Tibet’s Restaurant provides excellent quality food, a friendly and personable wait-staff, and excellent ambiance for your Boulder area Himalayan fare. A buffet is offered most nights and the options are very good. They do not change it up at all and like any buffet, timing on when you choose a dish can be key. The experience is never sub-par. The menu items are delicious, especially the stew. The chai is a bit weak. The rice pudding is the bomb. There are usually good Groupons out there on Tibet’s Restaurant, but even if you do not have a coupon it is very much worth the price of admission. I highly recommend Tibet’s Restaurant and will continue to return there often.

I would have given 1 star, but the service was friendly and attentive and like everyone says on here… good atmosphere. I do feel bad giving lower than a 3 because I know it hurts a business. But what about customers? People deserve to know what they are going to get when they order from someplace and hand over their hard earned cash. Tibetan Roll: burnt black(no exaggeration) and soggy with oil. Menu states«lightly fried.» Thukpa stew: Bland. Tasted like basic chicken noodle soup. Steamed Momo Platter: Luke warm oil dribbled out of the beef momos. The chicken ones were flavorless. All of them appeared as though they were frozen. Hopefully this was a fluke. Or I ordered the«wrong» thing from the menu. I won’t come back, though. There are too many great Nepalese restaurants in Boulder County.

I eat a lot of Indian food, and being a New Jersey native who spent a year in England, I’m used to Very Good Indian food. My first time anywhere, I make it simple — vegetable pakora, popadoms, chicken tikka masala, and a garlic naan. Nothing fancy(or particularly authentic) but something I’ve had at numerous places(including some homes!) and enjoyed. Tibet was a near complete disappointment. I’ve had microwaveable meals from Tandoori Chef that were better! The popadoms were good, though I suspect from a box, as they were pretty much the same as Hurry Chutney and a few other fast food Indian places. No mango or onion chutney offered with them was a disappointment. The sampler of samosas, pakora, and Tibetan spring roll was serviceable but bland. The sauces served with them were also lacking – the tamarind sauce was watery and almost flavorless, as was the mint sauce! The garlic naan was too soft and chewy – best guess is that it was not cooked stuck to the side of a tandoor. Also not cooked in a tandoor: the chicken in my chicken tikka masala, which was missing that vibrant, grilled red exterior and had no tell-tale skewer hole to show where it had been thrown into a tandoor to cook. The sauce was weirdly tangy, and not in a good way. My fiancé ordered some Tibetan noodles, which were bland and unappetizing, and he too complained about the bland and overly oily appetizer sampler. We were surprised by the low quality considering the reviews online, which were overwhelmingly positive. My hope is that it was just a freak bad night for the chef, not that all Indian food in Colorado will be so bad as to make this place look good by comparison.

Really wanted to like this place — peaceful atmosphere, lots of nice books and art(with the Dalai Lama beaming down on you) but the food was pretty bad. We did not finish our meal — everything was too greasy and tasted the same. Hope they improve their cooking since we would like to return.

Stopped by for the lunch buffet while in the area. Best resturant Indian food I’ve ever had! Prices are incredible and the buffet has so many great options. You cannot go wrong with this place!

This place has really good quality food. The ambient also has a positive feeling. However, the food was really not spicy or hot at all. Its so mild that I almost forgot I was in an indian resturant. They really need to spice it up!

We have been here a number of times for dinner and always enjoy it. For our last visit, we tried the dinner buffet and I was really impressed. There was a variety of food that appeared to be rotated a lot, so I was never worried about food safety. We also brought our little baby, which is always a stressful experience for us, but the servers chatted with her and made us feel comfortable. The atmosphere is a little quiet for a kiddo, but it all worked out well. We highly recommend this place and are going again tonight!

We came as a family. The food was great, the services was great. We didn’t know what to order so we asked for a suggestions. We ordered 4 items including chicken masala, pan friend dumpling(I can’t remember the name), vegetable dish and an appetizer. All are good. The dipping sauce(tamarind and the vinaigrette?) are finger licking good. We had mango lassi for drinks. It’s not like regular yogurt… it’s different but yummy. Plan to come back for special occasions.

One of our favorites! This is such a great place, and we eat here often. I am a celiac, and they always do gluten free for me very well. I have a friend who is vegan, and Tibet’s can accommodate her, as well. My go-to dish is the Chicken Makani made with coconut milk(which is like tikka masala but with dark meat). We usually get take, but have tried the buffet, too, and it’s a favorite, as well.

Stopped by for the lunch buffet on a recent trip through the area. Food was really good and tasty. The buffet had many vegetarian options and the restaurant is very accommodating to the vegetarian diet. They made fresh samosas for our table, which were excellent. I loved everything I tried, and the chai is wonderful and bottomless. They come around and top up your cup like it’s coffee at Denny’s. Would definitely go again if I end up in the area in the future.

Some places start out good, then go downhill. This one has maintained the high quality, excellent service, and cleanliness(a clean restroom is a good indicator!). I especially appreciate the abundance of vegetarian options — I cannot even pick a favorite. The buffet includes a tofu dish, which I have not seen at other Nepalese or Indian restaurants. Brown rice is an option. The carnivores in our group were also plenty happy . We were there right when they opened for the weekend evening buffet and the food could have been heated more thoroughly. That being said, it is still my favorite place, and I never pass up an opportunity to go there. PS…they were very generous about refilling the hot and very tasty chai! 8⁄15: Just went for dinner. Fantastic! Hot, fresh. The music is gentle, creating a perfect atmosphere to calm down after a stressful day.

I don’t know much about Nepalese food. but I know what I like. I went in for the lunch buffet and tried a little of everything since I didn’t know what any of it was. :) They have a nice dining area and a great staff. The dessert pudding was excellent. I would highly recommend it for an out of the ordinary place to go. Excellent.

Very good reasonably-priced lunch buffet with a mix of Tibetan and Indian foods. Décor is nice and staff is polite. They have a nice bar area with great beers on tap(O’Dells and other microbrews), so this is probably a good dinner joint and bar as well. Highly recommended!

Ok, so I’m settling in with 3 stars. After a bad experience a year or two ago, I ventured back. It was good. Not exceptionally good, but good. Some of the dishes had nice heat if that’s what you’re looking for. Overall it was typical Nepalese food, which tends to be tamer than Indian food.

I went a bit too late, after 8pm. The buffet was tasty, choices were many, and tastes were all good. Service was kind. I would certainly return.

I’m glad to see the good reviews — we ate here today and were the only customers at lunch time. The buffet was good and I think the saag is the best I’ve had. We’ll go back when we’re in the neighborhood.

We went on a Friday and tried out the weekend buffet. It was easily some of the best Indian food I’ve had, and in not a big buffet person. There was literally new food being rotated into the earners every 5 – 7 minutes.

I gave it two stars only because the vibe and décor are great. I had the dinner buffet and it was bad: soggy/chewy Naan from sitting in the chaffing dish too long, the briyani was wet somehow, tofu curry was bland, noodles had no salt and lacked depth and the Dahl was watery. The only good dish was the chana curry. Another bummer was the lack of mindfulness around whether or not I liked the food… the place was empty but there was very little engagement.

here for the lunch buffet often. i was smothered by the good food. their vegetables stew is the bomb! Tibetan food is like the hybrid between Chinese and Indian. green beans tastes like Sichuan style while the Saag and mushrooms matters are pretty authentic like Indian. they also have a full bar and happy hour.
