Still the go-to anytime I want Mexican food. Everything from the carne asada to the pregnant burrito is delicious. The wait staff has always been very nice. Cannot recommend this place enough.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in town. They have the best salsa! It’s fresh and you can see and taste it. Chips are always hot and everything I get is always delicious. I love their little patio outside in the summer to drink margaritas and eat tacos with carne asada. I take everyone here when they want good Mexican food.

Horrible! I ordered fajita nachos with steak + I added shrimp to go. The total came to 18 bucks which I thought was expensive but I was really hungry. The food was absolutely nasty and it was cold. I went to take it back and the woman working the front was extremely rude and kept snarling at me. The manager told me he could not refund my food because I ordered it with shrimp(??) and they used a lot of to go containers(??). Not sure what that had to do with me returning my food. Either way, they offered to remake it which I initially agreed but decided I didn’t want to eat their food and I left. Needless to say, due to the bad food and rude customer service I won’t be going back.

chips are not the best, Salsa fair not runny like some places, you can actually taste the tomato instead of being spiced to death, What is great at this restaurant is the main dishes. The chicken is always cooked and spiced to perfection, the rice is also done well along with the refried beans! If they changed the chips and tweaked the salsa it would be much better. The service is Excellent! Great attitude by all who work at this location! Have noticed some people working with computers at busy times here! Workers rely on tips and your not doing them any favors by wasting space after you are done eating when it is busy get movin!!!

A friend of a friend had said that this place was pretty good, so we gave it a shot. I’d have to say it was pretty good, and it was nice that the menu had more variety and specialty dishes that we haven’t seen at other restaurants. I started with a red, sweet sangria. It was actually a little stronger than at other places, but I still liked it! :) We ordered the Fajita Mocajete, Banderillas, and an Enchilada with a Chalupa. The fajita came out in a huge, sizzling bowl with beef, chicken, and shrimp with even a piece of cooked cactus in it! It was the fanciest fajita dish I’ve ever ordered, and it was definitely worth it’s price– might as well have been 2 meals for me. The Banderillas came on metal skewers with had soft meat and veggies. It had a kick of flavor and was filling for a guy who can eat a ton! My friend enjoyed the enchilada, but he was surprised by what a chalupa was– not that it was bad, just not what he was expecting. We would all definitely come back here though!

Seriously this place is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Louisville. I order carry out a couple of times a month and my order is always the same — chicken fajitas with a side of cheese dip. The chicken is great — clearly pieces of sliced white meat chicken and seasoned perfectly. There are no weird squiggly mystery meat pieces that you see from other Mexican restaurants. The vegetables are fresh and still al dente — not too hard but not cooked to mush. The salsa is fresh and chunky and the cheese dip is rich and lovely. I can’t speak to the table service but everyone I’ve encountered at El Torazo had been lovely. Definitely a place to check out!

Good salsa. Friendly service. My wife had the taco salad, good fresh lettuce, lots of goodies. Guacamole was freshly made and tasty. We had a good experience that if we are in the area again we know is a safe option. Funny story — some drunk guys walked in wondering about the karaōke night. Apparently one of the places in the complex does karaōke but the greeter didn’t understand what they were asking.(in retrospect, probably only funny if you were there, sorry)

Went here for lunch and was thoroughly impressed! *Very* friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings. I ordered the carnitas, which was slow-cooked pork. It was *amazing* — so tender and tasty! The house-made fresh guacamole was creamy, cool, and mild. The house-made hot sauce was very unusual and like nothing I’ve had before. It was an odd sort of pinkish-brown color, and very tasty. Plenty spicy but not unbearable. House-made tortilla chips were thin, crispy, and fresh. Is is «authentic» Mexican food? Don’t know. Don’t care. It’s excellent food, whatever you want to call it. Go!

¡Ven aquí para comida bien rica! Come here for awesome food! Came here for lunch with my bestie and my hubby and had a five star experience. The servers are all very cheery, polite, and attentive. Even answered some of my Spanish grammar questions. Yup, I’m dork. Anyway, the food was excellent and cheap. If you like spicy, ask for the salsa picante. I doused everything in it and it was on fi-yah! Loved it. Even before my salsa, the flavour was great; I’m just addicted to hot sauce. Try the yummy margarita and cheesecake chimichanga with icecream. Nope, I’m still not hungry for dinner. Don’t judge my gluttony! :op

This review might come off as snobby and critical, but I hold high standards for any place that I am spending money at if it is not classified as a dive, diner or drive-in, or does not have a drive-through ordering system, or if it is not in an airport or food court. It’s your typical three-sauces-fits-all, the beef in the tacos is the same beef in the enchiladas is the same beef in the burritos Americanized Mexican restaurant where people claim«my wife’s best friend’s cousin’s ex-roommate’s sister’s childhood babysitter’s gardener grew up in Mexico for 3 years and this place is authentic». Yeah… well…there is nothing Mexican about chimichangas, nachos or fajitas, bubbo. Is the food here edible? Yes. Is the service decent? Depends. Is the place stupendous overall? Far from it. Is the menu reasonable? Sure… why not. Here’s the thing… if you’re going to have a group outing after work for drinks, this is NOT(and I will repeat NOT) the place. If you want a cheap, somewhat decent and fast lunch, this is your place. So, there you have it. Probably my shortest and most to-the-point review… ever. :-)

I am not one to hand out five stars to restaurants or any business for that matter unless they have truly earned it. El Torazo has truly earned this rating. From the location, the interior, the management and wait staff, to the ambience, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the restroom, the drink menu and especially the food — this place is a gem! The chips and salsa are always fresh and oh so yummy! My favorite items are the Huevos Con Chorizo(scrambled eggs with Mexican spicy sausage) served with beans and rice and the Fajita Nachos(Chicken and Steak nachos) I add lettuce, tomato and queso to mine! Get a size of guacamole and queso and you won’t know what to do with yourself. Lastly if you are not on the clock please get a top shelf Margarita — My favorite is peach! I have been coming here for years because they have never compromised on quality! Ruffina usually waits on me and I have never had a problem here. Please let me know what you think!

This is like my 20th time here and the experiences have all been great! Great service, great food and atmosphere. Family friendly and they offer free chips and salsa. This trip I got the fajita steak nachos very good, very filling was the only thing I ate was under $ 10 worth every penny. One thing I really like is the service is fast not fast food fast but you never wonder where your food is. This place is a real gem in the hurstbourne area.

We initially loved this place for the salsa, but after going there five times(and every time feeling unwelcomed, we are saying adiós to the place). For the price, the portions are smaller than other Mexican restaurants in the area.

I rolled into Louisville on a Thursday evening to spend some time with friends that lived there. They instructed me to meet at El Torazo and gave me directions. I figured since I hadn’t eaten dinner yet, that was a perfect arrangement. They had already eaten and were enjoying some drinks, but I grabbed a menu and was really impressed. Anything you’d want to order, and prices were quite reasonable. That was just the start. I ordered a beer and an enchilada plate. In no time, my food arrive and OHMY! The portions were fantastic — I wasn’t sure I’d be able to finish it all. Then I tasted it. OHMY! There aren’t enough o’s in gooooood to describe the flavor. They didn’t over-do the cilantro like many places do — no, this was a great balance between the ingredients and seasoning. This place blew away my favorite Mexican food back home, which is saying a lot. The atmosphere is colorful and welcoming as you’d expect. The staff there were wonderful and ready to help me with whatever I needed. I look forward to the next time I’m Louisville — I know where I’ll have(at least) one of my meals!

I’ve been here twice on Sunday nights when they have happy hour and both times I got the Carnitas and it is damn good. They are basically tacos you make yourself using soft corn tortillas they bring on the side along with a little picco salsa cilantro stuff on the side. Not sure if there is lime in it as well, but it’s definitely closer to what one would think of as traditional Mexican tacos. The only reason it isn’t 5 stars is because the rice that comes with it was a bit funky. I don’t even really care about the rice and beans that much tho to be honest.

I just happened upon this place one night while traveling to Louisville. It’s located in a strip mall, but once inside has a very distinct Mexican atmosphere to it. The chips and salsa were very fresh, and I ordered the chicken enchiladas as an entrée. The chicken was obviously slow cooked for a long time because it was delicious and I ate all three enchiladas, when I had mentally told myself I would have only two. That should say something. The service was great, the food was great. I can’t understand the negative review, because every plate I saw was near perfect in presentation. Anyway, give this place a try… it’s definitely worth it!

Good Mexican restaurant, and would recommend it. My 1st visit and I would definitely go back. Louisville not easy to find good mexican, this is 1 of the better if not best Mexican restaurants I have dined at in Louisville. Service was good, food was good, and atmosphere was very good. Only catch was difficulty in finding it. It sits in the far back of a shopping complex in which Shoe Carnival is also located, I would use Shoe Carnival as your landmark to GPS to find it.
