Savvy Tea in Madison, CT is a fantastic place for any tea enthusiast on multiple levels. It is my go-to place for good quality teas(whites, greens, oolongs, blacks). I love their selection and the staff always has great recommendations based on what I’ve purchased or tried in the past. Phil holds hands-on(or should I say lips-on?) tea tasting classes on Saturdays to educate the interested on the ancient history, health aspect, and subtle nuances of tea. I have attended a handful and can say they are quite informative and all around fun. I think this place is what made me move beyond the idea of tea as just a bag mindlessly thrown into some boiling water with a bit of sugar. There is an emphasis on where the tea is grown as well as how it is processed and how you brew it to make a great cup of tea. It’s an experience! Also, the smoothies hit the spot on a warm day.

Enjoyed a caffeine free calorie free chocolate tea. Loved the peaceful tearoom to hang out and chat while tasting my tea. Great location in walking distance from a great bookstore.

You’ll spend two hours trying more than dozen amazing teas and hearing of their history, how they are made, proper preparation and much more. They also have afternoon tea and special events full of amazing foods paired with exceptional teas. Tea accessories and brewing equipment are offered in grand variety as well. We went for my mothers birthday for high tea, we have gone to several high teas before and this place had the best the best tea any of us have ever tasted, along with a ton of yummy food(tea sandwiches, five different kinds of desserts, two different mini quiches and a large scone). The owner also came out several times to share information on the different teas as well as share his own pot of tea he brewed for himself. If you don’t want the entire high tea experience you can still just walk in and enjoy a cup of tea or they do tea tastings. I highly recommend visiting, we will all be back!

Stop here from time to time and everything is excellent. Great tea and very friendly atmosphere. So much better than any chain places. Great for a quick tea to go or to take home and make yourself.

I can’t begin to tell you how impressed I was with Savvy Tea! First off, what a section! It seemed like they had a hundred different teas. I mean, how do you choose just one?! So this brings me to my next point– service. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and helpful!!! He really was my tea spirit guide. I knew I wanted something to support my Christmas time happiness, and he was able to point me in the right direction, offering a few teas for me to smell actually.(Yes smell!) I ended up getting a holiday roobis tea, which was a wonderful pairing of flavors. Warmth, vanilla, ginger. Amazing and exactly what I wanted! The guy also let me know that they blend some of their teas in house. Neat-o! Last but not least, price. Less than $ 2.20 for a medium tea is way cheaper than Starbucks.(Hot or iced available at the same price) Love this place and cannot wait to come back.

I am always so impressed when I visit Savvy Tea. The staff is so unbelievably knowledgeable and passionate about tea. The selection is outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. My absolute favorite tea there is the jasmine green tea — just so smooth and lovely. You won’t regret visiting Savvy Tea and once you’ve gone once, you’ll be back for more

Even if you don’t like tea, you should visit. Even if you HATE tea – if your entire family was killed in some sort of horrific tea accident, and you swore you’d never even utter that syllable again – you should visit Savvy Tea. The secret to enjoying this tea shop is to ask questions. Phil, the owner, probably knows more about tea than anyone on the east coast(and he’s the nicest guy in the world.) You will learn so much in the shortest of visits. Be a human. Talk to the people in the shop. Buy a few bags of tea and take the time to make it right(it takes just as much time to make good tea as it takes to make gross tea). Even if you witnessed everyone you ever loved breathe their last breath well before their true time to leave this Earthly plane, and they all died exclusively because of tea, you should visit Savvy Tea in Madison, CT. They will make you a truly excellent cup of excellent tea and they’ll teach you how to make it yourself.

Young man at the counter was very knowledgeable on his Teas. I was looking for a Decaf /Organic tea. He let me try one, explained how they are best served, and set me up w/an individual serving Tea maker. I purchased a Vanilla Tea to be on the safe side and it was great, and he was correct, these Teas don’t really need Honey, unless you like it on the sweet side, and doesn’t need Cream what so ever.
