When my True Love and I don’t want the typical greasy, fat-filled pizza, we get the Veggie Delight from Papa Murphy’s. We ask for the pink sauce, a combination of red and garlic sauces. It’s great to be able to take the pizza home and cook it when we are ready to eat, instead of having it sit getting cold while we get ready. These franchises are made to be simple and just crank out pizzas. No frills. We’ve never had a problem with this or any other location. It’s not a place to strike up a conversation with the staff. Just go in, get your pizza and leave. That’s the way I like it. If we’re feeling a bit frugal, we like to get the $ 5 sausage pizza. We’ll pick up some mushrooms, tomatoes and onions and add them to the pizza. A gourmet pizza for $ 6 or $ 7 by the time we’re done. When you’re tired of $ 20 pizzas that come in a grease-soaked pizza box, try one of Papa Murphy’s take-and-bake pizzas.

There are two great things about Papa Murphy’s: price and the ability to use one’s EBT card to pay. I also think you get a pretty damn good pizza for the money, and best of all you get to control how it’s cooked. My friends ordered a stuff pizza and a chicken pizza with white sauce. The pizzas come with detailed baking instructions, complete with pictures. It took a lot more time to cook the stuffed pizza, but it was worth it. It is a LOT of food in one slice, but it was really yummy. I preferred the chicken pizza — it had white sauce, chunks of chicken and wonderful tomatoes. The tomatoes were sweet and savory and were a perfect compliment to the sauce. I love the notion of Papa Murphy’s if we are having a party or get-together. It’s inexpensive and usually really good. We will continue to get our pizzas here!

Depending on what you get, Papa Murphy’s is either 5 stars or one. Since our experience was divided, although not equally, I just split the difference. Everyone agreed the Cowboy pizza was excellent but the rest of our food was lacking. The Delight Pepperoni was much greasier than the Cowboy and really wasn’t worth the calories. A frozen pizza would have been superior to this Delite version. We also purchased two salads, always a great value, and the lettuce in both was well past it’s expiration date. Lettuce this brown and/or translucent shouldn’t be sold. If it was just one salad I would say it could have easily been an over site however, two different types of salad make me think they’re attempting to keep food cost down at the customer’s expense. I’ll return for the Cowboy but not for the salads. As for the DeLite pizza’s I may try another type before I exile it with the salads.
