy on the sauce, as well as the pork portions. The roll was the tastiest part of the sandwich. The chicken fingers were barely touched, as was the pretzel. I think the bratwurst was the only meal enjoyed. I’m glad we stopped because of the view alone but that’s about all this place has going for it. I like good food too much to come back.

Another great meal. Best Knockwurst. Great German beers on tap. Miss the snapper soup? My friend loved their Sauerbraten. We will be back.

This was our second time here and will 100% be our last. They claim to specialize in German food but what came to the table was not German not was it food. When we walked in at prime time on Easter Sunday and the place was empty that should have been the sign from above to leave. Unfortunately we didn’t. The 2 stars is for the view. Service was slow and there were only two tables in the entire restaurant. They delivered crackers to the table when we sat down… Really? $ 20 and up per entrée and you bring crackers? I ordered the Manhattan Clam Chowder. This brown colored soup would not be allowed within 20 miles of Chowderfest. The sandy grit at the bottom of the bowl I’m guessing was an attempt to show freshness? Entrees arrived. My sons burger was a dried out hockey puck that he wouldn’t touch. I ordered the Weiner Schnitzel, which was a thick cut piece of pork covered in brown jarred gravy with mushrooms on it. That’s right… jarred gravy. This place should thank god everyday that their salt shakers were full since the food was beyond bland. We waited another 20 mins for mass produced desserts because the waitress«couldn’t find them in the back». Sweet, lost dessert! I mean this wholeheartedly, you would be a fool to eat here. Our other visit was for lunch last summer and shame on us for taking a second bite at this rotten apple.

Always friendly, always good… Great filet mignon, mussels and German fare, large unique beer selection and you can try before buying… If you are near Ship Bottom try Dutchman

Sat in the bar and were served by Marcus. A true expert in beer selections and his suggestions did not disappoint. King crab special was on point and the jäger schnitzel and potato pancakes were amazing. We’ve eaten at the Quelle too and found the view, steamers and lobster roll worth the trip. Only minor downside was the spätzle, which I thought was possibly not homemade, but still good. We’ll be back!

Visited with a large group of 12. On a wed night so not busy. Half of us were kids under 6. The place is dirty and overpriced. With pretty pathetic food. Our waitress(older women) was unattentive and rude and seemed annoyed by us. The bussers and expeditors stand around and text. We ordered 6 kids meals at $ 10 a pop. Ok food but they only give a free soft drink with meal. Great give our kids soda, way to keep with the times. When we ordered choco milk they charged is $ 4.50 each without saying it did not come free. When we questioned the waitress played dumb and made it out to be our fault for not asking if the choco would be charged for. All she could respond coldly was«ill get the mgr». The mgr came over and took the 22.50 off the bill after lecturing us about the cost diff between milk and soda. I read that as, i dont care if ur kids teeth rot or if i give them high fructose corn syrup because profit is all that matters. We still dropped 300 in the place and left the terrible waitress a 15%tip. PTo go back to the food. Its not real german and the seafood is bland and not kicked well. Way to serve a «bag» of potato chips with meals. It’s just as inexpensive to serve homemade chips. But they clearly dont have a good head chef. Dont go here if you care about quality food, good service. There are tons of places in lbi to hit. Make this you last choice.

Despite what a lot of people say about this place, I actually really enjoyed it. That more or so had to do with being surrounded by my family. Of course after reading reviews from Unilocal I was a little skeptical, and my family was too after the waitress handed 6 of us a single folded paper menu. Aside from the waitress, who was sweet, semi-attentive, but also seemingly new to the joint, our view was unbeatable. we sat on the outdoor rooftop over looking the bay, with live music playing downstairs. People pulled up on boats and jet skis, docked, and were enjoying themselves as well. The overall atmosphere of the place was pretty cool. No plates, just those paper red and white striped cartons you normally eat carnival food out of. Heh. Cash only, they have some weird debit system but we almost left after we heard it was cash only. The infamous«greasy chips» everyone writes about weren’t terrible. We ordered a wide variety of things on the menu-from the coconut shrimp(amazzzzzzing), to the chicken wings, jalapeño pretzel, pulled pork sandwiches, all the way to the cheeseburger and chicken fingers, everything was delicious(but kinda greasy). The major downside to it was that if you ordered the cheeseburger or the chicken tenders, they were served plain. No fries or sides. Overall satisfied.

It’s a nice place to boat up to and have a drink and apps. But service and meals are sub par. Especially for the area. It’s a good tourist trap.

Two of us were outside at the Quelle outside yesterday for a beer. As you walk outside there are signs telling you it is cash only. When the waitress comes she reminds you again about cash only. When I asked about beer specials I was told there are many available but only inside. So we ordered 2 Coors. The beers were $ 5 each while inside they were $ 2. $ 17 is a little pricey for a soft shell sandwich. Now I know why the place was empty on a beautiful afternoon. I live nearby but will not be back.

We ate at Quelle, outside part of dutchman’s and cash only. Beautiful day for late lunch/early dinner. Very limited menu options. There was some miscommunication with the pretzels and pretzel bites. We unintentionally ordered 6 large pretzels for a party of 4 and the waitress Alana made no attempt to clarify or dissuay us. She was not very knowledgeable and did not know the price of the chowder which was not reflected on the menu. I ordered a cheeseburger with cheddar cheese. It was delivered with American cheese and she said no cheddar just American. Despite that, It was tasty. The pulled pork sandwich was just okay. The bratwurst was good. Alana made no attempt to rectify the pretzel debacle and we took the leftovers home.

Greeted awkwardly by the bar guy who said he wasn’t sure where the waitress was. Stood around for 5 or so min till someone arrived and looked annoyed we were there. Sat down and ordered food that wasn’t even that good but expensive. They give you individually wrapped crackers with fish butter to start with. Sodas were very watered down and $ 3 a glass. The food itself was decent but not worth the price. There were a bunch of flies around our table that made eating there less pleasant. Can’t say I recommend the place unless you strictly want to go for the view.

For starters, you can’t beat the location. The views are unreal and it is one of the few places you can bring your boat to have a few beers. They do not take credit cards outside which is a huge pain in the ass. The prices are a little expensive, but you are paying for the views. With that said, the food and service stink. The menu is simply outdated and does not reflect the location — this is a bayfront restaurant but the menu reflects an old German Brauhaus(which in all fairness is what the restaurant is). Service is slow and arrogant. Good place to grab a few expensive beers, but eat somewhere else. Unsolicited advice to owners — think seafood, lighter healthier menu.

If you are coming for fine dining and ambiance do not, but if you want some solid German food and a solid German beer selection with a gorgeous view check out Dutchmans. I like the Wurst Combo served in a skillet, with kraut and german style mashed potatoes and the house made pretzels with spicy German mustard for an appetizer. Also good for a drink on the water.

Where do I begin… Took my jetski to the dock and forgot a rope(my fault) Plenty of people were helpful in helping my tie up, which is the only reason why this place gets two stars. My party sat ourselves because the entrance is quite confusing, terrible circulation. Immediately, cheap chips and salsa in a paper container are thrown on the table without even a slight greeting from our waitress.(How are chips German?) I got the $ 8.00 fried eggplant which was also disgusting. It was dripping in grease, stuck together, and there were only 4 tiny pieces on my(again) paper dish. Beer comes in plastic cups. I left and the next day, heard someone threw an entire plate of shrimp into the bay and refused to pay because it was terrible quality and ridiculously expensive. I wish I was there to see that. For anyone who says«prices are high, but thats what you get at Jersey Shore in summer», you are incredibly wrong. This places takes advantage of people who think that way. I literally would need days to go on about how terrible of a place this is. The ONLY thing that comes close to saving it is that the other patrons were friendly. Overall, total rip off.

Cash only. There is no ATM, you give your card to the bartender, he runs it, and gives you your money. $ 3.00 charge. Needless to say, get your cash somewhere else. Decent beers on tap, prices are a bit high but that’s what you get down the shore in the summer. Plastic glasses though? Screams cheap.

We just had my Father’s 80th birthday party here last night and It was wonderful! The food was great, cooked especially for our party. I had the Sea Bass and the root vegetables and really enjoyed it. Everyone who had it was saying«have you had the Sea Bass? It’s delicious!» The staff and the view were fantastic. We sat in the back room where every window on all three sides looked out onto the beautiful bay. I don’t think I’ve had a better view anywhere in LBI. The staff were friendly and attentive. One waiter was actually brushing the crumbs from our place settings with a small scraper like he had worked at a much fancier restaurant in the past. The German beer was delicious also. A good many at our table had to have the Dunkleweiss, served in a tall glass with lemon. It was a great evening! I would recommend this venue for casual, extended family events. Can’t beat the view, the staff, and the beer!
