Singapore noodles people! Ask for it extra spicy. Rice noodles with veggies tossed in curry. Also the best bahn mi in the city, even with no meat.

This place and Roots are incredible restaurants for when you’re craving flavorful yet healthy vegetarian dishes! They take pride in «mindful, compassionate cooking», which was delivered wholly and they really live up to expectations! First of all, the atmosphere and setup are so simple yet calming! I love that they don’t have an overwhelming selection of condiments/sauces on the tables, rather none, keeping it nice and clean. I’m telling you, you just feel refreshed when you enter the place and ready to ditch your meat! Their menu is not too extensive, most items are vegetarian that can be made to vegan or gluten free upon request. You go up, order and go back to your table, then they’ll bring out the food. I ordered the BBQ Tofu banh mi, and my bf got the Hue style noodle soup. Both were delicious, tasted so fresh and the flavors just hit the spot. I loved my banh mi because of how crispy the baguette was hm hm hm! For someone like me who thinks vegetables can easily be so bland, just like a salad with no dressing, they season their food so well, every flavor blended together rather than one being more dominant. I highly highly recommend this place! Fast food price, authentic restaurant quality. 4 stars though because their avocado smoothie that I ordered in the end was not great… too powdery!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because of all of the positive reviews. First off it took us 40 minutes to get our food. The veggie fried rice was extremely bland and cold when it arrived. Though I did like the spring rolls, it was an unpleasant experience altogether.

We were in Louisville KY for a convention looking for good vegan/vegetarian restaurants and decided to try Heart & Soy. We tried the Orange Tofu, Korean Cellophane Noodles and Curry Rice. We liked the service and the food was delicious but the portions were skimpy for the price… The portion sizes for each entrée made me wonder if they were appetizers… even for my 3 year old daughter kept saying she was still hungry afterwards. We left feeling unfulfilled and unsatisfied… our stomaches were saying, «C’mon, where’s the rest?», next time in Louisville we’ll go elsewhere unless we hear another review that says the portions have increased.

Food is awesome, service sucks. I’ve called an order in twice and they won’t even start making it until you come in and pay for it, completely defeats the purpose of calling in. Having to wait 20 minutes for a sandwich when they’re not busy is absolutely ridiculous. Used to be my favorite spot, now I’ll have to find a new one.

I love this place!!! Both roots and heart and soy are incredible. Their refrigerator full of yummy stuff is also super convenient, and they also sell their house made tofu for all to enjoy! I’m a carnivore and this place totally steals my heart. Their tofu is the best I have ever had. Must tries: Singapore noodles, phở soup, bbq tofu. Seriously can’t go wrong. Love the ladies that own it as well!

Heart & Soy is a phenomenal, local business for so many reasons. They are committed to social and health conscious products, but are also so darned kind! Every year they hold a pay-what-you can day after which they donate the proceeds to charity. Nice people, healthy & delicious food. What could be better?!? The menu of Vietnamese dishes is perfect for vegetarians and vegans, but also satisfies meat eaters too. Although I’ve had most of the items offered, I come back time and again for the Vietnamese sandwich(banh mi). This Vietnamese staple dish is traditionally made with pork and pâté accompanied by fresh and pickled vegetables on French bread. At Heart & Soy, savory, homemade tofu replaces the pork and a delicious spread made from what looks like it may be mushrooms completes the sandwich. Lettuce, carrot, cucumber, and jalapeño(if you like) add so much freshness and crunch. I opt for a white, French roll but you can get whole wheat if so inclined. I add their amazing veggie ham to super size my meal. The H & S gyro and the spring rolls are also household faves. You can chose from Coke products and bottled teas. Vegan desserts and tofu are available from the cold case. If you’re lucky, you might even get to see them make the tofu in the glass room off the dining space. Go, eat, and feel good about your meal.

Delicious food, horrible customer service. Go across the hall to Roots if you actually want to know what’s in the dishes you’re eating. I asked the cashier about a dish & she acted like I had just spat in her face. I would say she was probably just having a bad day, but this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this here. You can’t have a menu full of exotic dishes with no description & not expect people to have a question or two. I generally prefer more casual restaurants, but there really isn’t much of a price difference at all between H&S and Roots. The food is made in the same kitchen, so I really can’t justify coming here anymore.

‘Vegetarian’, ‘vegan.’ These are words that strike fear into the average American’s heart. Add ‘Korean’ on top and most would never give this place a try… I say — their loss. Heart & Soy is a beautiful fusion of vegan with Asian-flare. I’ve eaten here several times, never to be disappointed. The Korean rice bowl is phenomenal: spicy, flavorful, and very filling. The phở is good, but not quite my favorite in town(can’t top Annie’s, Namnam, or Vietnamese kitchen). What they do excel in is their bubble tea. I’ve had bubble across town and nowhere serves it like here. Take some time, give it a try — no matter how much the name scares you. You won’t regret it.

Maybe 4.5 stars but I will round up. In Louisville and looking for vegan and vegetarian options and found Heart and Soy on Unilocal.Glad we did. Parking was not easy. Walked in and not crowded. Guy behind the counter was helpful in his suggestions. I wanted to try more of the options, but one can only eat so much. Thai Iced Tea with soy milk. Hit the spot. Bahn Mi sandwich with 5 spice tofu. Yum. Bread was very good. They can use vegan mayo. Tasty. Fried Shitake mushrooms. THis was awesome. Yes, maybe a tad too much celery and not enough shroom… but still very good. I would like sticky rice… but I can live with the rice they use. Curry Fried Rice. Also very good. Noodles. Lo Meiin with tofu. Yum.

I wish I could give heart & soy five stars because I am and will always be a loyal customer. I think their food is phenomenal and I feel great after eating there. I also love the wide variety of dishes to choose from. When I come here, I’m never afraid to try something new because I know I will love it! However, four out of five times that I have been here, the person at the counter has been unpleasant. It really is a shame because the food is so delicious. Bad customer service could potentially drive new customers away! And I would hate for that to happen because of what a great place this is. They have the best bubble tea in town(I am totally a bubble tea aficionado– take my word for it!), and they make their own tofu! How can you get any better than that? I didn’t even like tofu before I tried this place, if I’m being completely honest. In my visits here, I have tried the steamed bun, the eggrolls, the spring rolls, the BBQ tofu, the Korean rice bowl with egg, and the rice noodles with eggroll. I’ve gotten the Korean rice bowl several times because it is just that good! I would highly recommend ALL of these dishes :) also, please try their desserts! The mango and banana puddings are fabulous. The Black Forest cupcake is also awesome, for those of you who love chocolate(who doesn’t though– am I right?), and the gingersnap cookie sandwich is a personal favorite of mine. I would also point out that the bubble tea deserves to be mentioned again. I have had bubble tea at multiple places(around the country, even) and I will keep coming back to this place. Although their bubble tea is more like a slush(and I don’t typically prefer that), I love it! It has great texture and great flavor. They also have a wide variety of flavors to choose from. Even if you are not a vegetarian or a vegan, I HIGHLY recommend this place!

The only bad thing about Heart & Soy is picking JUST one meal from the amazing menu, and I believe most of the bubble teas aren’t vegan. :( The food I did finally decide on was excellent. The atmosphere is cute and casual. Service is quick, and it was busy when I visited. This is a place I would eat at weekly if I was a Louisviller. Can’t wait to get back and to try the fancier restaurant connected.(Roots?)

Good stuff. They make their own tofu! A great place for anyone visiting or living in Louisville who is a vegan or vegetarian. I’ve had the steam bun, gyro wrap, bites of the noodle soup and phở. Excellent deal for the money and truly delicious food.

Great place for fresh, healthy food and my favorite bubble tea. The Korean rice bowl had lots of yummy tofu, fried egg and veggies. Big portion of rice so you will not leave hungry like some other vegetarian restaurants. I asked for a less spicy option which reduced the amount of sauce they put on it and was perfect for my taste. We also got the spring rolls which had super fresh ingredients and a side of delish peanut sauce. I would serve it with a ponzy type sauce to add a bit of dimension to the flavors in the roll. They have lots of gluten free dessert options but I always go for a new bubble tea. They have lots of flavors and I like to try them all.

Great little spot if you are looking for something on the healthier/vegitarian side of food. They also have assorted teas and bubble tea. I tried the vegetable fried rice and a taro bubble tea. Both were great. The lady behind the counter was friendly as can be, it only took a few minutes for a to go order placed when I got there. I’ll be back to try some of their house made tofu which I’m sure should be good based on all the prior reviews. Definitely a place to check out even if you aren’t a vegitarian.

Counter service vegetarian asian food? They make their own tofu? They have vegan desserts? Yes, yes, yes! I came here all last summer while I was in summer school to grab a meal before heading to class. It was quiet enough that I could study or pull out my laptop. It is just the right amount of quick service, the food is made fresh so you still have to wait a bit, but you can be in and out within 30 minutes. Im pretty sure I only have tried two things on the menu because I loved it so much. –Pad Thai. It is packed with veggies and tofu. Plus, it is a huge portion that fills me up. –Vegan ‘egg’ rolls. These babies are not greasy and the sweet and sour sauce is so good I slather it on them. I always try and hit up the dessert case. I’ve had their vegan carrot cake and their vegan mango pudding, both were big hits. The food is a bit pricey, but with the freshness and quality, I am willing to treat myself every now and then.

Heart & Soy is an order-at-the-counter vegetarian restaurant. The concept is hard to find and definitely appreciated. While I’m not a vegetarian, I do love vegetables and enjoy eating healthy when I can. Today, I ordered the Pad Thai and the Honey Peach Bubble Tea. I’m still not sure what bubble tea is, but it tasted like a honey peach milkshake with tapioca balls at the bottom. It was the bomb(and not healthy at all, I’m sure), and I highly recommend trying some bubble tea. The Pad Thai was a large portion and was packed with veggies, which I loved. However, the flavor seemed to be a bit lacking. I enjoy a high level of spice, so it was pretty bland for me. If you dine in, there is sriracha and soy sauce available, which I would have loaded up on. Unfortunately for me, I carried out, so I didn’t get to take advantage of this. I probably wouldn’t get the Pad Thai again, but there were lots of dishes on the menu that I will be back to try. And of course, I’ll be back for more bubble tea.

If you’re a vegetarian or a meatarian and you’re looking for a quick, delicious meal that’s relatively easy on your wallet, check this place out. My favorites include: Korean Rice Bowl — spicy and very filling Singapore Noodles. They’re rice noodles with a lot of curry. Also very spicy. Korean Cellophane Noodles — primarily a sesame flavor. My four year old loved it. For appetizers, try the spring rolls and egg rolls.

Drove up here from Tennessee to try this place and we were very impressed! We had the Vietnamese sandwich and the Korean Rice Bowl. Both were delicious! The sauce in the Korean rice bowl was a little too spicy for me, but my husband enjoyed it. The ginger cookie sandwich and mango tapioca were delicious as well! We plan to stop by next time we are in Louisville.
