I’ve been getting work done by Jon for the past 3 – 4 years and can honestly say he has always exceeded my expectations of the piece. Aside from being creative and skillful in various styles of tattooing Jon has always made me feel comfortable and welcomed while I’m in the chair. The environment at Great Whale helps with that as well. The place is clean and fairly spacious. All the other artists are super down to earth and are always stoked to check out what you’re getting. I definitely can say I will always make the trip to Madison from Minneapolis to spend a few hours at the shop. Party on dudes and dudettes!

Will was so genuine! Will was grilled by my friend and I who had a ton of questions about the daith piercing. He never rushed us and took his time explaining and answering all our questions. The store is very welcoming and warm. When I was getting pierced he put lavender oils on his hands first and then gloves. I asked why? He explained that it antibacterial and calming for me. I loved the smell while being worked on. That is the«extras» that will make me come back!!!

I went to get my bridge pierced and Will was a total sweetheart, he made sure I was comfortable and relaxed. He also made sure the piercing would fit and was in the perfect placement. He made me so comfortable that I was able to talk about other piercings I have been wanting to get for quite awhile now but haven’t found a piercer I’m comfortable with on that level. He makes amazing custom plugs that are very beautiful. The shop was very warm and inviting. I’m definitely going back.

This is a wonderful and inviting place to get a tattoo(or piercing I’m sure!). I had the first of a two session tattoo done a couple weeks ago, and Tim has been so kind and patient. It is my first tattoo, so I had questions and needed a few reschedules! It all has worked out even more perfect than I imagined, I have a beautiful tattoo and the experience has been memorable in the best way. I can’t imagine going anywhere else for a tattoo, and I might just get some piercings here as well!

I was tattooed by Tim a couple months ago and have an appointment for another one with him in March — he’s great! Super friendly, super talented, the shop has a great atmosphere, just all around a super positive experience!

I love this place! Friendly & accommodating staff, super clean environment, great music and an incredibly talented tattoo artist. I totally recommend visiting this place and getting tattooed by Tim. Will is also an amazing body piercer.
