Fratelli II

We went to Fratelli II Mahopac NY for lunch and had a wonderful meal; calamari; chicken de mare; broccoli rabe ravioli; chicken valdastone; desert; house wines good; all good! The service was excellent and friendly; like you were visiting a friend. The atmosphere was pleasant. We have nothing negative to report. A good place to go for an excellent meal. A place to go back to and recommend.

The ambience in this place makes me feel depressed. It actually effected me so much that I could hardly enjoy my food. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. The interior and exterior of this restaurant need a total revamp.

Ambiance is great. Wine is a little expensive. Sauteed long peppers, shrimp parm, and mozz sticks were phenomenal. A little cold but great taste. Chicken parm wasn’t trimmed so it was fatty at times and flavor was average. Penne vodka was above average but not my favorite. Will definitely return to try more.

Excellent authentic Italian home style cooking like Nonna used to make. The escarole and bean soup and manicotti were delizioso. Our waitress was so pleasant and friendly. Definitely will come back and sit by the fireplace.

The food was ok, The salad only come with house dressing, was horrible. Not very comfortable atmosphere. The wait staff was ok, not overly friendly or enthusiastic. The price was average for what you get. I would not return.

It has been a while since my schedule has let me stop in but when I was able to frequent Lou’s establishment he ran a first class operation. The staff was/​is attentive. The level of the food was always good and consistant
More over the food was cooked to order and that really is very nice. When your in the area stop in with confidence that you will be well fed and treated with respect

Good real italian food, staff is professional and is a great place to go for a party or something like after graduation. food is always really fresh clean place and the owner is very nice. Its also a plus that its seperated into a bar, and the restaurant part as they have a nice distance from each other. bathrooms are also very clean. great place

Gorgonzola stuffed zucchini flower, muscles marinara that’s nice and spicy, a pork tenderloin special that was out of this worl, great affordable wines, and service that makes you feel like family… thanks Louie!

I’ve been here several times and the food has never NOT been amazing. A+

Food is tasty but portions are small for the price you pay. Veal Alaska with king crab legs had the tinest crab legs I’ve ever seen. They had to have been snow crabs but the menu says king crab legs. The lasagna portion is also small and there is very little meat in. Nevertheless, service is good and the ambiance is very nice. Fratelli’s is definitely a date place.

This is NOT your typical heavy «red sauce» Italian restaurant. Sure, they have all of the traditional favorites, and they do them extremely well! But their menu and specials go WAY beyond just the traditional standbys. The specials are great, everything always tastes fresh, the portions are generous, and the quality is really first rate.
The staff is also really attentive and oustanding. Everyone is friendly, they are happy to honor special requests, and they kitchen always keeps up no matter how busy they are. We have been there when it’s half-​full, and when it’s packed. We even came in on a night when they had several large tables/​parties and the only table left was in the bar area, and we still got extremely attentive service. We did not wait too long for our food, and when it came out, it was hot and fresh. And I mean really hot and fresh. Not warm food on a hot plate that you can tell had been sitting for a little while.
The ambiance, menu, and service make this a great spot for a romantic evening, but we have been there with our 2 and a half year old son, and there are frequently families in there and they don’t take away from the atmosphere. Overall, it’s just a really homey place with everything you want — great food, great service, great drinks — and outrageous desserts.

Fratelli’s is a good restaurant for having a large party — we had a private room, although there are plenty of other large tables that can be booked in advance. The interior of the restaurant is very nice — it has a very rustic feel and large bar area.
Our waiter was a very patient and cordial guy, considering how large our group was and willing to give us recommendations on his favorite items on the menu.
The food is more like family-​style Italian — more of a place where you’d get chicken francese and not a Neapolitan pizza. I really liked the olive oil for dipping bread because it has a hint of garlic. The fried calamari is not overwhelmingly greasy and lightly breaded, which was nice. The pasta was cooked al dente (good job!). Most of the dessert options are very heavy — fried cheesecake, cannoli, chocolate mousse cake. The chocolate ravioli is an interesting dessert and will probably raise your cholesterol 500 points — chocolate filled ravioli are deep fried, dusted with cinnamon, and served with vanilla ice cream.
In summary, this is a good restaurant in the area to take a large group or party.
