I could not be happier to have found this bookstore. In a time when everyone reads books on their tablets, I find such great joy in having an actual book. I also don’t believe in spending a lot of money on books as it’s one of those items in the world that should be «passed-forward.» I went in here to check it out after having some lunch across the street and I am so happy I did. I wasn’t in need of any books, but better be sure I ended up walking out with four. I will be back and hopefully I can sell my books for a reasonable price for others to enjoy. It’s a comfortable bookstore with a nice staff and a great selection!

Having driven past this shop on several occasions, I finally planned a time when I could stop in and browse. We were there a half hour, which wasn’t nearly enough time, but we still managed to buy a bag full of books. We had a range of interests in our group, from gardening to religion to foreign languages to young adult books, and we all found something we wanted. We met the owner and she was really nice and helpful. This is definitely a shop that I will stop by often and located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Louisville.

In a world of online bookstores and e-books it was so refreshing to find A Reader’s Corner this weekend while meandering around Frankfort Avenue. Call me nostalgic but sometimes it is nice to spend an afternoon browsing through book titles and flipping through pages of possibilities. Most of the books in the shop were used and I got the feeling that the selection likely varies by what people bring in to sell. However, there were still a lot of great books. I was extremely impressed with the vast number of non-fiction books, which are often lacking in used book stores. My only disappointment was that it was really hard to find specific fiction writers as general fiction, literature, and specific sub-genres such as sci-fi, mystery, etc were all separated. My boyfriend was looking for a specific author and ended up having to look in three separate sections before being able to locate his books. In the end we bought four hardbound books for $ 15, using a 20% off coupon from LIBA and we had a great time shopping for them.

Don’t let the cutesy front window displays deceive you: it is not kid-focused or frivolous, just a straight-up, really solid, medium-sized used bookstore. They have unexpectedly deep religion and philosophy selections; these genres are often among the most limited in a typical used bookstore. They are also strong in fiction, literature, and food/cooking. One annoying note: fiction and literature are divided into separate sections, which is a burdensome when looking for specific titles that might fall into either category.

There might be a typo in this bookshop’s name. Because there are corners everywhere in this place! I had a great time browsing the collection at A Reader’s Corner. You’ll find that it’s divided up by category and then by author. Most non-fiction in the front, then you can head towards the back of the building for fiction, classics, etc. The prices are more than reasonable and you might even find a good few gems if you look closely. If you’ve ever wondered what a house full of books looks like, A Reader’s Corner is it.

My daughter is a real book worm and when we get even close to A Reader’s Corner she gets overcome with joy! She is a young adult reader and can find many things to read here. I really enjoy buying gifts here for my friends, and often purchase books from local authors. They have a lot to choose from in that department. I can often find some interesting used books here that are hard to find anywhere else.

This is quite the charming used bookstore! Having recently moved to the Clifton neighborhood, I was eager to explore the local shops. I walked in to A Reader’s Corner and was immediately greeted with a smile and a warm hello. I then indulged in the glorious contents of the shelves — many beloved classics, as well as surprise treasures and locally focused literary treats. I have since visited a handful of times, and have asked the staff for assistance on a couple of accounts. Whoever is on hand always cheerfully complies and looks up the forgotten title or author, or checks availability. Definitely blends engaged and thoughtful service with consideration for the visitor’s desire to browse in peace. One last thing — the BOOKS! Wonderful selection on site, and they will order for you at a small discount what they don’t have in store. What’s more, the prices are incredibly reasonable. In a world filled with generic brand corporations and dwindling used bookstores, this is a TREASURE and a perfect example of the bookstore any respectable neighborhood should have.

I love to take Mister over to see what kind of little treasures he can find. I usually find a couple for myself rummaging through the shelves, stacks, and aisles. There are great prices for used books and they offer a 20% discount on most new books placed on order. I have always had pleasant interactions with the staff/owners. Even though it is at the corner of breckenridge and willis, I have never had a problem getting a parking spot. When I left, it was never empty handed and always with a feeling that I got something useful at a good price. I always let Mister pick his book out so he will maintain his interest in reading. This is the next best thing to the library.
