Elite Experience: New Year! New Elites!

CHEERS to Unilocal for selecting such wonderful new Elites, offering the first bev, appetizers and cool Unilocal sway! Another CHEERS to Joy Luck for hosting us and providing excellent service. This was my first event as an official elite and I really enjoyed the experience — the name tags were a nice touch and am immediate conversation starter. I should have taken Emily up on writing on the wall with chalk, but blame it on some lingering childhood block that kept me from marking up the wall this time. ;) Next time, I’ll take another step further outside my box.

As a newb to the Unilocal scene, and being a fresh elitist (OK usage of this word?), it was great getting to know other Unilocalers and other elitists. I had seen reviews around the city from many people that I was finally able to meet in person. And everyone couldn’t have been nicer. Emily did a great job in selecting a neat venue that I had never visited before this particular event. We dined and imbibed — what more could you want?
I’ll certainly visit the Joy Luck again. Great food and great selection of drinks. And I’ll definitely attend more Unilocal events. Great time with great people.

Emily does it again. The events seem to just keep getting better and better. Not only did I meet some wonderful people, I had the chance to taste some of the best Asian food I’ve ever had. My Wife and I ended up buying dinner while we were there, so I will put up a separate review for Joy Luck.
I just wanted to thank Emily for putting together this wonderful event. My Wife and I had a wonderful time. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you giving us such a warm welcome to the Unilocal Louisville community. Keep up the great work.

I had so much fun at this Elite Experience! I live close to Joy Luck and have been several times before, so I knew the food and cocktails would be amazing, but the company is what made this a remarkable event. I met several new people and spent most of the evening talking with them, and learning about who they are, while we all enjoyed the delicious appetizers, cocktails, and entrees. One of my new friends was even nice enough to share some of his order! (Have I mentioned how much I LOVE this Unilocal crowd?)
As the other Unilocalers have mentioned, the cocktails are truly works of art at Joy Luck. When you make a decision (which is always hard to do, because everything on the menu sounds amazing) waiting a few minutes for the masterpiece you’ll receive is completely worth it. You can tell the guys behind the bar really care about what they’re making, and you’ll taste that love in your cocktail.
Emily, you are amazing! You put together the most perfect events and this one was flawless. Everyone seemed to have the best time, the food and drinks were wonderful, and using the bar area for this little party was fantastic!

A fun and relatively small event with lots of people I’d never met. There was much boisterous conversation and almost everyone seemed to be chatting and getting along well. The inclusion of the pictures and last review on the name tags was definitely a nice touch! A few funny ones like a doctor and a random Subway!
The cocktails were really good and quite the ordeal to make. Not your typical Mojito that is pre made and takes 30 seconds to serve and costs 12 dollars. These were made with real care and expertise.
A fun event and I’m glad I got the chance to meet so many new people!

New Year! New (and not so new) Elites! When this «experience» was announced, I really wanted in, because I’ve been itching to try Joy Luck since it opened. It certainly did not let me down.
The intimate space Joy Luck provided was conducive for introductions and chit chat. I’m trying to be healthier (and wanted to splurge on food instead), so I stuck with water for my drink, but the guys behind the bar were making gorgeous (and I’m sure) delicious cocktails for the those indulging. Delectable appetizers came out hot and ready to be devoured by excited Unilocalers; I tried the crab rangoon and was very pleased. After looking over the menu, pork belly caught my eye (as it always does). The food was brought out quickly and was EXTREMELY tasty. The portion size was perfect. I would certain get it again, though I would also love to try a few (or many) other things! Plus, the service was fantastic; I drink a lot while I eat, and my water was always quickly refilled. There is definitely a return visit (or 20) to Joy Luck in my future!
The company was great, as expected. I was able to meet many of the new elites (WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!) whose names and pictures I see here but haven’t met in person. It was nice to be able to sit down and talk to the group while we all ate our dinners. Even though we’re all different people from different walks of life, Unilocalers have a generally cool vibe and are fun people, so we had plenty to talk about. I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to and chat with everyone, but I look forward to seeing these wonderful people again soon!
Also, props to Emily H. (Community Manager) for such a great event. The nametags with our pictures and the last reviews, respectively, were really cool and great conversation starters!
