On this visit to Sally Beauty Supply, I needed advice! I got a new ‘do yesterday, and my barber said I could use styling glue on it. I’ve used styling glue before, and I like it, but it makes hair very stiff. I thought about some kind of pomade, but most of them are based on petrolatum or lanolin and make your hair sticky. I wanted something that would leave my hair touchable, on the off chance someone wants to stroke my hair. I asked a Sally employee what to do, and she told me about a couple of products I could try. I ended up choosing a matte clay styling balm. I really appreciated the good customer service. The other employee, who checked me out, was also a very nice lady. She seemed a little awkward as she told me about upcoming sales, but I thought that was funny. I think the awkwardness came from the fact that I sometimes present as a redneck, huntin’ and fishin’ kind of guy, which is probably an anomaly at a beauty supply store. It seemed that she was being very careful to use gender-neutral pronouns as she asked me if there was anyone it home who might be interested in the(all pretty girly) products coming up on sale. Charming. One more thing: the previous review said that the store had no scanners at the registers. There are scanners now.

They don’t have a scanner at check out. What? And they don’t carry any Sally Hansen nail polish(my reason for stopping in). Maybe because of the«Sally’s» I thought they were somehow connected. So yeah… a little disappointing on the nail polish front. They do have a good selection of China Glaze and another brand I wasn’t super familiar with. The lady that was at the counter was very friendly, though.
