Unique experience in a fun atmosphere. Food choices are good enough to give you a reason to go, but the ice cream will keep you coming back. I actually ended up with a flavor other than what I intended, but I decided to give it a shot. It was fantastic. The ice cream is thicker and smoother than the chain shops and may even surpass the local custard for creaminess. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The manager was very personable. The bottled sodas, décor, and the rebuilt classic jukebox take you back to another time, exactly as you would hope a place like this could do. Edit: Went back again since this place made me crave ice cream, which is unusual. Tried the cookie dough ice cream, and it was excellent. I also had a sample of the pumpkin just out of curiosity, and although it wasn’t for me, it tasted just like the plethora of pumpkin products available this season. How can I rate this place better than 5 stars?

I thought the ice cream was missing the over priced wow factor. I had 3 scoops in a waffle bowl. My daughter had a scoop in a plastic bowl.$ 17. And the girl that waited on me messed my order three times. It was only three scoops. Next time I will save the gas and not drive that far.

Behind the banal strip mall exterior, this little gem is a classically styled 1950’s diner. All their ice creams(and sorbets) are homemade. We sampled a few and settled on the fresh peach — DEVINE! I didn’t eat lunch there, although the sandwiches and soups looked delicious at the table next to me — filled with 12 older ladies, but will probably try the BLT next time my daughter’s hankering for a waffle cone.

Walk in to smiling diners and great 50’s nostalgia and music. We had Ice cream floats that were delicious. We danced and sang to oldies. Around the store are interesting pictures and things to buy(unusual bottles of fun sodas). This was our memorable stop in Lubbock. We recommend this nostalgic hop. Thanks for reading The Bike Chaplain

Wonderful 1950s-looking diner/ice cream shop! We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy but we were served immediately.

I stumbled upon this place last night because I had a Groupon for KaleidoScoops and wanted to use it. Since we confused the two and ended up at Holly Hop, we thought we’d give it a try. Unlike everyone else, I did not like it at all. I enjoyed the retro interior– it was unique and definitely you don’t see in Lubbock every day. But our ice cream was watery and not creamy, suggesting that it was either made improperly or they don’t use milk for their ice cream. Also, we got a double scoop in a waffle cone, and it cost $ 5.73?! What on earth! I can eat at Cold Stone, a well-known ice cream chain, for less than that with bigger portions. I was very disappointed in the quality and cost of my ice cream. I will not be returning.

Lovely place, very friendly staff. They greet you and are smiling. Ice cream here is good, you walk in and the homemade waffle aroma Tantalizes your nose and it makes you wonder where you are at. So saunter up to the counter and get a scoop or two.

Really good and nostalgic. Ice cream was great, portions were a little small but just right for the kids.

This place was super retro and super good. We stopped in late on a saturday night, actually we accidentally walked in about 10 minutes to close, the two people working were super nice and helpful, even though we were so close to close. This place is straight out of the 1950’s, classic décor, classic soda’s and all great real ice cream. I had a chocolate malt, which was handmade and excellent my wife had a small bowl of ice cream which we took to go, it was closing time. I would come back here anytime. So much better than the two letter chain. Only complaint, add a tip line to your credit card! Not only did I come in right at close then I felt like even more of an ass that since I had no cash I couldn’t give the kids a few bucks, which reminds me I need to go back and hook those two up.

Kitschy décor but great ice cream, lots of flavors, and my favorites: rum raisin, black cherry vanilla and Irish cream.

Took my kiddos there… I got the hot brownie fudge sundae & it was pretty good. They make the majority of their own ice cream & have the only working traditional soda fountain in town(which I thought was pretty cool). The jukebox was playing, but someone jammed too many quarters in there, so you couldn’t pick anymore songs. They forgot to bring out our Dr Pepper & Coca-Cola, but other than that, pretty neat! I’ll be back & will tell friends about it. :-)

This place is a great ice cream shop that harkens back to the 50’s. They have very good homemade ice creams with lots of selections, old fashioned fountain drinks, and bottled original drinks from Dublin. I had the Nutty Buddy sundae which is a tribute to Buddy Holly — starting with Nutter Butter cookie crumbs on the bottom, a scoop of their special Nutty Buddy peanut ice cream, covered in hot fudge and peanut butter sauce, whipped cream, chopped peanuts, and a whole Nutter Butter. Looks like they have sandwiches too.
