Don’t let the location or décor fool you. This is hands down the best Mexican I have ever had. Great prices, great service!

If I weren’t a taco snob, this would have been a 4. Alas, I am. Changed my mind & gave them a 4 – they deserve it, even though for me it’s really a 3. No prices inside, but I think burritos, quesadillas, & sopas are $ 2& tacos & tortas $ 1.75. The carnitas were well cooked, but bland. The tripe, which I asked to avoid, was goopy. The kids loved it. Carne asada good, but bland. Lengua overboiled, again, bland. Ears? PERFECT. Crispy. Delicious. Chorizo, again good, but bland. The tomatillo sauce was really salty, the the chipotle one, again, bland. Would I return? ABSOLUTELY! For $ 15.05, we got 8 tacos. The place is clean enough, it is authentic, it’s just not of the caliber I’ve only found at 3 – 4 places on the east coast I’ve absolutely loved and overstuffed myself with even after overly full. Family friendly. Cash only.

This is great Mexican food. My family and I moved to North Carolina from San Antonio eight years ago and this is the first time while living in NC that we’ve had Mexican food similar to a place we loved and ate at frequently back in SA. My husband and kids had the street tacos(kids had beef and hubs had pork) and I had the torta(pork). All the meat was cooked fabulously, corn tortillas warm and soft, as well as bread from my torta. Ingredients were fresh and flavorful. All members of family thought food deserved 5⁄5. Ambience 1.5÷5. The lady at the register was bilingual AND very kind. Loud Mexican music videos. For this crew, ambience means little when overshadowed by choice Mexican cuisine. Thankful for a new favorite restaurant halfway between beach and home. We will be back.

Not the best location but the food is as legit as it comes. Basic Mexican food, but it’s authentic and delicious

Good tacos especially«el pastor» and«carne asada». I really did like the tacos and the amazing horchata BUT the area and service were horrible. I was staying at a hotel nearby and decided to give it a try. Despite the horrible décor the food is decent and cheap. However, the staff is disengaged and rude. The tortas(sandwiches) were okay, I could probably make better ones myself. I wouldn’t come back here unless I was incredibly near. Solid 3⁄5!

I’m all about the food, so I’ll give this place 5 stars. The décor is less than stellar, but the tacos are great. These are«street tacos,» aka real tacos. On a soft corn tortilla dressed up simply with cilantro, chopped onion and a lime. Know your order number in Spanish or wait up front to be called.

So. Very. Disappointed. They must have had a new(terrible) cook working today when we stopped. I was excited for the steak sandwich from the picture. My sandwich was NOTHING like it. The bread was the same, but there was barely any meat on it. Maybe a quarter of it, tops. There was no cheese, only a glob of mayo on one small spoon sized portion, with the rest of it left dry. THEMEATWASTHEWORSTPART. It was dry and away overcooked and crunchy to the point of almost burnt. Disgusting food. No service. Shit place. I tried to give zero stars but can’t.

We stopped by today on our way to SC. I was really impressed. Short review here… this place is legit. A real mexican restaurant. Only complaint would be the long wait, but it was around 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered 4 carnitas tacos and a few orders that were placed after mine came out first. However, I did get the feeling that I may have been waiting for fresh tortillas to be made. The tacos were great and the aquas frescas and salsa bar were awesome. It is in a bit of a sketchy area, but it won’t deter me from stopping by again and again. The tortas and shrimp cocktails looked amazing. If you want good Hispanic food, eat where the hispanics eat. Mexican cuisine is by far one of my favorites. Try it out. Support local business!

The real deal. Cheap(10 bucks for 5 tacos). Tasty tasty. Don’t miss the bar of salsas, picked cabbage, and grilled veggies that comes with your tacos. Unlike other reviewers, we found that several staff spoke perfect English.

One of the most authentic Mexican food ever. They have all kinda of «aguas» like Horchata(rice water) **A must try if you haven’t ever tried it** melon, watermelon, coconut, vanilla & limeade. I love their tacos, tortas(Mexican version of a sub sandwhich) and menudo(tripe stew).

Good food. Service is absolute chaos. Very disorganized and the people who do speak English aren’t paying attention at all. I think only weekends do they have the food they have pictures of.

Ordered lengua, and I’m pretty sure we were served beef. I was told there was no chicken. Horchata was gritty. Wasn’t overly impressed. Despite what other Unilocalers posted, it seems the staff does at least speak English. Bathrooms were not the cleanest. I would skip this dive when driving this stretch of road in the future.

We just happened by the area while traveling and and saw this place on Unilocal. It sounded interesting so we gave it a try. WOW!!! My wife and I both had the steak Torta. It was the best meal of our vacation. The steak was marinated with garlic and other spices and served on a large warm bun much like pita — warm, puffy and slightly moist. There were sauces with hot peppers and onions to add even more flavor. We were the only caucasions there. Obviously a place that local Latinos frequent. They barely spoke English. Very authentic. The sandwiches were well under $ 10 each. An unforgettable experience!

Very authentic and delicious Mexican food just off I95. The setting is somewhat rough, but it’s fun to watch soccer games with Spanish-speaking announcers. Vegetarians, ask for beans, rice, and tortillas, then add grilled onions, peppers, and sauces from the salad bar. This was the first time I’d tried milky, cinnamon-flavored drink horchata. I’m looking forward to having it often and to coming back to this taqueria.

Best Authenic Mexican Restaurant I’ve ever had. I’ve never had a real mexican taco on a corn tortilla until I ate here with a local friend. Everything is fresh and even the drinks are authenic so don’t expect a coke or pepsi! There is also a mini bar to add toppings. There is no waiter service so it is self service to diners. Parking can be horrible and they have days in which they are closed. The atmosphere is not at all updated and it is old and worn but the food though definitely gets my stamp of approval!
