I wanted guac, chips, and a margarita for dinner. There is no alcohol here. I ordered guacamole and the waiter lied and said they were out. The four plates of carnitas ordered at our table had sides of guac. Food was just ok. Waiter was terrible, helper was good.

We were very disappointed. We were a group of ten. And the service was slow. They ran out of beans in a Mexican restaurant. They didn’t have enough silverware so we had to use forks only. The chips and salsa was good. And the portions were large as promised. The prices were fine as well.

If you are looking for El Torito Mexican food, you are out of luck. This is the real thing, authentic Mexican food. Everything is made to order so be patient but you won’t be disappointed. This is a small authentic restaurant with excellent service. The subtle flavors show painstaking care of preparation. The salsa does not come out of a jar. Yummy is all we can say. These guys deserve to make it here in Mammoth

Wow, I really didn’t expect this from a hole-in-the-wall place behind a shopping center! I’ve driven past this place a couple times during my stays in Mammoth and I sure wish I’d stopped by sooner. Coming from San Diego, Jalapenos reminds me of one of my favorite burrito shops. It’s family owned and super authentic, exactly the place you might expect to be dining alongside a group of Hispanic patrons. The carne asada here was awesome and I don’t know of anywhere else in town that serves horchata! To top it off, the prices are very reasonable. When I rolled in, I was the only patron in the building. After having been left out in the cold by 2 other businesses that were closed temporarily, I was just happy they were open. I was brought a menu by the owner’s son(combo– host, waiter, server, busboy) and served some of the best chips and salsa that I’ve had in a long time. The salsa was clearly fresh, and I almost took the whole bowl home with me– so good. Although they were out of Horchata, I opted for the pineapple water and«Mexican fajitas»(I forget the name). Both were outstanding. The server even brought extra red salsa and limes to top it off. The portions left nothing to be desired. I’ll admit I had more than my share of chips and salsa, but I had to bring home the leftovers for lunch, because I couldn’t let such good food go to waste! The décor reminded me, again, of my favorite authentic food place back home. I was a little turned off by the server making out with his girlfriend in the dining area, but that was really the only negative comment I have for the place. Given I was the only patron in the building, the service was very quick and tailored to me. TL;DR– One of Mammoth’s best kept secrets. Really can’t wait to recommend it to my friends instead of our regular trips to Roberto’s :)

I went here with my family, 5 people, and we shared the food that we ordered. Everything there so just so delicious but The Chile Relleno’s are my favorite bye far.
