Good fish and chips and great chili cheese fries! Unfortunately, the fish tacos were subpar and seasoned poorly. It didn’t have much flavor or depth to the taco, and it was really plain. Not worth the $ 12. Interesting bikers stop, good vibes.

Love Neptune’s Net!!! We got the Neptune sampler, and it was delicious! Everything was expertly fried, and the seafood was very fresh! It included fish, scallops, clams, calamari, shrimp, and fries. So much food! Next time, I definitely want to try their raw stuff. They have another section to the right when you first walk in that serves steamed and raw seafood. I think that would be the way to go for me next time. It’s a very casual place with beach seating with a beautiful view of the water. Can’t wait to go back! Happy eating!

I’d like to start off by the 3rd star being earned by their awesome piña colada slush/frozen drink they have going on here, sweet and strong just perfect and refreshing. As far as food I was disappointed with my grilled fish tacos lacking meat and a really good salsa to pair with it. Maybe I should’ve opted for fried, those dishes seemed more popular? I Would be open to returning. Another plate ordered was the kids chicken tenders with was more fries than tenders, also a little disappointing. However on an upside, the chowder and piña colada made all these things better! Also warning: scary bathrooms.

A cool place to seek out 1 time but dont think I will be heading back there anytime soon. As it is a fun spot with a gas station kinda décor and feel the alch. drinks were in a fridge and then a counter to order your fried fish with a pick up window. I wasn’t blown away by the food and the seating was limited so there was a wait. I am not sure if there are bikers there every weekend but that made for a loud noise level as the seating is out doors at a first come basis. It is cool to check out if you passing but to drive from LA just for this, I would say pass until your local.

I don’t know about this place… I don’t think the food is sitting well on my tummy… Presentation is great… Food looks good and appetizing… but man, the grease!!! One bite… and you could squeeze enough oil on the fried foods we ordered for another batch!!! I think the beer and fried stuff goes well together…(That’s if I ordered beer)… This food is just something you need to be really craving for to be enjoyed… Just saw a girl rudely pass by us because she needed to yack in the corner… found out a few seconds later that it was because of the greasy food… So far, so good… My queasy tummy is holding… The location is great… The atmosphere pretty good… Bikers everywhere… but you better know to fend for yourself when you claim your seats…

I really do love this place, but I can’t give it more than three stars. It is just too crowded with not enough seating and difficult parking.(At least on weekends). Having said that, its a really fun place to take visitors. If you are coming from LA, its the perfect drive up the coast and a fun meal of fresh seafood. The giant deep fried seafood platter is a must, as long as you aren’t on a diet. We tend to just get that with drinks and split it all. They also have fresh seafood as well that isn’t dipped in batter and oil, if thats more your thing. Do not come here if you don’t like seafood, there are very few other options. This is also a major biker hangout so expect to see a lot of leather and here a lot of rumbling engines. After you eat, you can walk along the sea bluff for some great views!

Neptune’s has great character, I enjoyed my experience there, & had a really good seat overlooking the ocean &PCH :) We saw a Shelby Daytona Coupe cruising down PCH. I tried the clam chowder & the seafood sampler. I would recommend just getting a bunch of crab cakes & fries lol. My friend was excited about the huge selection of beers to choose from inside. I’m not a big beer fan but agreed to try one…

Vegetarian review: On the plus side: they have a garden burger. They have a grilled cheese. And they have fries. So you won’t starve. The grilled cheese was not too bad, considering the place is called NEPTUNE’S NET. Sourdough bread, two types of cheese(yellow and white) and plenty of it, all sitting on a bed of fries. The toast was actually perfectly done, all greasy and crunchy, so that was nice. Filling enough after a long ride. Seating: grab a seat first if it’s busy. There are long tables and small tables, and gigantic tables, but there aren’t boatloads of them. The drinks area was interesting– kinda reminds me of 7 – 11. Pick a drink from the fridge area, bring it on up, and then order. There are tons to choose from, half of them alcoholic. After you order, they’ll call your number at the pick-up window. In the meantime, get napkins, ketchup and hot sauce at the free– for– all pumps, and sit back to enjoy the breeze. And the bikes. And more bikes…

My boyfriend and I decided to take a long drive to Malibu from Santa Barbara to go to Neptunes Net. It was a beautiful drive on a hot and sunny day and well worth it for the fish and chips. Neptunes Net was insanely busy with what I assume was a biker show out infront. Their was no seating for over 30 minutes and the line was wrapped around the building. I guess you can’t blame the business for being busy haha Plus, their beer selection and the gorgeous view made up for it.

I ordered the triple combo of shrimp, fish, and crab cake. I liked every bit of it, though it was a bit oily. The line to order was long here but it’s expected; Neptune’s seems to be a popular spot. The person in front of me received their clam chowder before leaving the register. Despite reading that they are famous for it, it didn’t sound flattering until I saw it in front of me. I’d definitely try it next time. We actually skipped the line to grab a table and walked across to sit on some boulders by the small cliff by the ocean. I definitely preferred that to sitting in a crowd of people eating their food.

Super long line!!! This is a biker’s joint, with rows of motorcycles around the front, but don’t let them intimidate you! Everyone pretty much minds their own business and just want some beer and good food. The line wraps down to the back, which looks like a convenience store. Most people come for their great selection of beers and other drinks, and there’s a drink only purchase line for that. Although the line is very chaotic at times, the staff is great and quick in cleaning everything up for the next group. We got: 1) Neptune Sampler — Fish, shrimp, scallop, clam strips, crab cake, calamari and fries. I could have done without the clam strips but OMG this is perfect if you are indecisive like me. All the seafood is so fresh, although the clam strips weren’t as fresh, and the crab cake was very savory. They’re very generous with the shrimp, calamari and fries, so I really enjoyed this basket! 2) ½ pint clam chowder — This is basically one cup. It is very delicious but seems a bit pricey for what it is. This cup was about $ 4. Maybe a one time try? But such a neat place to hang out at. It is such a casual environment. Definitely try it if you are driving down PCH. Also, it’s not too far from Camarillo outlets :)

I got the«grilled» shrimp tacos and my husband got the fried scallops basket. Fries in the basket and scallops were fine but the scallops are small and there’s only 6. The shrimp tacos were pretty terrible. First of all there seemed to be nothing grilled about it. They were the tiny shrimps that seemed poached. The torillas were falling apart and the flavor was not very good. I also got a half pint of chowder and the potatoes were under done and the flavor was similar to what you might get out of a can. We got 1 bottled sofa, beer, tacos, scallops and chowder for about 40 bucks. That was not bad and worth the extra star. Self seating with lots of people so there was literally a line to grab a seat. They had glorified porta potties, that didn’t smell, for restrooms and apparently a favorite stop for bikers.

Great seafood and very generous portion! I tried Neptune’s for the first time yesterday and I really enjoyed the seafood there. I ordered shrimp and chips and it came with 8 shrimps, Coleslaw’s and fries. The shrimps were crispy and the portion was very generous. I also ordered the clam chowder and it was filled with clams and potatoes at every bite. The potatoes were a little undercooked but the chowder is very creamy As for prices, the seafood and chips run about $ 12 to $ 14. They also serve tacos, steamed seafood and fish burgers for about $ 14. The place gets packed very quickly but I recommend getting takeout and eating near the beach. Great seafood!

I normally enjoy the food and the location is awesome. However, I would not suggest ordering your food in advance. I showed up at 1230 to get my tuna melt and it looked and felt like it had been sitting out for a good half hour or more. The bread and fries were completely soggy. The legendary Neptune’s net embodies«true California». Images that swirl through my mind range from iconic Hollywood movies, Harley Davidson poker runs, and of course dining on fresh seafood brought to you by the god of the sea, Neptune himself. These are some of the many reasons that it is the subject of my 400th review. The coastline north of Malibu is a favorite location for Hollywood movie sets with it’s natural beauty. The ocean and rolling hills are relatively undisturbed by development and Neptune’s Net is nestled in this prime location. The Epic film fight from 1983’s «losing it» was filmed there and subsequently many more have followed. There is always a possibility of running into a celebrity on the outdoor patio. Motorcycle clubs frequent Neptune’s Net, on any given weekend the shiny bikes line the highway out front. Bikers congregate over a beer and some grub at one of the favorite stops on their poker runs. Many beachfront restaurants rely only on the location to generate business, but Neptune’s net delivers decent food to their following. Ordering may be a challenge for virgins. The north building sells self serve beer and wine in the refrigerator section and sells fried foods amd sammies. You have gotta go south side for their specialty seafood products. When«She Devil» is around I order onion rings and fried seafood and enjoy the decadent delights immensely. My guardian angel politely reminds me to order salad with grilled tuna that tastes great and will not break my diet. The scale could tip either way. I would rate the food alone at 4 stars, yet I am still raising the review to 5 stars for the total package which says a lot, given the fact that the only restrooms are outhouses. Whether you are touring the California coast, riding a bike or simply hungry I recommend a pit stop at Neptune’s net where you can eat, socialize, people watch and enjoy life in true California style.

This place is great, like some other reviews mention there is a diverse crowd. Upon arrival you may see large groups of bikers out front, with the aroma of sticky green weed burning everywhere, but don’t let that stop you. There are street bikers jiving with Harley riders, sports cars enthusiasts, and gear heads of all types coming together with no signs of malicious intent. Families with young children treated with respect while everyone gets beverages and excellent seafood at reasonable prices. We found a parking spot went up to the front door where a sign clearly states the routine… when you find a table, claim it, then go in and order. I picked the seafood sampler for me and my wife to pick at… huge. Selection of beer and soda among others is reminiscent of a liquor store… with huge selection. While you eat the bikers will recycle their presence, with 10 – 15 leaving at a time… racing off to Malibu while 10 – 15 more fly in. Almost an entertainment factor. All said and done food was great… I peeped people having corn and shrimp and tacos. Everything was looking choice.

Sad to say that we did not have a great experience at Neptune’s Net. We came here on a Wednesday night while driving up 101 from LA to Santa Barbara. We stopped for a quick dinner, and we ordered the fried fish sandwich and two orders of the fish tacos to split among the four of us. Apparently there are two sides to this establishment: the seafood side and restaurant side. You order at the counter on both sides, and pick up your food when your number is called. We assumed that the seafood side was just where you bought fish to take home and cook, so we went directly to the restaurant side. But as we were leaving we saw someone getting a cooked crab leg from that side, and it looked really good. I think we would have been better off on the fresh seafood side, because the food on the restaurant side really wasn’t very good. The fish sandwich was basically something we could have gotten at any fast food restaurant, not bad but not great. The fish tacos were the weirdest, though. We asked for the fish to be grilled, but it came out shredded, and dry. It honestly had the consistency of saw dust. It was difficult to chew. My mom couldn’t even finish hers. Other unfortunate things: we were told that the inside seating was closed for some reason(even though there were still people sitting in there) so we were forced to sit outside in the very cold weather. There was a heat lamp above our table but it didn’t do much. So we scarfed down our weird food and got out of there, after stopping briefly at the bathroom… which turned out to be porta potties. And not really clean ones. So anyway, not our favorite place. Maybe we ordered wrong, maybe we came at the wrong time, but this review is based on the less than stellar experience that we had.

Neptune’s Net is a seafood restaurant and biker bar in Malibu. A very crowded and very popular biker bar. I suppose it also doesn’t help that The Fast and the Furious(2001) was filmed here. According to my boyfriend, Paul Walker and Vin Diesel eat shrimp at this restaurant. Fried shrimp to be exact. Anyways, we decided to give it a try and I highly recommend avoiding peak hours because this place is chaotic and out of control! It’s also not the cleanest place neither but you’re here for the atmosphere and the vibe… if eating with a bunch of bikers is your thing. It’s not mine personally. Anyways there are two sides to the restaurant. It’s basically fried food and seafood. We decided to just stick to the fried stuff. We ordered some clam chowder, a crab cake sandwich, and a combo plate which came with fried shrimp, friend fish and some fries. Out of everything, the clam chowder was by far the best thing. it was rich and pretty delicious. I enjoyed the chowder and wished that I had just gotten the bread bowl instead of everything else. The fried shrimp though was pretty good. Not too greasy and crisp. I did not care for the fried fish at all. Way too oily and the fish was pretty thin also. I had to drown it in their tartar sauce to get some flavor on the fish also. But the worst thing that we ate were definitely the crab cakes. I could barely taste any crab meat and there was a strange flavor to it that I could not get over. Did not enjoy it at all. There are good things about eating at old school intuitions like Neptune’s but there’s also a lot of bad. The seating situation at this place drives me crazy because it’s pretty much first come first serve but it’s just out of control. The line just to order the food was ridiculous too and I really felt like the whole place could use a good deep scrubbing or two. I also felt like it was somewhat overpriced but I guess if you’re located in Malibu, you can afford to overcharge things. I’m not entirely sure what the appeal is, but I guess it’s just A-OK. 3⁄5

The biker spot. Every time I’ve been in Malibu I would always pass this place, which is known for their deep fried goodness. Well we finally stopped here. Pulled up in the motorcycle parking too, had to get the full experience. It’s a cute little fast food joint in a sense. Seating is very limited so when a spot opens, better jump on it. Also you need to grab a drink before ordering. We got the shrimp basket. Fried airy battered shrimp with fries. For dessert I got a giant waffle cone with vanilla frozen yogurt. Really good tasting food. I will definitely be stopping in again.

Which was perfect to find a seat and not be stuck in traffic. For starters we tried Neptune’s Sampler $ 12.95 which consisted of Fish, shrimp, scallop, clam strips, crab cake, calamari. Absolutely amazing. A great way to try different items Neptune’s has to offer. This feeds about 2 – 3 people. Since I was still hungry I decided to order some fish tacos. OMG. SOOOOOGOOD! I’ve noticed many reviews talk about the atmosphere & ambience of this place; that movies were filmed here and celebrities come here, etc. But since we ordered to go, and the fact that I don’t find that how many celebs are present to be relevant, I can’t speak towards it. So we came out to Point Magu State Beach for a picnic & day in the sun. There aren’t many food options in that area so we drove for a bit & found this place. Supposedly it’s been here forever & it’s a landmark but we were not impressed. It was jam packed. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s famous or because there aren’t any other options around, but it was. We ordered & waited for the food so we could take it back to the beach. The whole process took about 20 – 25 minutes. When we finally got back to the beach with the food, I opened the bags & knew this was a mistake. The food looked horrible & tasted even worse. The burger was definitely a frozen patty that they threw on the grill. It tasted like paper. The chopped beef on the tacos was hard & also tasteless. The fries were soggy & blah. It was almost as if they made no effort & just threw in the towel with our order. Perhaps it would’ve tasted better if we had ordered seafood but the food we did order was so bad, I’m not really motivated to give them another shot. I don’t care if your specialty is seafood, if you can’t cook anything else, don’t have it on your menu.

Took the PCH on a mini road trip to this spot. Great place to people watch and check out motorcycles… tons of bikers here. Lots of people but food came out quickly and there was parking! Probably because most patrons come on bikes ;) We ordered the fish and chips, fish tacos and salad with tuna. Surprisingly the healthiest item, the salad, was my favorite. The chips were good. The fish tacos were disgusting. Don’t get them! They were fishy, flavorless and chunky tuna can consistency(but not tuna fish… it was a white fish). STILL I really enjoyed the place. We also bought a bottle of white wine from them(and they have beer) which was nice. Worth a visit — it’s a very unique spot.

It pains me that I’m giving this place just 3 stars, but at the same time I feel like I’m also being generous. Growing up in Southern California, this place is basically my backyard. Whenever I go out of town, I make it a point to take the PCH home from LAX just so that I can stop here for a quick bite. I’m not entirely sure what happened in the last five years, but the quality of the food as well as the service hasn’t been up to par. I get that it’s a tourist spot and all, but gone are the days when being here felt like I was hanging out at a friend’s backyard. My sister and nephew from New Jersey are in town and they requested to eat here so of course I had to play tour guide. We were a party of 9 and took up a whole table towards yhe back by the fresh seafood area. As I wasn’t hungry or cared to order anything, I let everyone order whatever. They all wanted clam chowder and some fried stuff so we got the sampler. I tried the chowder and it didn’t taste as good as I remember. The sampler was ok. The calamari and fish were decent. The only upside to eating here is the view and bumping into random celebs who live in the area. I once saw Ryan Seacrest on a date with Teri Hatcher, David Charvet and Brooke Burke and a bunch of other random folks.

I need to stress: you don’t come here to have a nice meal, you come here for atmosphere, fried food, and maybe some beers. Who doesn’t love eating by the beach? Tip: Come with someone. Claim a seat while the other person waits in line. That’s the only way to survive the chaotic place. Its always packed and you don’t want to be the idiot who is carrying a hot plate of food, pouting, and complaining that no one is leaving like a 4 year old(i’ve seen that happen during my visit). The fried seafood platter was just ok. Not the freshest I’ve had and a bit bland. I needed all 10 tiny cups of cocktail sauce and tarter sauce to get through the greasy food. Ambiance: a lot of bikers here that look like they’re from Sons of Anarchy but they are all pretty friendly so don’t be intimidated.

Now this place has really good food, the only reason I am giving it a 4 stars instead of 5 is the seating situation, the sign out from says«find a seat and claim it!!» Now I wasn’t expecting it to be difficult to get a seat but that was a task in itself, now most of the tables had someone standing by almost every table waiting for the customer that was already sitting and eating and waiting for them to leave, I found that to be annoying when you have someone standing close to you waiting for you to leave. But that’s all for that part. On to the food. There is 2 sides to ordering, one is the seafood side, which is mostly all your fresh steamed food, not fried, then oh have you restaurant side which is your grilled and fried foods. We ordered neptunes sampler which is a fried plate, comes with fish, calamari, clams, mussels, crab cake, and French fries, it was delicious! Can feed 3 people, we also got an order of fish and chips, a grilled mahi mahi plate and a pound of large shrimp, the food was 5 stars, all delicious and full of flavor. A tip to everyone, order from the restaurant side first then order at the seafood side because your seafood side will come out much faster then your restaurant side. I would come here again, but next time, I would take it to go and eat it on the beach across the street to avoid the seating situation.

Sigh… yesterday was our first occasion to try Neptune’s Net… and it was BARELY consumable?! I’m NOT delusional. I believe the oil used might have been on it’s last legs… and I actually LIKE deep fried seafood fare… and this was NOT good fare. If this is typical and others rate this more then 3 stars — then I suspect they DON’T KNOWWHAT good seafood is like? Plus they’re rating it 3 stars compared to the LOCAL competition — and(chuckles) … there is nothing near by to compete against! GIVEME A BREAK and open your eyes and mind! We just split a triple combo plate — with Calamari, clam strips and shrimp + fries and cole slaw. Sigh. the slaw was a not a side order size — it was a tiny sample size like what you’d get from the COSTCO sampling people. It was like 1.25 inches in diameter and filled FLAT with dry TASTELESS slaw? Really? The quantity of seafood was comparable to what you’d get at Trader Joes frozen for making a small serving… however it just might be fresh here? If not — OMG but what a rip off for — was it 16.95? Our friends got the bigger combo boxes pictured. Prices are fiar for Malibu — compared to elsewhere plus considering this was in Ventura county(not Malibu) I’d say it’s priced like a TOURISTTRAP(sorry to say). I’m sorry to report this as so BAD~D~D but I have CLEARLY had far superior fare everywhere else I’ve been. No where worse then here for seafood? My daughter and I felt mildly SICK from consuming a dozen or so fries and sampling a bit of the rest… which I can attest was ONE shrimp, a few calamari and oysters. The rest we passed on… Sigh. Right now I am wavering between ONE and TWO stars. Why two is the big question? Quantity was modest or insultingly small for the price. Quality is probably certain to be BAD. Taste … well it actually had decent flavor with a huge tidal wave of WHATWASTHATSENSATIONOFNASTYOILORFOULGREASEONMYTONGUE? This was followed by a slight GAG reflex… gulp of water … then a moment of quiet reflection as I sort of stared silently at the food fare wondering … what was that I just ate? If not for us being there with friends and lots of pleasant conversation I would have returned our box of «food» and done what I VERYRARELYDO… Demand the manager TASTE his own stuff and remake it /or more likely no = I don;t want it remade. He can then pause to offer a refund or I’ll just thank him and leave to spread my tale of dread and horror. So why two stars? The place was reasonably clean — the staff seemed somewhat busy and efficient in their tasks. I liked the vibe inside and outside… well … parking was available in their lot and the location was across the street from the Pacific! Nice views and typical benches. Staff gets a negative frown for pushing a garbage can past and NOT yielding to me and another patron. I guess he was in a hurry to push his burden while ignoring us paying sorts? Also their ketchup and water dispensers were nearly empty. When I got there patrons were tilting the water dispenser to get something into their cups then when we left they I found myself doing the same. The place was NOT so busy that they might have refilled and already emptied it. They were remiss in servicing those things. You’d think they knew by now guests would drink water and consume ketchup? I guess I’m going to remove the 2nd star now that I’m thinking about it. The single star is for location and decent facilities. Service is a push with courtesy and efficient behind the counter activity off set by lack of service over a protracted period and a missed courtesy cue to me and another patron on our side of the counter. THREE stars off for missing the primary function of the place — to serve edible fare. The shrimp was the closest to being normal — the fries were the worst yesterday. Dang… 12 hours later now and I can STILL taste the NASTY sensation on my tongue. Sorry to do this — it is a RARE single star award for my first visit — and to think I’ve lived in Malibu for decades and not dined here until now? I guess that might have been a good thing.

I’m not going to lie, I initially came here because of the first Fast and the Furious. We happened to be in SoCal for Memorial Day weekend and decided to take Highway 1 through Malibu on the way home. I realized that we would be passing Neptunes Nest and I just had to try it. Even though the food wasn’t the initial reason why I came here, I was pleasantly surprised by the food. We ordered a Shrimp Basket Combo and the Clam Chowder Bowl. The clam chowder was delicious. I’m a huge fan of Monterey’s clam chowder but Neptunes Nest chowder, dare I say it… is comparable. The bread was fresh and the chowder was creamy and had a generous portion of clams and veggies. The shrimp combo was also very good. They were fried perfectly which gives you a nice crunch but a juicy tender shrimp on the inside. It can get pretty packed here but don’t fret. Walk across the street, sit on a rock and eat while gazing out to the Pacific Ocean. This was a perfect end to our vacation and will be a guaranteed stop whenever I come back to SoCal.

Tourist trap? Kinda. It is the only seafood restaurant, or restaurant rather off the strip of the PCH in the area. Totally a bikers hangout/drive-thru, so just beware if you are sensitive to loud motors and the smell of gasoline. A little annoying when you are actually trying to have a conversation and you need to pause every so often between engine noises. Order steamed seafood in the front and fried seafood/burgers on the other side. Bathrooms are a bunch of porta-potties that are decently maintained outside. Ordered: Fish and Calamari Combo: Came with fries. Fries were thin and somewhat crunchy. Decent. Calamari was cooked well, just a shame it was too salty for my taste. Fish was done well, nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary. Didn’t try the coleslaw. Fiancée and friend ordered the pull pork sandwich, and both said it was definitely not their specialty. The restaurant also forgot coleslaws on their order… which judging by our dish, is only the size of a condiment holder. Not the best seafood I’ve had, but does its job. Don’t order the pulled pork.

Ive been coming to Neptune’s Net for years. It is my favorite spot on Pacific coast highway. It is my favorite spot because it is comfy, small, good food and right next to a surf spot. I enjoy the diverse beer selection from Mexican, American, German, Hawaiian and various others. I usually get the fish and shrimp combo or fish and chips. It comes with a side of coleslaw and fries. The coleslaw is okay but everything else is bomb! I suggest first pick your drink whether it is alcoholic or not then proceed to the ordering line and put your order in. I love cruising from the San fernando valley down to PCH and grab a bite to eat and drink at Neptune’s net. A fun day in my book! Fun fact: A scene from the first Fast and the furious was shot here!

I know that this is one of those famous places in Malibu that everyone talks about, so I finally decided to give it a try today. There are 2 main sides to the restaurant, the restaurant side and the seafood side. The restaurant side seemed to have mostly fried items and was the most popular. The seafood side was mostly steamed seafood. We tried the seafood and ordered a pound of shrimp. It was on the pricey side(about 20 for a pound). When we got the food, we were disappointed as the shrimp seemed overcooked and not as fresh. It was also on Sunday afternoon so very hard to find a place to sit. It seemed like most people were eating the fried items on the restaurant side. Maybe next time, we will try that. Overall, I was disappointed by the food.
