The Habitat Restore has treasures to behold for DIYers, home renovators and second-hand item connoisseurs. It may take some sleuthing to uncover your prize, but you’ll likely find something to bring home with you. I’ve visited a couple of times recently in the hopes of finding items for our new home. And today we left with a pedestal sink for $ 25. The sink needs a good cleaning and hardware, but it will work perfectly — and for less than the $ 100 to $ 200 you’d pay for a new sink in a big box store. Now, we had to examine several sinks to find the one that we wanted. Shopping at ReStore may take work. But if you’re already not a stranger to working with your hands, you’ll fit in. The ReStore also has some furniture, plumbing fixtures, paint, tile, electrical items, doors and more. We also picked up some pieces for the overhead lights in the attic for $ 1 each. The ReStore also had some more quirky finds, like oil paintings for a couple of bucks each. And the smaller items, like fixtures, wires, nails and screws, are grouped together in small bags. It’s nice to come away with items you need and not a dent in the ol’ wallet.

I love ReStores and while this isn’t the fanciest one in Louisville it is centrally located and reliably stocked with furniture. Last week I dropped in to check their inventory and found a shabby chic dresser for $ 20 that Restoration Harware could’ve had in its catalog for more than ten times that. Mike helped me load it into the back of my station wagon and I was good to go. Also they have plenty of windows and doors in stock at this location. But don’t bother trying to park in the front as you’ll just have to walk around to the back entrance.
