Halloween Express

Stopped-​in looking for some greasepaint for the Dia De Los Unilocalos event. After not being able to find pure white make-​up anywhere else, I turned to Halloween Express.
— No parking. The store wasn’t terribly full at 3:00pm on a Tuesday afternoon, yet parking was impossible to come by. This is a function of the strip mall itself, I realize, but it’s still a pain.
— Sketchy feel. Obviously thrown-​together in what was likely a few hours of work during a weekend; wire racks everywhere, plastic buffet table for a check-​out. Definitely didn’t want to use my credit card to pay.
— No credit/​debit card use for purchases under $ 10. Take note.
+ Big selection of costumes, props, make-​up, and the like.
— All of it is relatively low quality stuff*
+ All of it is priced fairly reasonably
So, there you have it. If you’re in quick need of a Halloween-​related item, they’ll probably have it here. Just bring cash and be prepared to be spooked by several things (parking, feel, payment process).
*Quick update: the grease paint that I bought (tube form) was actually *really* good stuff. It out-​performed stuff that I bought from other costume stores (stuff that cost 4−5x more than the Halloween Express stuff did).

Although this pop up shop is located on the frontage road of East Washington, it’s pretty easy to find and has ample parking spaces. Turn in towards the IHOP on Columbus Lane and take a right, you’ll see the Halloween Express van. The hours are super convenient and they are currently looking for new hires! The employees are super friendly, talk to you like old friends and give you their ideas on costumes plus help you come up with cool ideas. I even got a free product to try because it came defective from the manufacturer. I’m giving 5 stars for excellent customer service, clean store with easy to find items in a categorized manner and, or cpurse, free stuff.
