I am very disappointed with the service. This one host was very not nice to me and my gf very rude! If you want your night to be bad this is the place to go. I will never go back.

I was so excited to come to Malibu and eat seafood but I was very disappointed with the service. The host were so rude I asked if they could please give us a table at the window or close to window since it was my first time with my family and she just said no. There were so many tables open. The host put us in a closed room with no view and we waited for 40min. Just sucks that the host don’t know how to treat customers esp if it’s there first time. They were out of calamari. The server took a while with our order. The busser was so nice that’s why I gave a star. I am very disappointed and I would not recommend this place. There are way more better places then in Malibu.

The best wedding venue ever. I got married last night and everything was absolutely amazing, the food was wonderful, the staff was amazing. Natalie(our Dukes Liaison) was so sweet and helpful. The best part, well my bridal party was down in the sand taking pictures, we were able to see dolphins jumping out in the ocean … I am so glad we chose Files as our venue, it made for a truly magical evening.

Have revisited for lunch several times and once for dinner. Have been very pleased with the food and service. Great job! Rating have bee adjusted to reflect our opinion. Last time we had lunch. We sat on the outdoor patio and loved being right at the edge of the ocean! The food was delicious!

Can I just say, I couldn’t help but feel like I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii all over again! My husband and I were so excited to find Duke’s here in LA after visiting it for the first time in Hawaii, and their food and drinks were just as yummy! The hostess for the patio was absolutely amazing! She was on top of it when we told her we really wanted a table out there, even though she quotes us an hour wait, we literally waited 10 minutes before she jumped on the next open table and rushed us over there! The view? Spectacular, their barefoot bar? The perfect spot for a brunch, lunch, even dinner! I can’t wait to come back on a Friday for the dancing and dinner! I just wish their«barefoot bar» was really out in the sand but I’ll take a meal right above the ocean anytime!

Came here for lunch while we were in Malibu celebrating our Anniversary same time last year. We were seated right away since we had called in for a reservation 15 minutes before arriving. Since we had our kids with us, we figured we could get a beautiful view at a family friendly restaurant. We received that & more. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. It was a bit busy but we got seated towards the back away from loud guests. This restaurant has great window seats with gorgeous views.

Food is good for lunch. View is amazing. 30 minutes and I have to send out a search party to find my food and no appetizer that was ordered? Two stars down. They did apologize and buy a dessert. Star back

This is average food in a great location. The place was packed, but we found a seat at the bar. I had a cold Sculpin and fish tacos. It took awhile for the tacos, they had a decent piece of fish, with a little spice.

I was here on a Wednesday evening around 5 pm. It is located a few miles down the road from Zuma beach where we spent most of the day. I had read a lot of reviews that said the food was mediocre at best, but decided to try it anyway. Pulling into the parking lot, there was a $ 6 valet to park in the lot right in front of the restaurant, I see no reason for this valet service… Also, a few hours prior we drove past the place on our way to the beach and it was $ 3. Looks like they just change the price of valet during peak times. The only reason why I gave it two stars was because our waitress, Carmelita, was extremely friendly. I was in a party of three. We ordered crab wontons which needed more cream cheese, but the crab was fresh tasting. Both my friends got food poisoning from their meals, one ordered the chilled shrimp and crab salad, the other one ordered the fish tacos. We had to pull over on the side of the road later that evening because she had nausea and vomiting. The fish tacos sent my other friend on multiple bathroom trips. I did enjoy my sesame fish bowl but the kimchi was way too salty. The ONLY thing I would get here is the lava flow drink, perfect blend of rum strawberries and coconut. I won’t be coming back, no one wants food poisoning on vacation.

The ambiance here at Duke’s is fun; feels like you’re on vacation. We dined on a Saturday evening and got to enjoy the ukulele and songs from«Uncle» and his crew. AJ was our server and was super friendly and attentive(he is the reason for the three-star review vs. two). I ordered steak, which came out rubbery and felt like it was microwaved. The sides were few and far between. Friends I dined with had the parmesan crusted fish, which looked quite tasty. They said it was good, but was less than their expectations of dining in ‘da ‘bu. I just feel like Duke’s is overpriced, touristy and lacks quality that you would expect of such an establishment that prides itself on location and character. Even though the vibe here at Duke’s is amusing, I’d rather enjoy top-notch food any day!

This is the bessssst casual spot in Malibu! We started out with the Coconut Shrimo Croquettes. Awesome! I had the Parmesan Crusted fish — it was great and I love the capers and rice! Yum! My lovely date had the salmon — he’s picky, he didn’t like it! I thought it was great! The mac n cheese is he real winner here! So good! We also got a side of the carrots, I loved them! To drink I enjoyed a patron silver margarita, four times over… :) Our server was great! Super nice guy.

Took a trip to Malibu and was looking for somewhere dog friendly. Duke’s came up on multiple blogs and on Unilocal for allowing dogs so I made a reservation. After valeting my car and walking in with my dog, the hostess rudely informed me that they are NOT dog friendly. I turned around and walked out, will not be going back here simply because of how rude the hostess was.

Decent place for lunch in Malibu. The food is all fine. There’s nothing here that’s great outside of the view. I wish there was more patio seating. Always a wait.

5 stars for service and view! Thanks Matt you made our visit today great… valet parking $ 4. Wait time 0, since they were just opening, it’s Wednesday, and I had a reservation. The staff is super friendly and attentive. They made my 8 year birthday girl feel very special and welcomed. Matt took care of requests promptly and had great humor. Cannot say one bad thing about service! The view is pretty amazing! I will be definitely coming back! The ocean next to our table is breath taking. Food was okay. We had strawberry lemonades, wasn’t a fan of. My daughter had fish n chips and coconut shrimp. It was good, not the best I’ve tried. I had grilled shrimp with garlic butter sauce and jasmine rice. Desert, we had the hula pie which was delicious. If it was just the view and service I came for I would give it 5 stars. However I came for food and I give it 3 stars. I also wish they had a bigger selection on seafood plates.

Came here the other day after spending some time at the beach. It was about 1pm on a Friday and they were fairly busy. Parking is by valet and costs $ 3. Was in a group of 7 and had a 45 minute wait to be seated. Overall décor of the restaurant is nice and you have an absolutely beautiful view of the ocean from the dining area! It is a bit cramped, people walking behind me constantly would accidentally bump my chair which got kind of annoying. It was also uncomfortably loud due to how busy it was. As far as the food goes I ordered grilled fish tacos and they were pretty good. They had great flavor and were cooked very well. Not the greatest fish tacos I have ever had but far from the worst I have ever tasted. Our waiter was really friendly and fast when responding to our requests. Overall experience was OK the seating area was to cramped and loud and the food was alright. Probably would not come back to this location unless I knew they were less busy.

We LOVE Duke’s! The first time I ate here was at the original location in Waikiki Beach. The Malibu location was going to have to live up to a HIGH standard… And it did! The drive there was beautiful(we’re tourists, obvs). We didn’t sit inside. Make sure to sit outside in the Barefoot Bar area on a nice day. It’s worth it. Get the fish tacos. I don’t even care for fish… But their fish tacos are amazing! Fried is more flavorful, but grilled is JUST as good. Get one grilled and one fried to try them both. The little chips and salsa you get with the tacos are delicious as well.

This place is all about the view. Should the weather permit, have a seat in the outdoor patio so you can feel that fresh ocean air and breathe it all in. Because this spot is right on the coastline, all you can do is just enjoy it. So why the 3 stars? Because the food was simply«ok.» Nothing spectacular. The Barefoot Bar Nachos were piled high and looked great but when it came down to taste, it was lacking. The chicken was a little bland, the beans on the dry side. The Hula Pie was *huge.* And the cute spoons with the«Duke’s» engraved onto the spoons were a nice touch. But once we bit into it, all of us agreed that the chocolate tasted manufactured, and the cake part of the pie didn’t have that quality you would expect from a place like this. I personally thought I could make a better brownie and top it with ice cream, drizzle it with some real fudge for a much better dessert. Would I come back? Yes. For the views alone.

I honestly don’t know why this place isn’t at a higher rating?! I gave it 5 stars because I would definitely recommend this place and will be returning! Came here on a Sunday late morning with a group of 8 friends to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. Didn’t mind the valet parking for $ 6. Beats trying to find parking off the busy PCH. We already made reservations however, the birthday girl wanted to sit outside in the Barefoot Bare, but it is a first come first serve basis. They take no reservations for that area. We waited to get a table, but realized that we would need 2 tables to accommodate our large party so we decided to go back to our reservations inside. Although we were about 30 min early for our reservations, staff was able to accommodate us and even fulfilled our request of sitting next to the window. It took a while for the server to take our drink order, but once he acknowledged us he was on point! Continuously asking if we need any condiments, refilling our drinks We all got the $ 29AYCE Sunday Brunch. Best $ 29 I have spent on a Sunday Brunch! Their brunch consisted of the waffles, omelette bar, potatoes, eggs, fruit, bagels, ceviche, and pastries. To my surprise, the brunch also included amazing Hawaiian food(ahi poke, kalua pork, fried rice) which were all tasty! Mimosas are $ 6 each or $ 25/bottle. Staff gave the birthday girl a free slice of mud pie and even a bowl of mango sherbet(they realized afterwards that she was lactose intolerant). Thank you Duke’s Malibu for making my best friend’s birthday memorable! Can’t wait to return!

Looking for a place to sit looking over the ocean? Look no where else other than Duke’s! But call ahead to make sure the barefoot bar is open and don’t sit anywhere else! Try to call ahead to make sure the patio is open. Few things to know: –This guy named Duke who was an Olympic surfer and loved Hawaii made the restaurant a ‘vacation escape’ theme. –They have the best fish dish I have had while I was visiting LA from Chicago. I always appreciate freshly prepared seafood. I chose to have the salmon herb crusted parmesan dish with perfectly soft and flaky jasmine rice and asian slaw. –Bloody Mary’s are perfectly spiced in a presentable and generous poured jar and you can choose your preference for vodka. –The service is slow but it didn’t bother us too much as our waitress was very friendly. –The valet is 6 bucks and you have to do it. –Perfect for families and small groups!

Super Bar und Restaurant direkt am Meer. Sehr empfehlenswert. Essen ist lecker und die Bedienung freundlich. Man kann tv schauen falls ein Spiel läuft. Auswahl der Menus aus beiden Speisekarten(Duke’s und Barfoot Bar).
