Nothing about this place is inspiring. Right off a round about, total nite mare to get in. That’s not their fault however the food is. Worst piece of food I’ve had in my mouth in 20 yrs. Had a pastrami club that was cut in 3s? No pickle potato salad that was processed and mushed down served via 1920s ice cream scooper. Forgotten french fries by the waitress who asked me what I wanted so many times over. I ordered what my companion had just so she’d shut up. pastrami burnt and crinkled on the ends. Rye bread that was burnt. Companion had chix parm sandwich. That was frozen breaded chix patty and covered with ragu sauce. This food is garbage. The staff stink. Get a gas station hotdog across the street. This place is awful

Wish it was possible to give ½ a star, a full star uis too high a rating in my opinion. Stopped for breakfast on our way home from an early morning trek to drop off my daughter and mother in-law at the airport. So my wife, father in-law and myself decided to stop for breakfast here on our way home as it was conveniently located right off the Northway. Nice looking building and very clean inside, no one else was in the place when we rolled up at around 6:30AM. More came in and a few tables were filled by the time we left. Breakfast is normally nothing spectacular, but this we well below what I’d expect for something I’m going to pay $ 10 or more. I had the 2 eggs w/hash, home fries, side of sausage and toast, nothing very difficult — however this was one of the worst breakfasts I’ve ever had. Hash is from a can, almost no butter on the toast, home fries have no seasoning or flavor, and the sausage was cooked on the grill long enough to give it color then had to have been thrown in a microwave as the inside was way hotter than the outside. My wife had a similar breakfast minus the hash, her’s was just as pathetic. My father in-law Had a western omelette. The menu said it’s a 3 egg omelette, those must be small eggs as it looked like a sample size omelette, or maybe a 1 ½ egg omelette. Coffee was decent, so I guess that’ll justify the full 1 star rating I’m giving. Added Malta Diner to my list of places to avoid.

Tried this place a couple times in hopes for an improvement. For a prime location, this dinner could do better. The service was good. The staff was kind, and informative. They were welcoming to children and gave them homemade cookies. Refills were hard to fulfill. The price was ok, we didn’t feel like we were getting a great deal for our dollar, but it was not too expensive. The food was very bland. Nothing we tried was worth going back to eat again. Just looking at the menu, which was 5 or 6 pages full, I believe it’s safe to say they have too much of a variety and they need to consentrate on perfecting a few dishes. They just have so much variety they are trying to please everyone, and will end up pleasing noone. This place has a friendly dinner feeling to it, but there is just too much going on here. A bar, a pie display, baked goods on display. Easy to get to, great location right of the throu way and on the 9.

Now we know why the place was empty. My husband ordered a $ 11+ dollar burger that looked kiddy size. Seriously the size of one of those Mc Donald’s burgers from the dollar menu. No taste. I ordered a wrap. Maybe two ounces of chopped into tiny pieces chicken and extremely dry and tasteless. The only thing this place has going for it is the friendly service. Don’t come here if you want good food. $ 36 and we left hungry. Never again.

I had dinner at Malta Diner with my husband and young daughter on September 18th and my server was very lukewarm towards me and appeared rather annoyed when asked to repeat their soup options for the evening. After we placed our orders, she barely paid us no mind until she served us our meals. My husband’s order was incorrect, and he was given a hot open faced sandwich with what appeared to be some gloppy looking gravy on it. Our server immediately responded with the remark: Oh sh*t, I f*cked up! We were shocked to the core that she used inappropriate language in front of us and our young impressionable daughter! Our server then came back with my husband’s pastrami and rye and when I commented on her colorful language she immediately denied having said anything bad. The server then immediately ran over to the front where I witnessed her telling the cashier/host that she would never curse in front of a child. I was disappointed to hear her lie outright when my husband and daughter heard her clearly use bad language. Everyone makes mistakes, but she simply denied having done anything wrong and to boot she did not even think to apologize for her actions. At this point, I’d lost my appetite and simply had my husband pay for the check so that we could just leave. I will never patronize an establishment that is callous and uncaring towards their customers. When my husband mentioned this rather disturbing situation to the host/cashier, they simply let us walk out and we were treated as if we the customers did something wrong. My husband works in the area, and we are local however after this experience there I would just about eat anywhere but there.

Breakfast was delivered quickly, although it was slopped on the plate, and very little portions for the $ 13.00 !! I paid. A cafeteria cook(food warmer) could have prepared it better.

DONOTGOTOTHISPLACEON A SUNDAYMORNING. I was there yesterday, and the kitchen was very backed up. It would’ve been nice if the hostess or waitress warned people that the kitchen was backed up, but no. The guy sitting next to me at the counter grew tired of waiting for his omelet and left in a huff. I didn’t time it, but I waited, gosh, a good 45 minutes for my Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is epic, by the way. But worth that wait? No, not really. Another thing that irked me: the waitresses don’t help each other. Various waitresses grabbed the coffee pot from behind the counter and saw my empty coffee cup, but none offered to fill it. Since I’m not sitting in their area, I don’t matter. That’s one thing I like about Scotties in Wilton: the waitresses help each other. As for Malta, I may go there for breakfast on a weekday, but on a weekend, NOWAY.

Chad’s eSCAPE review Service. I have been here quite a few times. The staff always seems to be somewhat efficient but they are never very friendly. The last time I was there, it almost felt like I was being rushed to order, to close and to leave. Cost(+). Extremely reasonable prices for a very diverse menu. There are four full pages of offerings for breakfast, lunch and fuller diner-style meals. Atmosphere. It has a true big diner feel right along with greasy checkered table cloths and torn booths feel. I wouldn’t take a first date here! Palate(+). For big diner fare, their sandwiches and wraps are quite good. The onion rings are huge and the salads are fresh. I have been pleased with everything I have ordered. I will say though, the coffee is not very good for a diner(but I don’t go for the coffee). Everything Else(+). It has a great location in a quickly growing small town. I have used this as a stopping place before meetings on many occasions and there is ample space to sit and do some work in a fairly quiet environment. Even though I have never ordered liquor or beer here, it appears they have a full bar. Very interesting concept for a small town diner.

After giving this place half a dozen chances I’ve had enough. Honestly the only reason we go here and the only reason it is still in business is because it has a great location. Aside from that it has been consistently some of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. When your waitress greets you to take your order with«what do you want,» and walks away as you are finishing your order(yes this actually happened), you know it’s not going to be great. It really wasn’t even that busy I promise. Food is mediocre at best, the steak that came with the steak and eggs was cooked wrong for both of the guys in our party. Not much to be spectacular here, the menu choices are very standard with little inspiration. I guess it’s good cause they are hard to screw up completely. Don’t expect more then one refill on your coffee cup even during a breakfast from 8am to 930am. The bottom of my cup was bone dry for most of the time, and the waitress was nowhere to be seen to even request a refill. One of the guys actually got so fed up with the service that he got up and poured his own refill from behind the counter. Some of the other employees saw this, but no one even cared to say anything, stop him, or apologize for the service leading up to this. Trust me, it’s worth a drive to a different place. That’s what we will be doing in the future.

You know it’s bad when you ask your server how the Potato Salad is. and she says, «You know what? It’s not that bad.» Malta Diner will cut costs wherever possible and feed you pucks of strange formed animal parts as burgers. Barf. Don’t waste your time or money–

Pretty cool little dinner with a very friendly staff. Have enjoyed many breakfast and lunch meals and think they do a good job. The BLT is a winner and the link sausage is packed with flavor.

Waste of money. $ 7.50 for a roast beef sandwich. I asked if it came with lettuce tomato pickle and chips. She returned my question with«would you like it?» I said yes if it comes with it. I get just the sandwich. PATHETIC. maybe 3oz of meat in a roll with lettuce and a slice of tomato. No chips. No pickle. No coleslaw. Just a wimpy sandwich. Got the check and I was charged an extra 50 cents for the tomato slice. $ 8.00 total. Lousy service. Lousy portions. Are you kidding me!!!

We had planned to eat in Albany on a drive to Crossgates Mall from Glens Falls, but the daughter was starving and it was snowing and the heck with it, we got off the Northway and luckily there was The Malta Diner. The four of us all had soups, and the corn and crab chowder tasted like more, please. Future son-in-law had the baked mac and cheese special, which looked like home and was enough for three people, honestly. Daughter had a turkey and bacon wrap she loved, and I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Three generous slices and homemade potatoes, excellent but I wish I had been offered the option of a vegetable. Served without one, it seemed oddly spartan and a little less homey, despite being absolutely delicious. I was the only one who went for dessert, a heaping slice of coconut cream pie that almost everyone at the table demanded a bite of. I was under attack! It was a fantastic piece of pie, though, with a terrific custardy taste and texture and a nice big layer of fresh-tasting whipped cream on top. I seriously would go back again just for another piece of that pie. Convenient off the Northway, with a spacious, clean and modern interior, The Malta Diner is likely to get a return visit by my gang soon.

This Malta Diner is great — and I’m pretty picky. We hit it every time we are in the neighborhood, which is a good number of times. The food is above-par, the prices are at parity with other diners and the staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. Over the years, I have lost a couple of things at the diner and, as I live quite far away, they went out of their way and mailed them to me.(who does that anymore!)

Don’t bother with this place. Lousy food and mediocre service. With what I witnessed in plain view while eating my lunch, I don’t even want to know the cross-contamination that happens behind closed doors in the kitchen. Never seen staff eating/drinking in plain view of customers so much in my entire life. Watched a waitress count her tips on top of a placemat with clean silverware. Also subdued to a busboy getting handsy with a waitress. Our waitress coughing and not washing her hands, applying Chapstick right in front of us. This place skeeves me out. Couldn’t eat here again on good conscience.

It’s a good diner… pretty standard menu for breakfast(good chocolate chip pancakes) and good eggs Benedict. I tend to hold the breakfast potato as a measure of a restaurant — Malta Diner’s are home fry style versus hash brown. The seasoning was tasty however I prefer a more crisp potato. I’ve ordered gyros off the lunch menu as well and was happy. The service is always attentive and friendly.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews on this place. My boyfriend and I have been here a few times now since moving into the neighborhood and have not been disappointed. Fast, friendly service from Margie, delicious breakfast(especially the omelets) and reasonable prices. We’ll be back often! Ignore the negative reviews and go check this place out when you’re in the mood for good diner food!

This place is terrible, stay away! Went in this morning and place was empty out front. Back room had a small party of maybe 20 people. Before I even sat down waitress says its going to be a while because we have to serve party first. I really didn’t think anything of it until I realized 10 minutes went by and our waitress was just going to sit at the counter and ignore us. So when I got up and told her we were leaving she came over and amazingly was able to squeeze us in with the kitchen. She acted like she was doing us a huge favor so we asked her why don’t you just put a sign on the door if you don’t want customers to come in. Then our food came out in about 2 minutes and once again(I have given this place many chances, don’t know why) it was a below average breakfast at a high price. Do yourself a favor and drive 15 minutes over to the ugly rooster in mechanicsville if you want a real breakfast..

Mundane Malta There is nothing special about this diner. The French Toast — tasted like the faux French toast served in a New York city public elementary school cafeteria back in the 90s. The Corned Beef Hash — tasted like it was right out the can. The hash browns had too much paprika on them. On the upside, the senior citizen serving staff were all well-mannered and full of sunshine.

Terrible food and terrible service. I ordered the buffalo chick wrap at the recommendation of the waitress. It was served with out the buffalo sauce. When I asked for the sauce, they returned to the table with a bottle of redhot. That was the last I ever saw of the waitress. After a long wait, I finally had to walk to to the counter and ask someone else to bring me a final check. I would never return
