My grandmother gave me her engagement ring, wedding band, and grandfather’s wedding band for my upcoming wedding. I initially had the engagement ring «repaired» at another local shop – resulting in an unwearable ring, with a band so thin I could bend it with my fingers.
So, I took the ring to Merkley Kendrick Jeweler, where the staff showed me exactly what needed to be fixed and explained the different bits and pieces of my ring so I would know what to look for in the future. The ring is as good as the day it was purchased in 1956, and now I stare at it lovingly, thinking of my grandfather picking it out for my grandmother.
The store has a jeweler in house, they introduced him when I went to pick up the repaired ring. After my awful experience at another jeweler, it is comforting to know our rings won’t be sent offsite.
Don’t go anywhere else for jewelry repair, save yourself the grief!

I purchased my original engagement ring here almost 20 years ago. They educated us in diamonds and you will view your diamond through a high powered microscope. So the experience was very good, but you are paying a premium for your diamond. I am ready to upgrade. As I shop around, I found out that my diamond is not TRULY AGS certified. I received a certificate from Merkley on their letterhead using AGS rating scale BUT it is not the same as GIA or AGS certificate. Overall, I am so disappointed that I CAN’T get close to the value I paid for for this diamond.

Helpful staff, I learned a lot about diamonds and the whole engagement ring process. I had never heard of them before, but they came recommended by a friend of the family. Seemed willing to work with me to find what I wanted for the right price. After a few trips in, I had not found a stone or finalized the design of the custom setting. I was frustrated at this point, as getting away to ring shop was not easy. It was too much back and forth for me. I knew what I was looking for in a diamond and knew I could find it for the price. From what I was shown here, it seemed my ideal diamond for the right price was impossible to find. I decided to try competitors and ended up finding exactly what I wanted very easily. Pricing may be due to location in St Matthews, everything in St Matthews costs more in my experience. They do have a better selection or vintage engagement rings than anyone else in town. Definitely some unique pieces, staff was friendly and helpful. In the end a competitor got my business due to how easy they made the process for me.

A diamond on my engagement ring was loose. I brought it in here and was greeted with smiling faces a friendly service. I left no more than 10 minutes after I walked in, with the diamond secured, and my ring cleaned, at no charge to me. That’s how you get repeat customers. I’m happy to say Merkley Kendrick is my Louisville jeweler.
