Where are you Louisville? This place is amazing. This is hands down the best place I’ve been to while visiting for work! They have a great selection of draft beer. I love IPAs so I had each of the four IPAs on tap. The hipster repellant was my favorite. There are plenty of TVs to watch sports. The food. Wow. I planned to sample a few small plates and appetizers but the portions were so generous I couldn’t finish everything. I had the crab hush puppies and the buffalo cauliflower. The hush puppies were cooked perfectly and burst with flavor. It killed me to save room for the cauliflower. I haven’t caught on to the cauliflower craze so I decided to give it a shot. The buffalo sauce was spicy but not overpowering and the blue cheese drizzle on top was the perfect contrast. Fill these seats, Louisville. Fourth street is all flash, but this place is quality.

We tried this place after the«Tour de Lou» bike ride a little over a month ago. We have been back 3 times since then. Good food, good beers, great staff. They had a great Sunday Brunch Menu that they just got rid of, but hopefully they will bring it back. Even if they don’t we will be going back on a regular basis.

I miss the happy hour and the awesome tastings Old 502 had. Daniel and I went to Over the 9 while on the downtown trolley hop Friday and ordered food and a wine flight. For a flight of 4 wines(4 ounce pours), and 1 burger and fries, it was $ 32. The wine flight was $ 14 and it was the same thing I have tasted in the past. I have tasted 6 wines there before for $ 6 and you got an awesome glass to keep. The burger and fries were pretty good, but nothing special. The menu had some interesting appetizers but they were out of the one we wanted. The atmosphere was lacking a bit too. I remember when they had live music during Trolley Hops. :( They did open an Old 502 tasting only bar next door. They charge $ 10 for a tasting and close early.

I got so excited that I didn’t take a picture of the perfectly cooked Bison Burger. It was amazing. The cauliflower salad was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. My vegetarian friend really liked her Tempeh burger as well. Great atmosphere on a Friday night gallery hop as well.

It’s not fine dining, but for a bar/restaurant, hip-type place, it’s great. The food is unique and fabulous, the wine is right on, the beer cold and the price tag very reasonable. The staff are knowledgable, friendly without being intrusive, efficient and very pleasant. The décor is divey while being sophisticated. The location is the only reason it’s not overrun with customers, since it’s on 10th between Market and Main. All the better for parking. We’d heard good things, but going downtown and then some always seemed a little much so it was by luck that we went the distance and found a new favorite. I’m always leery of places that sell only«their» wine and this place seemed doubly dubious by selling only their wine and their beer. No sauvignon blanc but I was offered an alternative called«White Noise» that was dry,(with only a hint of sweet left on the pallet) and near perfect. Who knew the Old 502 Winery had it in them! My companion was offered several tastes of the various Falls City beers on draft and was very satisfied with a Hipster Repellant IPA. The wine rang in at $ 8 for a very healthy pour and the beer was $ 6 a glass. I then went for the bison burger with spinach, white cheddar, pickled cucumber and green chili aioli on brioche. I’m always tempted to question the chef’s vision by asking for changes or additions but was smart this time and left the burger as designed. I mistakenly ordered my medium and was fortunate it came out a little more rare. The tastes are perfectly married and I loved every bite. My companion had the PBLT – country fried pork belly sandwich with pickled green tomato, chard, spicy bourbon mustard aioli on bread-of-the-day which turned out to be rye. Another home run. We split an order of hand cut fries and the amount was just right. The menu is interesting so I’m anxious to return. The chef must have a love affair with duck since there are duck wings, duck sliders and duck breast(stuffed with chorizon cornbread dressing!) on the small menu. There is also plenty of pork belly along with vegetarian options like the black-eye pea cake and the cornbread soufflé. Other sandwiches include smoked tempeh(sort of tofu but not exactly) and a house ground burger. If you are looking for a more substantial meal, look no further than the short ribs. Sides include, among others, mac and cheese and beautiful looking Brussles sprouts. There are soups and salads too, including a charred cauliflower salad that looked tasty. The price point is not insignificant but it’s well priced. A beef burger is $ 8 while the bison burger is $ 11. Entrees run from $ 13 to $ 18(pork belly and duck breast) and the sides $ 4-$ 6. Our waitress/bar tender said a summer menu is coming out in a few days and there will be lots of changes so we are planning our return trip. It’s a great find.

Get the mashed potato balls!!! They are yum-o! My husband got a flight of the Falls City beers to go with his ball. For our dinner I tried the duck sliders which were ok but the Mac-cheese side was creamy and awesome. My husband got the PBLT and savored every morsel. The place was really quite for Friday at 7. We were excepting a wait but where pleasantly surprised when we saw a sign that said please seat yourself. The overall Resturant looked clean and tidy.

We were visiting the Frazier Museum to see the Thomas Merton exhibit. We decided to check out Over The 9 since it was near by. We were intrigued by its location in the Portland neighborhood. The interior was spacious and cool. Our server was great. She was knowledgeable of the beers on tap and the new menu. The local beer choices were impressive. My friend chose the Falls City kolsch style and I ordered the Common. Both were very good. My friend ordered the bison burger. It was tasty and very large. I chose the PBLT, pork belly, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It was a nice blend of flavored. The crispy pork belly combined with green tomatoes with a spicy aioli served on a marbled rye bread was delightful. We both liked the hand cut French fries with Moroccan spices. The homemade green ketchup was smoky and tangy. Definitely like this place. Good food, good beer, great service, cool vibe.

Holy hell — pork rind nachos is a must order. It’s a heart attack on a platter so I only had two bites but good golly each bite was a taste explosion. On the outside it seemed like a wine bar but this is definitely more of a craft beer place, with their own beers. The brewery is on location.

The vegetarian options at this place were great. We got the Cornbread Soufflé, Chard & Sweet Potato Salad, Charred Cauliflower Salad, and the Black Eyed Pea Cake. All fantastic — the best was the cornbread soufflé. It was not too sweet, and had plenty of peas and sauce. Would do them all again except the pea cake. They brew their own beer too, and it was really good. I wouldn’t recommend the wine.

This was my first visit to Over The 9 and I say great job. First I had heard only good things about Fall City beer but I haven’t tried today’s reboot of this old brand. Well, call me surprised, on this day Fall City produced 13 of their own beers plus they also offer plenty of other beers on tap. Of the 13, I had a flight of four Fall City beers and ALL were winners. I went on to try the Fall City Maibock and this is an instant home run for fans of bock beers. In fact, I drove home and came back with my growler for a fillup of Maibock, to fill a growler is $ 10. For dinner I had the duck breast with cornbread dressing and my wife had chard & sweet potato salad. Each were very good. This place reminds me of a smaller scale version of the former Browning’s Brewery. You can see the brewery tanks, this place has high ceilings an old hard wood floors. The service could have been a little more attentive, but overall a great first impression.

Love the mac n cheese! It was great thick and creamy. I had the smoked temph sandwich it was fantastic and came with super hot seasoned frys. The smoked temph had great smoke flavors and texture. The service was great as well and ambiance trendy cute.

I came here mostly for the wine but we got some food as well. The space was nice and big and we were able to easily find a place to sit. The wines all have cheesy punny names, and most of the whites were way too sweet for me. I did enjoy the Bourbon Barrel Red, though, as it was bold and nice and strong. Although the food menu isn’t huge, it has some very interesting choices, such as mashed potato balls, bone marrow, and duck nachos. We had the mashed potato balls which are a cool concept, but just takes like mashed potatoes, which is a little bland in my opinion.

Over the 9 is definitely a great spot for lunch! I went in with a friend and had the Grimanti sandwich. It’s listed on the menu as Pastrami, Swiss, Arugula, Serrano Oil, Red Cabbage Slaw, and Freedom Fries on Ciabatta. I say«listed on the menu,» because the sandwich I was served did not have any Freedom Fries on it. I also question whether it was served with Serrano Oil, because I definitely didn’t taste the oil if it was. That’s not to say the sandwich I had was bad, it absolutely wasn’t, it was really quiet good! The missing fries didn’t keep me from eating the entire half sandwich I ordered, and in reality it was probably much healthier without them! You have the option to order an entire sandwich, or order half with a side, which is what I chose. I ordered the House Salad as my side, and it was very good. It was a nice portion size of fresh Spring Mix, Blueberries, and delicious Vinaigrette. I’m assuming it probably changes some through the seasons, but I imagine it would be tasty year-round. Since we went to Over the 9 for lunch on a week day I didn’t have a drink, but I love that they feature Old 502 Wine and Falls City beer. They also have other drink options, for example my friend chose a Tin Man Damascene Apricot.(Ok, you got me; I had one sip. I love that stuff!) And they have the option of cocktails as well. I really enjoyed the space too. It’s a large industrial-type space, but they’ve managed to make it warm and inviting with the wooden tables, beautiful flower pieces, and the cool mural, art, and lighting. Plus you can see into the winery during your meal, so you can watch Old 502 being bottled, which is awesome! I highly recommend you check out Over the 9! It’s great for lunch, dinner, or just for drinks.

I’ve been to this location many times before but each time it’s been a different venue. First as Riverbend Winery then Old 502 and now as Over The Nine. The space has been revamped and feels completely different. They have the bar seating still but the old retail section is now filled with seating and chairs. There is a rustic feel with wooden bar tops and bench seats and painted mason jars filled with flowers. I came for a wine tasting event and also ordered the charcuterie plate and duck nachos. You HAVE to order the duck nachos. We ended up requesting more chips because they give a large portion of cheese sauce. If it was appropriate to drink the cheese sauce I would have! The charcuterie board had a nice mix of beef paté, pickled watermelon and daicon radishes, prosciutto and candied nuts. You can only order this plate with wine tastings. For $ 10 you can taste all of the old 502 wines. If you’re from louisville, you’ve probably had most of them, but our wine tasting did not disappoint. Our waitress was fantastic and made the wine tasting fun and informative. There were quite a few tables doing wine tastings and she gave each one of them 100%. I will definitely be back for dinner because the food that was ordered around us looked scrumptious!

This place is in an awesome location. It’s right down the road from Kentucky Peerless distillery. They have all Fall City beers on tap which is awesome. I love the Hipster Repellent IPA and my husband loved the Barley Wine. He claimed it as «one of the best Barley Wines he’s ever had» so I guess it was pretty good :) The duck Nachos were great. They made their on chips which were legit however, a little salty. But, between the beer cheese and duck meat, we’ll order again.

Such a cool space! I can definitely see myself coming here again for happy hours after work. The beer selection is great, and the bartender was really patient and friendly. As for food, I only ordered one thing while I was here – the cashew butter and jelly sandwich that comes with foie gras. It took FOREVER for this to come out, but our server was really apologetic and explained that a huge group had put in their orders right before us. I honestly wasn’t a big fan of the sandwich, but my friend loved it. It’s probably something that you either love or hate. Overall, it’s a great place and worth checking out!

There are so many good things about this restaurant that its hard to decide where to begin. The eatery is beautiful, washed with white, light wood, and rustic décor and seating, making this a modern, but cozy place to nosh and sip. This restaurant is situated in Old 502 Winery’s former tasting room and gift shop and focuses on small plates, sandwiches and of course wine from Old 502 Winery and Falls City Beer. The menu is my absolute favorite in Louisville. It is limited but the options that they have are nothing less than magical.(Did she just say that… Yeah, she did.) They’ve created a menu full of small plates large enough to share and a plethora of burgers and sandwiches with amazing protein options to fill your belly to the brim! A few of their meats include bison, Angus, chorizo, lamb and tuna and each are served with perfectly paired sauces, jams, cheese and breads. And the best thing? They top at $ 12.00. A few of my favorite dishes that I’ve have had here so far is the bison meatball sandwich with spicy marinara, melted cheese and Italian bread and the lamb nachos with fried wontons. I’ve also had a few of their sides, I highly recommend the French fries to split for two bucks to go with the sandwiches, or the gooey breadcrumb covered mac and cheese. The Scotch duck eggs made with bison, charred scallion aoli and Lingonberry jelly will be my next plate for sure! I was excited to try there take on the Scotch egg, but my stomach could take no more. Do you want to know the secret behind this delicious, creative and affordable menu? Well, Chef Griffin Paulin who is the former chef of Hammerheads and Roux assisted heavily in creating the menu, with an emphasis on making the plates pair perfectly with the alcohol served from Old 502 Winery and Falls City Beer. So if you like these restaurants, I’ve got a feeling you’ll love the food here. I’ve got to say, Old 502 wine is DELICIOUS. While visiting I had the wine flight, four wines for $ 12.00 and each one was unique and fun to taste. No serious business with these, just enjoyable sippers. I tried Bach’s wine(slightly sweet, my second favorite), Kentucky Lady(quite sweet, smooth and fruity, my number one favorite), Bourbon Barrel Red(a teensy bit oaky, smooth, a bit dry, highly enjoyable) and the Reese-ling(my least favorite). I’ve also had their Bore Dough, the first dry wine I’ve ever actually loved. Their wines are absolutely perfect for beginners and while I get my wine wings I will never come here and not get the flight. There are just too many amazing wines to choose from. They don’t forget the beer lovers either. At any given time they have at least four Falls City beers on tap, some exclusive to just Louisville, and plenty of guests taps to choose from. They also offer a flight of four beers for a slightly lower costs than the wines. Overall: One of my favorite places in Louisville. Do I wish it was anywhere else but Portland? Yup, but I will always drive here for this place. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want an affordable, fun meal full of unique flavors with a knowledgeable(albeit VERY busy) staff. This place embodies the spirit of Louisville, it just gets me man.

Over The 9 served up one helluva sandwich for lunch, and at about $ 10 for the meal, I’m smitten. But let’s first start with the décor and feel of Over The 9. Over The 9 completes this trifecta of awesomeness on 10th Street. Between Fall City beer, Old 502 wine and now Over The 9, so much goodness is located in this building. (If the zombie apocalypse ever happens, by the way, I know where I’m heading. At least I’d go down happy.) And Over The 9 pulls all of this together. I love the saying on the wall that you see when you walk in: «In wine there is wisdom. In beer there is freedom. In water there is bacteria.» Truth! The restaurant has various seating options, from the bar to high tops to regular tables. It’s industrial yet comfortable. And now on to the food. I went to Over the 9 for lunch to meet some friends and was drawn to the Grimanti sandwich, which is made with pastrami, cole slaw, lettuce, tomato, mayo, Swiss cheese and French fries on Italian bread. I love a sandwich with a bit of crunch, and the shoestring-like fries give it that. This sandwich was also HUGE, about twice the size of a typical sandwich. I ate half for lunch and saved the rest for later. I also tried a bit of the mac and cheese. It has bread crumbs on top — just the way I like it. And considering Over The 9 has a Unilocal check-in offer good for 20 percent off of a lunch order, my lunch bill came to $ 10 including tip. The service was also exemplary. I’m eager to come back and try Over The 9’s dinner, drinks and even some of its After Midnight events, where dinner is served — you guessed it – after midnight. Over The 9 is building on the creativity of Old 502 and Falls City, and I can’t wait to see what the folks behind it do next.
