Friendly staff. The burgers were fresh and juicy, not too greasy. I got bacon which was crisp not flimsy, and egg and even guacamole using the«build your own» feature. fresh toppings and fresh fries. We got the smash fries with rosemary and they were great. They were shoe string size. we will be back.

After a UofL women’s game my two sisters and friends met at Smashburgers! What a treat, I ate the avocado club burger and it was delish! I had a fried egg put on top and with being certified angus meat so yummy. Most restaurants downtown are not opened on Sunday, so we were happy to find them open. We celebrated my birthday and had a great time in the restaurant. We did discovered that they do not take the 4th street live gift cards!

I had heard they had awesome burgers and decided to give it a try; I was not disappointed! They have two size options(regular and large) which was great because if you aren’t too hungry, you can get the regular size and if you are starving, you can order the large! I had the Avocado club and I must say the mayo sauce in it was delicious. My fiancé had the Spicy Baja burger which had some of the best jalapeños I’ve had in a while. Don’t forget to order the ‘smash fries’ with rosemary, olive oil, and garlic! They definitely satisfied my craving for fries. Last but not least, skip the fountain drink and order a milkshake! My favorites were the Oreo and the Reese’s shakes.

Edit: went here twice and still received the same rude and mediocre service. This establishment either needs a new workforce or more employees. I’ll be taking my money elsewhere for now. I’ve been waiting about 45 minutes for a small order, the service and hospitality has been subpar so far during my stay here. The interior is dirty looking, fries and toothpicks all over the floor. This establishment couldn’t forewarn the upcoming GYC event so they ran out of black bean burgers due to the influx of vegetarian tourists. Hope you guys keep your eyes peeled next time, you lost a lot of potential revenue

We wanted something unique so we decided to hit this place up tonight. The buildup and the trip were more exciting than the food. My burger was basically non existent. I’m still not sure there was cheese on it. My buddy ordered the spicy fries and got regular fries. We asked if he could get the ones he ordered and he was first told those were the spicy ones. They weren’t. Then we asked again and he was told that they didn’t have any but he would double check. Two minutes later he got the spicy fries he ordered. I feel like this was an expensive steak and shake.

Smashburger is a nice diversion from the usual downtown lunch spots. You can either create your own burger or choose from a list of 9 or 10 burgers on the menu. The burgers are good and the menu has nice combo of toppings that you can’t find at most lunch spots. What’s even more unique is the veggie frites. They are flash fried green beans and carrots. I think i prefer them to the fries. The only drawbacks is that the price is a little bit higher than most downtown lunch spots and service can be a bit slow at times.

Okay I’ve been to this restaurant location twice and another smash burger location at a different time. The first time I came here was during«Thunder Over Louisville» and of course we decided to eat downtown so I expected long lines and boy was I right. The line was out the door, the people seemed frazzled, and all i asked for was a truffle burger with no mushrooms. Waited about 30 minutes for our dinner Which was expected but THEMUSHROOMSWEREONTHEBURGER! I didn’t eat it at all and just munched on the fries with a lot of anger. Then after visiting another location with great service and quality we decided to try this location again since it’s close. The first thing that happened was we got to the counter and no one was there… Crickets for a good 2 minutes and then a worker comes storming out telling us there are no regular fries left and only sweet potato fries(the main part that shines is the smash fries…) so I wasn’t too mad because I got the onions but I really was missing the smash fries. If you advertise being a burger and fry restaurant you better keep your fries stocked! The burger had very little truffle mayo which was irritating because that’s the main component of the burger since I did not order mushrooms(they actually left them off this time). Anyways the food is always delicious that’s the only reason this place has 3 stars is the good food

Smashburger has one big problem, management. Pretty decent food possibilities, but the inabilty to deliver at the point of sale is their down fall. Fries cold and taste like they have been sitting under a heat lamp, and burger about the same. Jimmy Johns a block away would have been the better choice.

My wife and I walking down 4th Street looking for a «unique» place to eat dinner. We ran across this Smashburger and am glad we did. We had burgers, smash fries and onion straws(or something like that). They gave us a number and we sat down after ordering. I thought this would be a 15 minute or longer wait, but within about 5 minutes of sitting down, they brought our food. HOT and FRESH!!! The food had a very good flavor. We would definitely eat here in the future, but there are so many choices along 4th street to choose from, it may be awhile. If you are in the area of a Smashburger, and are looking for a delicious burger and fries(or onion straws), give this place a shot. I think you’ll agree that they have very good food.

I had never been to a Smashburger before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I went for lunch on a Thursday and the line was all the back to the door. After I ordered I had to wait for a table to be cleared in order to sit. It took longer than I expected to get my food, but they were busy. I ordered the grilled chicken truffle mushroom and Swiss sandwich with fried pickles with ranch as a side. The first thing I tried were the pickles. They were very salty and somewhat greasy. The ranch dressing that came with them seemed to be straight from a bottle, and not a good brand. I definitely would not order anything with that ranch dressing again. The sandwich was delicious. I would definitely order it again. In fact, I might order 2 of them and skip the side. The sandwich was so good that I decided to get dessert. I ordered a Reese’s peanut butter shake and had to wait 15 minutes(I checked the time on the receipt) for it to be ready. There were not many people in line by the time I ordered this. The wait was entirely too long. However, it did taste like the blend of chocolate and peanut butter I expected. I had no problem drinking this through the straw provided, which was a little bit disappointing. I hoped it would be a bit thicker but it did taste really good. Overall, I would go back. I might try a different sandwich next time but I was very happy with the one I ordered. I would definitely not pay for anything that comes with the ranch dressing. Although I liked the shake it was kind of expensive and not as thick as I hoped so I would probably skip it. They did not appear to be under staffed but there were still a couple of times where the wait was longer than I expected so I might try to make sure I go when it isn’t as busy next time. Check out my photo to see what my food looked like.

Based solely on the burgers — loved them! Again, I have read many reviews from people complaining about wait time, service etc. I had no wait time issue at an off time and but the person taking my order did stop mid-stream to make a comment to someone behind her for which she did apologize. I really do not know if it was pertinent to the days business but was slightly off putting. But as I said, she did apologize. But let’s get back to the food, I loved my burger! I built my own with a huge selection of toppings and bun choices. The bun was warm, the burger juicy and perfectly cooked. I was only Ok with the fries BUT I am not a skinny fry lover, this is my issue not theirs. Ok, now something that may sound a little odd BUT their fountain diet coke was EXCELLENT. Again a little odd but the perfect mix of carbonation and syrup! I will definitely go back when wanting a semi-fast burger!

I used to live in Colorado and went to a smash burger in Louisville Colorado one of the birth places of the franchise in 2008 and loved it it was so fresh and delicious. But this one was a little sad. Pfft… Franchises.

Fact: Smashburgers are grilled delicious bundles of greasy joy. Fact: Unilocalers whine that the store is packed during lunch and the staff tends to… underperform. This may be a so-called«high-end» burger joint, but that doesn’t mean the staff makes $ 10/hour. Even the managers make what is arguably less than a living wage. I don’t mean to criticize Smashburger. The market demands convenient, meaty $ 6 – 8 lunches, and they provide it. But if you want great service, you’re going to have to either employ more people or incentivize better performance from the people you do pay. Personally, I’ve only seen courteous and competent service from this Smashburger. But the crowds at lunch mean there is always a lengthy wait. My only real problem with the place is that I don’t seem to have the willpower to stay away from the fried burger and potatoes. Which means I really enjoy eating it, and kinda regret it afterward. Bottom line: good food and courteous, if perhaps underpaid, staff.

This place is for sure hit or miss with the food quality. Sometimes it is good and sometimes it’s is subpar. The worst thing about his place though is the horrible customer service. The 3 times I have been there in the past three months I have stood at the counter for several minutes without seeing a single employee. I walked back into the kitchen — no one cooking, no one taking orders. I literally yelled«anyone here» into the kitchen and no answer. Eventually left and went to another restaurant. Obviously not a one time phenomenon either. Don’t waste your time.

I stopped here the other day when passing through Louisville. It was my first time at a Smashburger, and the main reason for the visit was due to time and money as it was just a quick hop on the way home. I had looked around on Unilocal and Louisville’s downtown seemed devoid of highly recommended places, at least at a reasonable price. This place didn’t have that great of reviews either, but there were a few positive ones recently including one from an Elite Unilocaler so I thought«why not?» and gave it a roll. Walking up to the counter I knew I was in trouble. There was barely anyone in there, yet the female clerk was having all sorts of difficulty dealing with the few customers in front of us at the register and had to go grab extra help. The guy that came sauntering up looked very unhappy and was muttering to himself before taking our order. I got a chocolate shake, the mushroom swiss truffle burger, and buffalo fries. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the staff was friendly when bringing it out and cleaning up. Sadly the food was mostly terrible, the burger meat tasted fine but the whole thing looked unappetizing with a big glob of goop(the mayo I guess) sitting on an open bun alongside some fries with barely a hint of anything on them. It said the buffalo fries had Franks Red Hot, but all I saw was a few sprinklings of chili powder. The shake was good, but nothing spectacular. I think the biggest irk was the mayo, which also came in a side cup that I didn’t realize when I dipped my fries in it and had a nasty taste in my mouth for the rest of the day. This was one of the last of many stops on a 1500+ mile road trip and easily the worst, I won’t be trying Smashburger again

This was my first visit to a Smashburger and I’m officially disappointed we don’t have one where I live. I had the Bluegrass burger(BBQ, bacon, cheddar, and burger). The burger was good and the toppings were also delicious. It was quite salty, but that was OK. I had the buffalo fries(dry-rubbed with Franks’ Hot Sauce): super tasty. The fries are very thin(thinner than the burger chains like McDonalds’, BK, Wendy’s etc). They were cooked to perfection. I finished it all up with a Nutter Butter shake that was just OK. I must admit that it had melted quite a bit by the time I ate it, so that may have affected my experience, but I probably should have gone for the Oreo or Salted Caramel. Service was prompt; no issues there.

During a trip to Louisville in April, I had an opportunity to check out Smashburger. Mmmmm boy! This place was delish! My friends and I were looking for a quick bite to eat, so we decided to check this place out. It was a bit crowded due to a large convention in the area, so I understood the wait. The menu consists of your choice of burger or chicken, salads, fries, and hand-spun shakes. I was HUNGRY, but wasn’t in the mood for a burger so I chose the bbq, bacon, and cheddar chicken burger. You can choose between grilled or breaded chicken. Wasn’t concerned with calories so I ordered the breaded chicken. For my side, I selected the smash fries, which are thin cut fries tossed in olive oil, rosemary, and garlic. It cost me less than $ 15. Pretty reasonable. As I previously mentioned, the place was slammed, so it was a bit messy. The customer service was ok. Nothing exceptional. I think the staff was worn out from all the convention goers. It took awhile for me to receive my order. I just figured it was due to the fact that chicken takes longer to cook. I immediately dug in. My goodness. Delish! Everything was hot because it was made to order. The smash fries were tastier than I expected. Crispy and I enjoyed the oil and seasoning. It was not overwhelming at all although I wouldn’t have minded a tad less oil. My chicken burger was pretty good. There was not one single complaint around the table regarding our food. My friends thoroughly enjoyed their burgers. If I am ever in «The Ville» again, I would definitely visit this spot again. It’s a nice alternative to the typical burger joints.

This isn’t your typical fast food restaurant, though their signs say you can«smash and dash,» and of course, the food was much better too! :D For fast foods, I’d place this higher up on my list. We got the Spicy Jalapeño Baja and the Bluegrass burgers, both with fries. Fries were thin, delicious, steaming hot, and crunchy! The burgers were soft and hot with blasts of flavor. I liked the Bluegrass with bacon on it, but it was big(to me at least), and I had to box up my leftovers. I tried eating the burger upside down, and it worked! I barely made a mess. I would definitely come back for a downtown lunch and then try one of their milkshakes too!

It ain’t no Five Guys, but it sure is tasty :) Great burgers, great fries, fun diner feel. This location is near 4th Street Live in downtown Louisville, so it’s very crowded during lunch, but glad I went. Try it out for a quick and tasty meal!
