«Achoo!» I exclaimed, stumbling through the front door. «Bless you!» replied the waitress. And she repeated this four more times. I typically sneeze in fives, I don’t know why, but I truly love sneezes. I call ‘em lil’ brain orgasms. I wasn’t allergic to the restaurant, promise. Damn this endless drought. An ode to Vietnamese eats: I absolutely love your pedigree. You feed the best in me, your rice noodles and fresh veggies, your sprinkles of seared meats, bean sprouts, drooling pools of sweet sauces, your fire. It is indeed your heat, dear Far East, that connects us as a People. We New Mexicans truly appreciate a kick in our taste buds and Vietnamese food fuels our unquenchable thirst. Welcome home. And thank you for coming. Phở Hoa doesn’t enlighten the foreign tongue anything special. Packed into a strip mall along 4th street, the place doesn’t have bells or whistles, it simply delivers the basics. Spring rolls are rather flat, virtually no herbs, they’re meat and shrimp with some fillers, served with a sticky peanut sauce. My vote, I dig the sweet spicy watery dipper, but that’s me. We had the pork vermicelli noodle dish(thanks Heather M) and chicken noodle soup. All good, we ate it all up. So dig this: spring rolls, two entrees, $ 20. No frills, awesome bill. Thank you for coming to the north valley, Phở Hoa. And thank you for blessing me. Five times.

Terrific Vietnamese in the North Valley – hurrah! I’m a big fan of their bun, and the Banh Mi sandwiches are fantastic – fresh baguette and veggies with just the right amount of heat. Try Phở Hoa and tell your friends! It’s not easily visible from the street, and it would be a shame to lose it when the food – and the friendly service – are so great.

Worst service I have witnessed at a restaurant before. When my table asked the server for limeade, she rudely stated«that it would be awhile» as well as saying the same thing after we ordered our food. Unfriendly place, food is mediocre. Definitely a place I will NOT be coming back to. Also there was very intense plastic smell in the restaurant only further making my experience less than ideal. Only eat here if you like being treated rudely by wait staff and waiting 30+ minutes for a bowl of noodles.

Good Vietnamese has arrived in the North Valley! We’ve eaten here several times. I almost always get phở tai, but sometimes I get lemongrass chicken with rice. The phở broth seems complex and not overly salty. Lots of kid-friendly options as well. Service couldn’t be friendlier and it’s generally pretty quick.

I love this place and Monica is awesome!!! She’s always on top of it and always gives polite and friendly service. She’s also the only one that will separate yer phở for you if you need to take leftovers so it won’t get soggy. #69 spicy tofu phở is the best! Has to be the best phở I’ve had in New Mexico so far. I frequent this place often! Highly recommend!

What a nice surprise! Have lived in the neighborhood where Phở Hoa is located and seen many restaurants come and go. Nice, clean atmosphere and very good food. We enjoyed fried rice, phở, and spicy lemongrass chicken stir fry. We will be back!

Although the ambience is nondescript and unassuming(it’s nestled in a strip mall), the food is the best Vietnamese I’ve had east of San Francisco. I had the tofu plus vegetables udon soup and it was killer good. No msg, and you can add spice to taste. Plus the server Benny was a hoot and real funny. Definitely coming back here!

In my continuing quest to find great Vietnamese food north of Lomas, I stumbled upon this newcomer to the scene. Located on 4th Street, that magical road that seems to make all restaurants better, I figured this would be my place. However, like the sushi joint that occupied this storefront before it, Phở Hoa failed to impress me. Phở Hoa is your standard Vietnamese restaurant, serving all the usual options with average results. With 40 or so phở eateries in ABQ, this one falls right in the middle. For committed connoisseurs of the cuisine, like myself, Phở Hoa fails to offer the more interesting ingredients that mark a place as truly authentic. Things like shrimp sausage for the bahn, clotted blood for the bun bo hue, or grilled pork skin for the vermicelli dishes are absent from the menu. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it was a bit disappointing. For less fervent fans of phở, Hoa offers an un-intimidating, pared down menu filled with grilled meats and fresh veggies atop rice, vermicelli noodles, or vermicelli patties. These options aren’t bad, but with such an understated palate of flavors, the food can be a little bland. The grilled meats lack the delicious char, the veggies are a bit washed out, and the phở broth is sort of ho-hum with an underwhelming garden plate. The spring rolls didn’t have those fresh, bright flavors. The food’s not bad, but it does need some help from the ol’ bottle of Sriracha. I have certainly had worse Vietnamese. The high point of the meal for me was the bahn. These bad boys were substantial, nicely toasted, and had a fair amount of filling. Great appetizer for the price point, though there are better bahn out there. As other people have mentioned, the way the restaurant is run stands out. The place if spotless and the service is spot on, even if the food is spotty. Average food isn’t the end of the world, especially if the dining room and kitchen are run well, but it is hard to get excited over Phở Hoa.

Vietnamese is my new favorite! Phở Hao is a great little restaurant in the middle of a strip mall. The décor is very nice and the service is great. I have only had Vietnamese a few times, but I definitely have acquired a taste for the vermicelli bowls. Phở Hao’s are tasty and plentiful! This is a great place!

I wanted to like this place because it is near where I live, but I’m afraid it was one of my worst phở experiences ever. First off, the dining room had a harsh chemical smell of plastic offgassing or cleaners that took me about 5 minutes to get somewhat used to. I was willing to deal with it, because I have had good phở in places that smelled like wet dog, however… I knew I was in trouble when the vegetable tray came out in advance of the soup with almost nothing on it: one lime slice, two thin slices of jalepeno, one partially slimy small sprig of cilantro, and one similar-sized bruised sprig of basil. Only the sprouts were remotely adequate. The portions were so small I didn’t even bother asking for more because it seemed like such an uphill battle. The soup reflected the same stingy attitude on the part of the manager or cook: a truly tiny portion of beef in the soup, possibly the least I have ever been served in bowl of phở this size. The broth was bland and watery, as though they skimped on ingredients there too, or watered it down to make it last longer. If that was not enough, the noodles were also undercooked and had a hard rubbery texture, but at least that was just a cooking mistake and not about ingredient austerity. I find this type of restaurant experience particularly annoying. People go to restaurants and pay several times what the constituent components would cost them at the grocery plus a tip for the server because they want something special, and that means generous portions of quality ingredients. No one goes to a restaurant to suffer through bland food and skimpy portions because some cheapskate managers are obsessed with cutting costs. Boo.

Was really excited to have a new Vietnamese restaurant come in close to our house. This restaurant is located inside the plaza close to Casa Rodena Winery. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was how spacious and clean it was. The interior décor was also very pleasant. The staff was very friendly and prompt. Service was also great. Our waters were also refilled when the cups ran low. My husband and I ordered an order of spring rolls, chicken vermicelli, crispy noodles with chicken and a side order of phở broth. Everything tasted great! I really hope this restaurant does well. We will be frequenting this place often. P. S. The restroom was also very clean :)

Bahn Mi Sandwich… thats what I went for. Warm toasty bread… HOT jalapenos, cool crisp cucumbers, carrots and tasty pork. YUMMM! I think I actually like this sandwich more than the pork sandwich at Coda! It’s a little more pricey, $ 4.95, but just a teeny tiny bit. But its a HUGE sandwich! Also there is only one type of sandwich they offer, pork. The menu has a variety of noodles and rice dishes. Unfortunately, the area they are located is practically hidden. Meaning, you cannot see it from the main road, 4th Street. My friend got the Korean BBQ plate, see picture. We also ordered spring rolls with peanut butter sauce. Another winner there! Fresh cool tasting rolls with pb sauce and sriracha sauce! Service is a little slow, but friendly and helpful. Next visit I’ll definitely try the phở. :D

This new Vietnamese restaurant in the north valley deserves a try. Albuquerque is fortunate to have may choices for this type of cuisine, but it’s rare to find one in this part of town. Some of the most friendly and attentive staff, spacious, minimal, but colorful and tasteful. The food is quite good. Everything is incredibly fresh and artfully presented. Fair prices. We started with an order of spring rolls. Typical, but fresh and tasty. We then had the rare steak phở and the grilled beef plate. Everything was well presented and very good. My only negative was that the restroom was in need of some attention. It did not appear to have been cleaned and prepped for the day.

For a brand new restaurant, these folks are doing really well. This space has been the home of many failed restaurants, but finally, I hope, we’ll have a really good neighborhood place. I ordered #30, grilled prawns with rice noodles. Six well prepared shrimp arrived on top of a bowl filled with fresh pickled carrots, cucumber, bean sprouts and fresh perfectly cooked noodles. For under $ 8, a real bargain. Try the avocado shake, if you haven’t had one. Delicious. My spouse had the spicy lemongrass soup with vegetables and tofu. A vegetarian delight that was so generous that he couldn’t finish. Lovely service with a smile. Everything’s cooked fresh, so it’s definitely not fast food, but it’s worth the wait.

I am so happy that this place is open and in the North Valley! I ordered #70 and it was perfect, flavorful, fresh, lots of different ingredients and a good portion. They have a huge and affordable menu!!! I am so happy we get to be neighbors.
