I had the duck, and it was really, really good; served with bok choy. It was a little bit expensive for the food quality in my opinion, but definitely a nice place to try.

I’m so sad to read that they lost their lease and their last meal will be served this week. :( Hubby and I dined here on Thursday evening in December for a date night. I never seen the Christmas lights at Vasona Park, so the plan was to go there after dinner. I loved the ambiance of Tapestry. Small, charming and inviting. When we arrived, it was practically empty except for the patrons at the bar. After hovering around the main entrance for a few minutes, we were seated at a table by the wall and near the bar. It was a little loud, but bearable loud. As the evening went on, the restaurant filled up. Hubby ordered the skirt steak and he really enjoyed it. I ordered a fish, can’t remember what kind of fish, but I really enjoyed it. Service was a little off and we had to flag a server for water or something or other a couple times, but it seemed there were only 2 people for the entire dining room(which included a large dinner party). I noticed the couple next to us took a long time to get their food or what not. They were almost getting impatient and I wouldn’t blame them. We both agreed we’d come back to eat there again. Unfortunately, that won’t happen. :(

I just dropped in for the first time for a business lunch. Tapestry was most ideal for the purpose, quiet and empty. Tapestry resembled more like a luxury residence than a restaurant. It felt cozy and sharply managed. I happened to be meeting an experienced chef/owner so his expectations were probably higher. The menu offered a very eclectic selection of Chinese, Thai, NOLA, Mexican inspired dishes, among others. I had the red duck curry sandwich. The pulled duck was very juicy in the curry sauce, resembling a sort of duck sloppy-joe. The curry flavor was hardly perceptible, which suited me just fine. My Diet Coke was a downer as the flavor was quite off, like the syrup bag hadn’t been refreshed in a while. Otherwise, the service was impeccable with the waiter and bus boy getting about their tasks without any disruptions. From time to time, I’d find my half-empty glass magically refilled. Plus, for the ladies, the handsome waiter is quite pleasant eye candy. We tabbed out at $ 65 with tax and tip for lunch for the three of us. I think I’ll be back for dinner next time as it held promise for a very charming evening.

This was my second visit to Tapestry… my first was a liquid lunch so the review on that was 5⁄5. This review is for dinner. We had 7pm Friday night rezzies and were surrounded by no less than 3 tables with children under the age of 10. Really? There’s this new thing, it’s called a babysitter. Spring for it. Food was good, not great. Better than what you can make at home, worse than a fine dining experience. We were interested in the«surprise dessert»(bread pudding)…our bus boy told us it was«eh». So we left and had dessert at our favorite place closer to home. Service was steady and helpful. Food was not bad. Little kids playing video games on their phones while you eat a $ 40 fitlet… ack.

Supported some friends who were playing at Tapestry, so that night the entertainment was absolutely superb! The service was excellent and ambiance was classy. We sat outdoors on a warm summer night and the outdoor patio was very pretty. As for food, I ordered the red duck curry because I’m a sucka for anything with duck in it. Even though the duck was pretty good, it was definitely over priced for the very small portion I received.

I love finding culinary gems. I had dinner here last night and left completely satiated. We ordered the samosas for our appetizer which were just okay. The description sounded far superior than what was delivered. Imagine Indian food and an eggroll. The orange cilantro yogurt dip was the furthest thing from yogurt; way too watery. I ordered the Duck and he the Pork. The duck, while not what I expected, was freaking delicious. Don’t be afraid of pairing red curry, coconut cream and shredded duck. It was pretty excellent. The pork was melt in your mouth tender but I really think the mashed potatoes and chorizo(YES!) was the star of the dish. I’m certainly not a wine connoisseur by any means of the imagination, however I was only familiar with two labels on their list of reds. Also, the wine list far exceeds their menu. They also have a full bar. I don’t have a sweet tooth, however the chocolate soufflé cake w/caramel mascarpone cream was niiiice. Also — if nights here were warmer, it’d be awesome to sit on the patio.

We finally had a chance to try Tapestry last night and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was fairly quiet even for a Tuesday evening but the weather was beautiful and the back patio made for a lovely place to enjoy our meal. The waiter was very attentive throughout our meal — bringing our wine promptly and making suggestions when food we wanted to order was unavailable. We started with the Cajun Popcorn(crawdad tails breaded with polenta) and the Duck Samosas both of which arrived fairly quickly and were hot and tasty. The crawdads were a bit on the chewy side, but my recollection is that is more the meat than the preparation. The sauces went very well with both appetizers. Our main courses consisted of a half order of the mac and cheese which we split, then I had the seared scallops while my boyfriend had the pork tenderloin. I found my scallops to be flavorful and well prepared, but wasn’t that impressed with the leeks. The pork tenderloin and potato hash were delicious so far as I could tell from my few stolen bites and my boyfriend’s practically empty plate. We ended by splitting the peach-blackberry pie. The crust on it was truly delicious and the fruit filling was well seasoned. The only downside to the evening was not being able to order the coconut panna cotta since apparently there was a refrigeration problem. The waiter kindly offered a free desert in it’s place, so I can’t argue much with the help the provided us.

Similar to the other reviews, I have to say that the atmosphere at Tapestry is very nice. It looks and feels like you’re entering someone’s home as you walk into the restaurant. The dining room has an intimate and cozy feel, with plenty of windows to allow for natural light. I came here for lunch and ordered the pre fixe meal. I had a salad with blue cheese and walnuts, skirt steak, and chocolate mousse. All 3 were good, but nothing stood out for me. The steak was a little overdone and salty for my liking. I may return again in the future to try Tapestry once more. I did notice that they have patio seating, so it’d be nice to sit outside on a summer afternoon and enjoy my meal there.

I am not a big fan of the ambiance. I usually like the intimate vibe of the smaller restaurants. However, the tables at Tapestry were so close together I almost felt like I was having a double date with the couple sitting next to us. That alone made this restaurant a less than 4 stars establishment. The food is a notch down compare to other finer diners at Los Gatos neighborhood and the price reflects this. This is probably not the best choice for a romantic special occasion dinner. It might not be a bad choice for casual night out.

Don’t get me wrong, the food here was good. I liked what I ordered, however, perhaps I’m just not cultured enough to eat at expensive restaurants because I do have a few qualms. Starting with the food: I ordered the sea scallop appetizer. The texture was perfect, and I loved the bed of eggplant it was resting on. The eggplant was able to hold a ton of flavor, so it went well with the scallop. Eating the scallop just by itself? Just okay. Then I ordered the roasted lemon and thyme chicken as my main course. Good flavor, even the white meat was tender. As I wasn’t too hungry, I only ate about half the chicken, so they boxed up my leftovers for me. To my dismay, when I opened the box the next day, my entire meal was jumbled in there, including all those large and small bones that I had picked off, cleaned, and put into a pile on the side of my plate. As for service, we had a group of 17 or 18 people, and we were celebrating a birthday, so I can understand service can be a little slower for such a big group. That I didn’t mind so much. Our waiter was pretty friendly and funny, and kind of random at times. The corkage fee seemed a bit high at $ 20 per bottle, though I guess they’re just trying to get you to order wine through their menu instead of bringing your own? A $ 30 cake cutting fee was also added to our bill, which was already ½ off. Wow $ 60 cake cutting fee? Our«cake» was homemade cupcakes that someone had brought, but we didn’t end up doing any cutting, nor used any of their plates, so that also seemed a bit pricey to me. Lesson learned: probably not the best place to bring a big group, but this place still has good food at a slightly inflated price.

I absolutely love this restaurant!!! My boyfriend and I have been here twice now and it was delicious both times. Their skirt steak is so tender and flavorful. My boyfriend got the chow mein, and it was amazing. It was a very sweet tasting dish. The waiter, kind of an older guy. I can’t remember his name, but he is so friendly and so nice. He had us laughing the instant we walked in. The food service is very fast and they have a great selection of wines. Frogs Leap sauvignon blanc is always a good choice. The place has a very intimate setting. It’s a great place to go for anniversaries! One of my favorite restaurants, especially in Los Gatos.
