Wanted to celebrate my birthday in beautiful Los Olivos and had dinner at Sides. Loved the intimate atmosphere, the warm, friendly, and attentive service, but most of all the FOOD! No fuss, seasonal, and delicious!

Amazing!!! It was my first visit to Sides and I went for my birthday with some close friends. We were told that it’s a busy restaurant and made reservations beforehand. We got there, got a wonderful greeting and seated right away. The server came immediately and we got our drinks and appetizer ordered. I had an amazing martini! We tried the calamari(delish), we also tried the white beet soup(my favorite) and we ordered their bacon cheeseburgers and whole wheat fettuccini with mushroom sauce. Everything was spectacular! We got a visit from Chef Michael Cherney and we had an opportunity to tell him how amazing everything was. He sent out this wonderful dessert for my birthday and we also ordered the mud sundae which was so delicious! I have never been to such an amazing place with a great ambiance and such helpful and kind staff. I can’t wait to go back! I wish I can give them more than five stars. You won’t be disappointed!

We are big fans of Sides! So much so, we drive from the San Fernando Valley just to visit! My daughter is infatuated with their amazing bacon. We’re big fans of everything on the menu! We’ve had the burger, the corned beef sandwich, the brussels sprouts, the pork belly tacos, and more I’m sure. Not an ounce of disappointment. Everything is thoughtful and well executed. The service is great and everyone seems genuinely concerned about your experience there. We’ll continue to make this a destination that we simply must visit regularly. Oh, don’t forget to make reservations; seats fill quickly!

Outstanding! Loved this place. Had heard about it from friends and family. Stopped on our way back from Paso to LA and it was definately the best meal we had on our getaway. The chef is very creative and the kobe beef burger was wonderful. Not to mention the bacon! You will never find a bacon steak like this, anywhere. We will definately be returning.

Why haven’t I reviewed this place yet? Honestly, probably my favorite restaurant. I LOVE this place. I think the location is great, the staff are wonderful and the food is out of sight good! They have a small menu but everything they make they put a lot of work into it. The food is fresh, delicious and inventive. The specials make coming here on a regular basis so much fun. I can either go for a tasty burger, an awesome entrée or something creative from the specials. I follow Sides on FB and they always have me excited with whatever cool things they are creating. I would and have recommended it to everyone I know. I am so thankful that I will in an area where I can come here to eat on a regular basis, even if I wasn’t I would still make the drive to come visit and enjoy some good food. You can’t go wrong here with whatever you order, literally everything is out of this world and worth it. Thanks to the FOH as well as the BOH and Chef Michael. This crew is putting out some amazing food.( Unilocal LA Challenge #36 of 100)

Always a treat to come to Sides, Hardware and Shoes. Appetizers are eclectic and very tasty. I recently had the 45 day dry aged steak special as the entrée and wow it was really good! The dinner selection is on the shorter side but you can’t go wrong with pretty much anything you order. Full bar with a nice liquor selection for the Martini lover. I’m not usually a dessert person but I always get dessert here with a nice cappuccino after dinner. Nice, relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere mix of locals and Los Olivos tourists.

Great place but I do have a complaint, the fried calamari is misrepresented. Call something what it is I am okay with that. Are order consisted of 4 pieces of calamari that we found the rest was fried onions and jalapeños. We have been there several times and over the course there are fewer calamari and much more onions and for the price it becomes an expensive plate.

Ordered the Brothers burger and it came out a little undercooked and way, way too salty. I could only eat half due to all of the salt.

Just had lunch here… I had heard great things about this place however I was extremely disappointed. We ordered our food then noticed our server never offered is the specials however she offered every table around us. My cob salad was ok but the specials she was offering everyone else sounded much better. My husband and I are here often and we will not be returning to this place. We will continue to go to Los Olivos café.

Decided to stop on Los Olivos on our way home to grab lunch at local restaurant. I have eaten here before and had a good experience every time… until now. My wife and I were made to feel like outcasts. As the only people with visible tattoos and her purple hair, the employees degraded us with their eyes and lack of customer service. As we sat, we waited almost 10 minutes before our server Jessica came to our table while other tables around us were visited multiple times and we were her only table in the entire tiny place to not be offered the specials. I’ve never felt like an outcast before and I must say I am extremely disappointed and shocked but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. As a local wine club member and someone who comes to Los Olivos often, I will no longer be going to or recommending this place.

Service was good, we didn’t have reservations on a Friday night yet we waited only five minutes. We sat at the bar, which offered a view of the kitchen. We started with the bahn mi buns, pickled veggies balanced out the sweet flavor profile of the sauce that accompanied the roasted bits of pork. Tasty, but the pork pieces were very tough, almost hard. My wife ordered the Kobe beef cheeseburger with fries. The beef was delicious, overall the burger was excellent. The only issue we had with the burger was that it was over sauced with the Brother’s «secret sauce»,(a lot like mayo and ketchup) this made the bread a bit too soggy. I opted for the diver scallops, which layed on a bed of fennel in a pool of a rich butter based sauce surrounded by pork belly they call«bacon steak». The scallops were seared very well, I can’t imagine how they did it. The dish was very tasty. However, extremely rich to the point of being cloying. I felt that the dish was in need of balance. Perhaps a side of vegetables or pickled veggies to cut the rich fat of the butter and bacon steak. I would go again to try other offerings.

Ask for the secret burger menu… You won’t regret it! The day we went, there was an incredible ½lb Kobe burger with fig and goat cheese. Best burger that I’ve ever had. This was a local recommendation, after the 3rd person, i had to go. I’ll definitely go again.

Love small towns. Came here on Mother’s Day with no reservations and got in right away for lunch for two. Ordered a decaf coffee — the best tasting coffee I’ve had. One of us ordered the hammered pig sandwich is fried goodness between bread. Yummylicious. The other order the chef’s burger which had chicken pâté, bacon, caramelized onions and some kind of jelly. Also very tasty though partner did not care for how sweet the burger was. Each of us had the side salad with homemade ranch — really good too. Was interested in the salads and the one’s I saw come out looked substantial, tasty and fresh. Would return again.

I was blown away by how awesome the Bacon Steak Burger was. Every meat lover should try it at least once in their lives. It is without a doubt one of the best three foods I have ever eaten. The restaurant has a nice vibe and is relatively expensive, but man… you just can’t beat the bacon steak. It makes other burgers tremble with their own inadequacy. Go there now.

Just when you think you have tasted your share of amazing food on your getaway to Wine Country, someone suggests you try«Sides Hardware & Shoes». You, naturally, reply WTF? Then something wonderful happens. You are treated to a festival of outstanding flavors like, the Bacon Mac & Cheese, Grilled Cheese sandwich with Copa, or the Hammered Pig Salad as we were & you are proven wrong! There is more. If you walk past this Gem, or somehow miss out on trying it, you lost out on a rare opportunity =) Bön Appetite

Came here for my second visit, this time it was dinner. Ordered quite a few dishes and they we all just below average and waaaay overpriced. The average dinner is $ 30 and not worth it at all. Fried chicken, $ 27. The chicken was a bit on the dry side. Scallops were $ 32. There were only 3 scallops with some over seasoned cabbage. Lamb slices, I forget but I think it was over $ 30. Not good flavor. Oh and if you bring your kiddos you can have Kraft Mac and cheese for $ 8. What a deal right? OVERRATED!!!

Bacon bacon bacon. Well, there’s no A/C, so we were bakin’ as well, but let’s forget how hot it was… the bacon was not only the best bacon ever — EVER –, but it is one of my favorite meat products because of the multiple textures. it was like a caramelized carnitas/pork belly jerky bacon steak. Get the bacon as an appetizer, or get the bacon burger, but eat the two separately to fully enjoy the bacon. Going to Sides and not getting bacon would be like going to Pisa and not seeing the Leaning Tower. Not cheap, but will return for the astounding food and great service, with a Western theme. UPDATE: Returned 10⁄15. Still hot in herre. Corn soup is perfect(but don’t expect chunky chowder style). Ordered my hamburger well-done, and they nailed it. Brown all the way through, yet still juicy. Having the bacon a second time, I have determined there is no better meat product than the bacon here, that it IS worth the hype. This product is why God created pigs.
