Amazing food! We ended our trek to Devil’s Postpile with an early dinner at The Yodeler… wow! The theme inside the restaurant was very inviting and relaxing. Our server was very attentive to our needs. The portions were huge and very satisfying. Money well spent! We’re definitely coming back!!!

We wandered into Yodeler in the middle of the afternoon(about 3 pm) after a long day of hiking. We were starving, having hiked through lunch and chose this place over driving somewhere down the mountain after getting off the Red Meadow shuttle. It wasn’t busy, there were two other tables occupied in the section in which we were sat. After reviewing the menu and making our selections(we weren’t thrilled with the options, but we were willing to deal with it, since we chose location over food choice), we sat for quite some time. Again, if we weren’t starving, we would have just left, chalked it up and moved on… Eventually, my husband checked in with the hostess to find out who our server was. She was apologetic when she came over and we were able to order. There were a few additional snafus with the service, but I won’t go into those, because this is already«longer than most reviews.» In my opinion, the food was just«meh,» not awful, but nothing that would make me come back at another time…

This place was great! Came from out of town to hit the slopes and stopped in for a drink and a bite. The pretzel was huge and they make a great bloody mary! The staff was really friendly, Tyler and Jayson were super cool, definetly coming back next trip!

In the late 70s Mammoth Mountain founder Dave McCoy had a vision of creating a vast, multi mountain, 10,000+ acre resort stretching from Mammoth in the south to June in the north — his inspiration being the fabled resorts of the Swiss Alps. An extended drought and the Wilderness Act eventually conspired to kill these plans, and Mammoth today scarcely resembles Chamonix with its utilitarian and rickety lodges. But one little shred of Swiss grandeur wormed it’s way into Mammoth’s kitschy world — The Yodeler: an authentic Swiss building literally packed into crates and rebuilt here, where for decades it served up the best fish taco in Mammoth. Yes… they served fish tacos here in plastic baskets on warped wood tables with hand-painted swiss pastoral scenes depicted on murals in the background. But no more. Sort of. The furniture is still rustic… but now the furniture is one piece. The murals are still there. The gingerbread wainscoting has been polished to a shine. But instead of fish tacos The Yodeler now sports an Austrian and Bavarian themed menu complete with wurst and schnitzel, beer and stout. I miss the tacos, but the Germanic menu is an unequivocal upgrade, and a tremendous value. On a warm early spring day(mere hours before temperatures took a dive and a storm blew in to refresh Mammoth in characteristic fashion) I dropped into Mammoth from the Eagle lodge side of the mountain for a few runs and skied to the front porch of the Yodeler after a few runs to meet friends for lunch. The gingerbread cube of a building, with its fanciful trim, germanic script and wood carving is old world rustic — so stereotypical for a 1950s ski resort, charming in aesthetic and presence. Compared to the sleek and urbane 53 Kitchen or Campo, The Yodeler is kitsch and a little anachronous, but so easy to love. The soundtrack might be built of the horrific alternative rock that Mammoth’s focus group has determined is the least offensive accompaniment for a meal, but the remainder of the atmosphere makes up for it in such a way that I easily forget what I’m listening to. The menu, with its sandwiches priced between 14 and 18 bucks, is priced on par with the nearby(and much less satisfying) cafeteria options — when one can find a sit-down meal in as hermetic a setting as a transplanted swiss chalet rather than standing in line with trays of charred burger meat, I don’t understand why anyone choose the latter — the Yodeler is a far superior decision. Electing to give a whiskey-fennel rope sausage a try, while friends selected Jagerschnitzel and Chicken Schnitzel sandwiches sealed my conviction that we had made the right choice. My rope sandwich was a giant sausage spiraling into a giant circle, set on a warm, yeasty ciabiatta role. The sausage was mild yet aromatic — reminiscent more of a soothing rosemary aroma and flavored with a smooth, sweet hint of whiskey glaze. Hot, huge, served up with more fries than I know what to do with(here they seem to be pan fried rather than deep fried — thicker, hotter, and overall more satisfying), it was a perfect selection. I also got to try a piece of the chicken schnitzel sandwich, which was a huge piece of breaded white breasted chicken with a jalapeño aioli. The spicy heat, combined with the comfort-food weight of the chicken, conjured up thoughts of contentment far removed from the windy storm that was building up outside. The menu also offers a number of flat breads and other meat dishes, as well as salads and a very impressive beer menu. Service throughout was extremely friendly. Our server was congenial and seemed excited that we came in, happy to keep our water glasses filled. Perplexingly, the food took quite some time to land on our table. However, due to the weather outside and the cutesy, well appointed surroundings(as well as myriad tvs scattered through the place) there was much to keep us from really noticing. At the end of the meal I suited up and hit the slopes again, braving a windstorm that was sweeping dark clouds over the Ritter Range and into the valley while I rushed to return to the Eagle side and escape. The Yodeler is a warm and fuzzy piece of Mammoth history that, so long as it is still here, will always give skiers a good reason to escape the slopes for awhile. Without a doubt, it is Main Lodge’s best dining offering, and one of my all-time-favorite ski-in, ski-out eateries anywhere. For an extended Mammoth Mountain review:

This place is amazing. Tyler the bartender is so awesome, that we came here twice after riding all day. We had the Elk Fries, which were amazing after a long day on the slopes. I highly recommend it here!

Great food, awesome atmosphere, convenient location by main lodge & Mammoth Mountain Inn. The Pretzel is worth $ 21. It’s huge and good and a novelty. Cucumber salad was excellent– not too over powering. The vegetable goulash was good as well. Burgers looked good, although I didn’t have one. They were rocking some awesome music during our visit and I wanted to stay and hang out. Only problem is their hours– they were staying open late(7pm) bc of spring break– otherwise they close at 5, which is a bummer.

Great location with a nice sunny patio next to main lodge. Friendly service and awesome beer selection. I loved the German wheat beer and their Pretzels. The place is very cozy inside. However the so called German food is awful. The Jägerschnitzel was dry as paper and overly fried with almost no mushroom gravy. The house fries were good. This place would be awesome if they had real quality German food. Still highly recommended for beers and the location(; if you are not craving German food)

Awesome bar at the main mountain. Came here with a big group of friends on St Pattys day and had a blast. Great views and awesome service. Going to make this an annual stop on our trips up to Mammoth!!!

Over priced food and drinks. I think mammoth mountain’s strategy is to get people to their village because the main lodge area accommodations suck! Yodler has a much more limited menu and closes at 5pm. Don’t waste your time. I rated two stars because the only item worth the money is the giant pretzel just to see it.

After full days of skiing and riding, my fiancé and I just wanted to stay within the Mammoth Mountain Inn grounds for our dining options. Disappointed with the Mountainside Bar & Grill, we were excited to try the Yodler. They had limited hours back in December and wasn’t open every day. Overall, the dining experience was much better. Service(4 stars) was excellent, and we were greeted with friendly smiles from the hostess and our server. The food also came out quickly. I ordered the Dark and Stormy(4 stars) cocktail, which was strong and a perfect après ski drink. It was like a rum based Moscow Mule. I also ordered Jagerschnitzel(3 stars), which was breaded pork with gravy and mushrooms on top of fries. The pork was good and not dried out. However, the gravy was a little salty. The fries were seasoned well. It’s a rich and hearty dish with large portions, which I could not finish. My fiancé ordered the Short Rib Spatzle(3 stars), which he enjoyed. The short ribs were very tender. During our dinner, lighting was dim with music playing. There’s also a fireplace. It’s a good spot to have dinner or to have a drink at the bar.

This place was the one restaurant that the wife and I were most excited to go to. I saw an advertisement in a magazine and knew I was ready for the sausage sampler and some sauerkraut. Being in Mammoth makes you hungry and I was as hungry as a beast! Food: The food was great. The presentation was surprising as well. I enjoyed the kraut and various sausages. They each had a unique flavor. We also shared the Cobb salad and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The ham was spot on. The unsweetened tea was Brewed to perfection. Ambiance: They did a great job on this place. It felt right to be eating sausages with the old wooden décor. The bar atmosphere is alive and well and the fire place makes it the perfect place to relax after a ride on the slopes. Service: Although the service was fast– meaning the food came out quick– they leave a lot to be desired. Everyone was friendly enough but I had to search out a person for mustard. My tea glass sat empty while I enjoyed the last ½ of my meal. When they finally did come for a refill I was done, ready for a take home box and ready for the check. I have no idea where the wait staff hangs out but they would do well to be helping the guests. We might have stayed longer and opted for a post meal coffee. Overall it was not a bad a experience. It just lacked the WOW factor that is worthy of a 5 star review. If I were you– I would still check this place out.

We came to this place twice during our 5 day stay in Mammoth. They have a great drink selection and our bartender was very friendly. The food was beyond amazing. We had the Veggie Goulash(twice) and it was outstanding. We also loved the fondue, trout, beet salad, and short ribs. Everything was great. Everyone especially loved the spaetzle. Also, the service and waiters/cooks were just so friendly and hospitable. The second time we came we arrived after they had closed the kitchen and they stayed open just for us and were very nice about it, making sure we liked the food and had everything we needed. Highly recommended for both the food and service!!!

3 days of bombing hill, my 3 yr olds 1st boarding lesson. To finish up the long day of our 2nd night we stopped in the Yodler. 1st had an amazing greeting! They were packed. Busy busy busy. After we were seated we were updated on the new menu. The General Manager Kevin Sanders was Incredibly charming & had the most radiant and loving glow. It’s hard to find GM’s that can stay that positive in the midst of chaos. Kevin had such an upbeat attitude. He is definitely an asset to the company. The staff handle the crowd with a good pace, as we say with a sense of urgency.

My friends came to visit me from San Diego and one of them wandered in here so I came and met them. I live in town and usually don’t stop here. I was more than pleasantly surprised! The 4 rating is purely because I think some of the prices are steep and that was worth a one star deduction. Everything else was a 5! Service(I sat at the bar) = 5 Kitchen staff = 5 Food presentation = 5 Food flavor, quality, and uniqueness of dish = 5 Comfort of furniture(bar stools could use back rest) = 4 Ambiance = 4 I ordered the short rib spätzle. I have lived in Germany for 3 years. Talk about amazing food that reminded me of being there! Yum yum! I have heard amazing things about the pretzel with a variety of cheese and mustard dips. That will be the next thing I try!

I have always loved The Yodler and it’s still pretty good. It’s friendly, fun alternative to the Main Lodge which was packed with families and kids spread out with their goldfish snacks and food they brought from home. So…back to Yodler Review. Maybe because it was their first day open they weren’t ready for us and that’s why they made some mistakes. Brought the appetizer with our food instead of beforehand and brought a side of cream with coffee instead of a Baileys and Coffee drink. Come on! The menu options are good. Beer selection is good. Fireplace seating is real nice. The food was all tasty. We’ll be back!

The hubby & kids came to bike, zip line, rock climb & do the bungee trampoline here on a sunny Summer Sunday. Seems the only places to eat are the Yodler and the Mountainside. Both have outdoor decks with amazing views. The food selection is ski resort fare, nothing to write home about but I’m just thankful for hot food on the mountain! Weird thing at the Yodler: if you eat on the deck, you must order from the outdoor BBQ which has 4 selections(burger, grilled chicken burger, beef hotdog or a «rope burger» which is a German sausage in a potato bun — all come with a side of chips). To order from the full menu, you MUST sit inside the dining room. It’s dark and dank in there, 70s chic, musty. Why would I want to sit in there when there’s a crispy blue mountain sky with white puffy clouds outside? I asked multiple staff if I could just order TO-GO from the full menu, and eat on the deck? They were all very cordial but the answer was a unanimous«NO, I’m sorry they won’t allow it.» If «they» is reading this review: GETYOURFOODPROGRAMTOGETHERPLEASE. We are Mammoth Mountain lovers who come bearing money in our pockets and its serve both of us if you could provide a few decent outdoor eating options. Street tacos? Salads? Wraps? Or just have Gomez’ or Toomeys set up a pop up food stand ? On the positive side, if you are lucky enough to have the REEEEALLYNICEGUYCHRIS as your server, he is sure to put a smile on your face . If you want to deal with bassakwards arbitrary food eating rules for no apparent reason, I guess you should eat here . UPDATE: we came back the next day and noticed that you can order from the dining room menu. Maybe it was some weird weekend thing…

Stopped here for lunch after a morning hike and was very impressed! The place looks like an old swiss ski chalet, very warm and cozy with dark wood old world charm. We were seated quickly and service was fast and friendly. The beer selection is fabulous with a variety of domestics and imports. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was perfect. The chicken was lightly fried and still juicy. The sour pickles and tangy mustard were mellowed out by the smooth swiss cheese. The boar sausage on the ripe sandwich was perfectly juicy and not overly salty. We’ll definitely be stopping back here again.

We had cheese-spaetze and the vegetarian goulasch. Both dishes were really diappointing. Not authentic at all and way too expensive for what you get. Ordered a side salad that was about 10 leaves of spinach and two cherry-tomatoes for 9USD!!! Our mistake not to ask for the price before ordering.
