Everything we had was exceptional, service was outstanding. Pasta was literally handmade, which is getting rare. Even the owner was walking around checking on everybody’s meal. This place is a gem. PS-parking was ample.

This particular shopping center is hit or miss in terms of restaurants – they either stick around for a while, or quickly fizzle. Based on my long-overdue meal at Tonino’s, here’s hoping this place falls into the FIRST category. Put simply, it’s top-notch Italian fare in a casual setting that easily gives fancier local joints like Ristorante Verona, San Nicola, or even the Carrabba’s next door a run for their money. The setting seems like your typical pizzeria. They have a sit-down area in the back that isn’t remotely stuffy but the casualness of which belies the quality of the food. The atmosphere, however, is terrific. The owner/manager is clearly visible, very friendly, and is always on the move – behind the counter, getting someone to serve you, clearing tables, etc. We were greeted by no less than three people – including the owner, and not including our server – as we ate who wanted to see how we were doing. Speaking of our server, she was fantastic – very nice, charmingly Italian(seriously, as in she was from Italy and struggled with English some times), mostly very attentive, and just a pleasure overall. This is the type of atmosphere and service you’d expect in a five-star restaurant, not a pizzeria – like I said, the quality of the food and service is far better than first-appearances make it seem. As for the food itself – no complaints as to the quality. We both got pasta fagiole soup – the broth was light, but the beans and pasta were bursting with flavor. It was really, really yummy – only problem was, we got it because it came with the meal – choice of soup or salad – and the portion was ginormous. Like, entrée-sized ginormous. We both wished it had only been a cup-sized, because neither of us could finish our entrees. And the entrees – man oh man, they easily rivaled if not surpassed dishes I’ve gotten from some of the other joints I mentioned earlier. The other person I was with got the lasagna – the sauce was delicious, nice and light, while the quality of the lasagna was rich, delicious, and the cheese was out of this world. Not a lot of meat, but awesome nevertheless. I got the pasta special, so it may not be available when you go – homemade pasta in a cream sauce with shrimp, sundried tomatoes, spinach, bacon, and caramelized onions. Very rich, but not overly so, and had we not been so stuffed on the soup I would have finished it. Or at least I would try – the portions are waaaaaay too big. That’s probably the only complaint. We split a tiramisu – and this is real tiramisu, not a cake. It’s served in a cup, the only thing we got that was reasonably sized, and it was light, airy, and fantastic. It was tempting to lick the dish. Heck, even the bread is amazing – you get two pieces each of three kinds: regular ol’ bread, tomato pie, and a delectable onion bread. Do yourselves a favor and check the place out. It isn’t even remotely pretentious, has a welcoming atmosphere, phenomenal service, and even more phenomenal food. Make this place one that will stick around. I promise you won’t be disappointed(although I can’t speak to the pizza-that’s next time). There was a constant stream of diners on a Saturday night, it was packed nearly to capacity and there was a steady stream of carry-out customers. That should tell you something.

Six of us ate there on Saturday and it was my first time with the new owner. We’ll be back for sure! Amazing BYOB Italian restaurant. Agree that you don’t go here for the atmosphere it the fresh food was so good. Or table was first presented with a delicious caramelized onion flat bread. Salads or soup came with our entrees. My husband wast keen on his soup but another of our guest enjoyed his. Salads were fresh. We all got specials… Rago/Sunday sauce with sausage, meatballs, broccoli and home made pasta, salmon and a chicken/shrimp special. Everyone raved about their food. We also had sautéed spinach… excellent. Service was excellent and they were lovely!

This place is a true hidden gem in a nondescript shopping mall. It is a family business that takes pride in their food. Everything is made on the premises, including the pastas. The pizzas are cooked to perfection, with a crispy bottom on the crust and generous toppings. Since I was so impressed with the pizzas, I had to go back for dinner to try the fresh pastas and I was not disappointed. I opted for the special«Sunday Sauce» with homemade pasta, sausage, meatballs and braciole. It was a very generous plate full of Italian soul food that was impossible to stop eating. Don’t be fooled by the modest store front. This place is spotless inside and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Louise could not have been any nicer to my family. Truly, they have the best pizza in the area. As an accomplished Italian cook, I know good Italian food, and this place hits the mark every time.

Go if you’re tempted by the pizza(it’s really good), but go back for the traditional Italian food. I’ve had the Penne Broccolli, the Sausage and Peppers Pasta, steamed spinach, and broccolli side dishes and EVERYMEAL has been excellent! You also get a generous serving of 3 kinds of bread, all good! The service is excellent and prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend Toninos if you’re in the Malvern area.

Spend over $ 8 for the nastiest looking buffalo chicken cheese steak. There was about 12 tiles of dry chicken, with Kraft singles, and a little buffalo sauce scattered within a 12 inch roll. Could’ve fit easily in a 6 inch roll. I ate half and threw it out… I’d suggest john’s pizza in Frazer

I came here with a very large party, and the service was excellent and every dish I tried(many!) was incredible. I was very impressed! They have the best vodka sauce I have ever tried! Their pizza slices are ridiculously large! I had an incredible puttanesca dish. I could go on and on.

I went to Tonino’s last night with a group of friends. At first glance it just looks like a pizza place. Tables are hidden the back. I am Italian and normally am not overly impressed with eating Italian out! This place had amazing food! Prices are good and you get a lot of food. Hands down the best Meatballs I have ever had in a Restaurant. Bracciole that tasted like my mom used to make. You gotta try this place to believe it!!!

Went there with 18 people(made a reservation in advance). Service was great and attentive without being over bearing, food was great and the pizza was the best I have had on the mainline. We all had different dishes, salads, pizza and pasta and everyone walked away full and happy with nothing but great things to say about the food.

These people are super super nice and really try but they are inconsistent and food is often delivered cold as well as too salty. Their pizza in particular which is quite expensive is much too salty all the time. Someone’s hand is waaaay too heavy in the kitchen. Terrific salads and they definitely do Greek salad right

We ordered delivery from here for the first time tonight. The service was quick and friendly. Food was GREAT! I ordered the fettuccine that was homemade pasta, so tender and light, not a heavy dish. The serving size was huge! I couldn’t even finish it all.

What used to be Meditteraneo’s is now Tonino’s. What used to be a decent but not overly memorable pizza place is now a pizza and pasta restaurant trying to offer somewhat higher end Italian fare as well. I’m going to judge them straight on the pizza for now. So the challenge is to set themselves apart from the competition. There is significant competition locally for the lunchtime dollar. You need a hook. Their hook appears to be slices of pizza bigger than your head. Of course, this reminded me of Lorenzo’s on South Street right off the bat. Needless to say, that’s a high bar. If you’re going to give me a slice that reminds me of Lorenzo, you’d better be good. You’re not going to win just by being big. My verdict… It’s a good slice. Crust was perfectly fresh and crisp. The sauce lacked distinct flavor to me. I’d call it a 3 star slice based on what I like. But I can see others liking this more. Surprisingly I was still hungry. I went for a Buffalo Chicken slice. That’s the slice that got them the 4th star. I’m a fan of this pizza flavor, and it’s important for it not to taste like it’s been sitting out. This tasted nice and fresh, and a side of ranch sauce went perfectly. Compared to the local competition, I’d say they’re better than VIP, on par with Venice. I’m more of a Bruno’s fan locally, and I just enjoy his food a lot, so that is tough for me to put above him(plus he’s still the best lunch deal in town for value). But Tonino’s is a worthy competitor. They’re worth a shot. Give them a chance.
