Cool place, beers, great little house menu, I meet some nice and friendly people there and the staff were great, good setting with the creek and motel rooms. Relaxed atmosphere.

I rarely write a bad review but would feel bad if I don’t stop at least one person from eating here. Gave it a shot because it was raining and it was within walking distance. Smells like an old smokey bar. Beer was fine but wings were terrible, catfish terrible, and worst ribs I’ve ever had. Bad food badly prepared. Our group didn’t expect much. It’s a bar but we agrees the worst meal we’ve ever had. There is a for sale sign out front and it needs to be sold soon.

My visit to this bar that happens to serve BBQ happened due to the fact that the highly recommended pancake place nearby was closed on my way out of town. My sister and I decide on this place since it was nearby and I happen to enjoy BBQ. Like the first reviewer, we found ourselves as the only patrons at around 12:30 — 1:00. We were greeted by a waitress who seemed surprised to see anyone. After we announced we were there to eat she directed us past the quaint seating area to the smoky smelling bar(and by smoke I mean cigarette; not the other enjoyable smokey smell you might enjoy at a BBQ joint). Unlike the previous reviewer, I ordered the large pulled pork sandwich with fries and was presented with 2 sauces: a smokey onion tomato based sauce that I personally enjoyed and a vinegar based sauce that wasn’t bad either. The fries, as reviewed previously were in fact good. The pork had a smokey flavor so I guess they’ve learned a trick or two since the first review. It wasn’t very warm or tender but it was pretty decent. I would imagine this place is far better at night when the booze is flowing and more people are there to break up the awkward silent moments between the guest, waitress, and owner who, by the way, complained about owning a restaurant to its only patrons at the time. In closing, try it at night or keep moving.

As a recent transplant from Texas, this was my first stop on my NCBBQ journey. The first omen I ignored was at 12:30 I was the only customer but I hoped that maybe since the sign advertised Brew, Cue and BBQ, maybe their crowd was a late night bunch. The friendly waitress told me the place had opened a couple of weeks ago and was owned by the lady who had the hotel next door with her son as the cook. It used to be an arcade owned by the same folks. The dry-erase menu board offered typical bar appetizers, pulled pork sandwich, ribs, and cobbler. I asked if I could have a sampler plate to try a bit of everything and was told that was not an option so, I chose the small pulled pork($ 5.25) and was informed that I could chose between coleslaw or hand-cut fries for my side. I had four house-made sauce options: mustard, vinegar, sweet or spicy. Omen two: A sign claims all the meat is smoked on the property with applewood. I liked the idea that they smoke their own meat, but applewood by itself is weak. The basket sat in front of me contained a stale bun with some grey meat on top and no detectable smoke aroma or taste, nor could I detect any type of rub. Bland would be an overstatement. Omen three: The mustard sauce was brown. I’ve tried many varieties of mustard sauce(most popular in South Carolina). Most add a little Worcestershire, rarely you will see some add a little tomato paste, but mustard is yellow. This was spicy and sweet with a very distant memory of mustard. The fries were good. I did get a chance to meet the owner who mentioned that she used to manage one of the largest night clubs in Florida. I guess the priorities are the hotel, the bar, the three pool tables and then the BBQ. If I decide to shoot a game of pool,(something I haven’t done since the 80’s), I ‘ll go back.
