The colorful interior is charming with it’s varied shelves stacked with teas and accessories. The menu of teas selections has something for everyone, probably even those who haven’t successfully found a tea they like. Very helpful descriptions and symbol usage on the menu. Our teas were properly prepared but you get paper cups if you order just a cup of tea. Maybe I will bring in my own teacup next time! I took some selections home: The American Chai is very heavy on a smooth cinnamon flavor which I personally think overwhelms the tea and other flavors. I also purchased one of their best seller herbal choices because it is very pleasant to have tea without caffeine on rainy evenings. Though it brewed well, I don’t think it tasted at all like an oatmeal cookie(the tea’s name). So, I think this is a good spot to select quality tea leaves. I do wish they offered some seating away from the bar/counter for those of us who would like to chat with a friend over tea. Though this location is off the beaten path, it is really not far from the Oxmoor Mall. Finally, if you are going near any holiday, call for specifics on times and their menu options. Their«flights» were not available when we went and they closed early.

Their Strawberry Shortcake Black Tea is amazing. Got it as a gift for a Secret Santa — definitely the best strawberry tea I’ve tried in my life.

I love loose leaf tea, so I’ve been really excited to visit the Louisville Tea Company ever since I saw a groupon for them a few months ago. When I finally got the free time to go, I was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, but also laid back, and let me browse without being pushy. They had an amazing selection of teas, and I could have spent my whole day there just smelling them. For non-tea drinkers, this place may seem a bit expensive, but their prices are on par with other big chain loose leaf tea stores, and I would certainly rather spend my money locally. They also offer a tea class that I am very interested in taking to learn more about the different kinds of teas. My only complaint is that they are located in a shopping center that was difficult for me to navigate to, as someone who is not familiar with the area. But that certainly shouldn’t deter anyone!

Nice selection of quality loose leaf teas. Not a sit down tea shop, but I grabbed a very nice Keemun to go. Just what I was looking for.

We’ve visited a few times, and it’s been a pleasant experience. A cozy atmosphere and an amazing selection of teas make a fine tea shop. Glad to have one in Louisville.

Great little tea shop. Too bad it is so far away from me. I bought several trial size sachets(?) and enjoyed them all. I really want to make it back over there but haven’t yet. The guy that helped me was very knowledgable and suggested that I take a class. I probably will once I am finished with grad school but I can’t take anymore classes right now ;) He also made me a fabulous chai while I was there! YUM!

I am by no means a tea aficionado, but when winter rolls in I love to have something decent and relatively fresh in the cupboard. We always have an odd assortment of bags and some stale, ancient black teas, but even I can tell the difference when I get a cup of something really good. A trip to Hillbilly Tea downtown always reminds me of that. To my knowledge, Louisville Tea Company is the only independent tea-specialized vendor in the city. But what I’ve seen of their selection and quality is very encouraging. Since moving to the area, I’d been on the lookout for a place to get good loose leaf teas, and I am happy to say I feel no need to look further. I’ve now sampled a few of their teas, including«plum sweet»(hibiscus and cinnamon) and a delicious«lime burst» that’s flavored in part with a lime essential oil. No disappointments yet. The shop itself is simple and charming, not necessarily what I’d expect to see in this strip mall. For better or worse, they don’t serve food here. So you come for the tea, and the tea alone. Fancy hat optional.
