Overall not a bad experience. My server was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was the food is kind of bland for Indian cuisine. My tikka masala tasted like a plain tomato sauce, it had no heat whatsoever. I haven’t tried the buffet yet, hopefully it tastes a bit more authentic.

The food here is consistently excellent. The delivery? Seldom shows up within an hour of order. Waiting an hour 20 and counting, still not here. Such a shame, food is terrific, but no idea if/when it will arrive. Update: closing in on two hours. Absurd.

This place is great. We’ve only eaten in the dining room and picked up our take out(never did delivery). The food is consistently delicious. The chicken tikka masala is AWESOME! One note, we have found the portions to be a little larger when you do take out.

If I was just reviewing the food and takeout, then I would give Diwani 5 stars, but because of the service I’m giving it 3. The food here is some of the best Indian food I’ve had in the area. I would recommend the daal diwani and baigan bhurtha. Both are outstanding. Onto the service… Every time we have come for dinner, the food takes an hour to come out. If we are the first ones there it takes an hour or if we are in the middle it takes and hour. If the service was faster I would definitely give Diwani 5 stars.

I ordered the chicken with spinach(not sure of the name of dish) it was hot and tasty. Could have had more Chicken in dish though and there were big chunks of ginger that was not pleasant. Samosas were delicious. I really want to like this place. I hope they read the reviews and make some changes. Mahwah needs more good restaurants.

I had to throw out my meal. I have NEVER done that with any restaurant or delivery. I am so surprised with all the good reviews. I eat indian food a lot and this is the worst I have ever had. I asked for not hot, it was unbelievable hot. The spices had a rawness as though they weren’t cooked properly. A smaller issue was the wait time. I ordered the food and they said ready in 20 minutes. When i got to the restaurant, i awaited another 20 minutes and they weren’t busy. Maybe it was an off night for them, but it sure will keep me away forever. Sorry Diwani, I so wanted to like you.

Mediocre/average place. Nothing to brag about. Was expecting more quality and was excited it was in the near by area but it wasn’t that great. A tad expensive but decent-ish if you are truly craving Indian food and can’t go anywhere else to get it. Their chicken apps were mediocre at best. Went there once a few years ago and had a lousy experience I honestly probably wouldn’t go back.

I recently went here with my family and had bought a Groupon deal. We definitely enjoyed our first time at this place, as the staff were very warm and welcoming. I recommend ordering the Chicken Tikka Masala(my personal favorite Indian food), as well as the Poori and Naan/Roti(which our children loved), and the Chicken Saagwala(which my husband ate). The portions were just right, and everything was delicious! We’ll definitely come back again! Thanks!

I wouldn’t say it’s the best Indian food in NJ… I’d say it’s some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was great for dine-in. We’ve ordered pickup from here a few times, and it’s well-wrapped, hot and plentiful. Definitely check out Diwani!

The vindaloo is sweet, creamy and didn’t have a single potato. The first time I thought I got the wrong order, the second time I realized that they have no idea what vindaloo is. My wife said the food is better when you dine in but with take out this bad I won’t be giving them the chance.

Not much Parking, and easy to miss… so far it’s has been the best Indian food I’ve had within a 40 mile radius. I got the chicken tika masala and butter chicken with garlic naan… both were delicious and the naan was super fresh and fluffy. Seemed a little short staffed, but then again the restaurant isn’t huge either.

ABSOLUTELYHORRIFIC! We tried this place twice now. Both times I had lamb, and both times the cut was poor. The meat was extremely chewy with multiple fat pockets. Additionally, the dish was not spicy at all, which I stressed several times. The naan was also very thick instead of light and airy. The service was poor — multiple tables had incorrect checks. While significantly further, Dhoom is far better — quality, service, atmosphere, and price. Stay FARAWAY!

Excellent food. Wide variety of choices that can cater many different tastes. Recommended for all lovers of spice and/or intense flavor. Only downside is the price. Although the quality of the food is above average, it is fairly pricey.

Just had dinner at Diwani last night for the first time and it was very good! We ordered the Gobi Manchurian — the cauliflower was crispy and delicious. A friend ordered the chicken kabob appetizer as an entrée, the portion was huge and it was cooked perfectly. I ordered the Dal Makhani — the lentils were creamy and delicious. My husband ordered a lamb dish that he also loved. I didn’t find the dishes overly spicy which was good for me, although they are certainly happy to up the spice level if you request it. It’s great to have good indian cuisine in the area — something that has certainly been lacking. We will be back for sure!

Just had back to back dinners to compare this with Pryia in Suffern, the only other Indian place in the area. One great thing about Diwani is that they deliver! Their menu is far more varied and superior to Pryia and their Padpri Chaat was AMAZING and possibly the best Chaat I have had EVER. Do yourself a favor and order it as an appetizer. The nan was great, the soup fantastic and just about every appetizer, side and vegetarian dish was superb. Their dishes tended to be spicier than Pryia but nothing too much for most people. If you have people who are sensitive to heat, you may ask them to tone it down a little. The main courses were on par with the new chef at Pryia(who thankfully have a good new chef). Deep flavor, tasty… well done. The rice dishes here were not as good as Pryia My only complaints and the things preventing this from being 5 stars are the prices and the portions. They are a little on the pricy side 10−15% more than Pryia and the portions were on the small side. One entrée($ 17) was only enough to feed one family member. PROS: Best appetizers and soups I have ever had at an Indian place. They Deliver They are open Monday’s Solid Food Papdi Chaat CONS: A little more expensive Small Portions

Started with the garlic shrimp and Gobi Manchurian which is cauliflower florets tossed in a manchurian sauce; Both were awesome. Followed by the Kashmiri Kabab, chicken in wonderful spices and the Methi Salmon which could have had more methi in my opinion. Since they were unable to prepare the salmon in a timely fashion they gave me an extra order of Curry Salmon which was the best thing there. Nice atmosphere, gets busy for a small place. Parking can be tricky though.

We ate at Diwani for the first time this evening and were very happy with both the service and the food. We got chicken vindaloo and lamb korma, along with vegetable fritters for an appetizer and an order of naan. We asked for medium spiciness, but it was a bit more spicy than what we’ve had elsewhere. The appetizer portion was generous, entrée portions average relative to other Indian restaurants. And they put a carafe of water on the table, which we liked very much. We’ll be back!

This place is new, but a welcome addition to the area. They’re going through some growing pains, but I think they’ll be great. Service has been friendly, but a little uneven the twice I’ve been there(forgot drinks, didn’t have everything on menu). The interior is incredibly boring and basic, but I don’t care about that very much. Food is very good. I’ve liked everything I’ve had, and they will spice heavily if you ask them. The one thing I didn’t care for was the tandoori: it is served very impressively sizzling to the table, but it was a dry when I had it, and I heard someone else complaining about this to the waiter, too.
