This Yemenite food is good and unique! I hope this food stand stays around. The malawach pastry they use as the bread/wrap is really good. Soft and not quite like any other wrap material I’ve had. At first look upon recieving the wrap, I asked for more sauce thinking the first few bites would be dry and boring. — you know, the part with mostly wrap and no filling yet–(The extra sauce they gave was tahini sauce.) But not so! The bread or malawach pastry was really tasty in itself! I love veggie only dishes, but my husband and I both agreed that this would be great with meat inside!(Or the dessert option they offer with Nutella) Which they just have one chicken option which was at the bottom of the menu and didn’t seem like their specialty, and the rest of the menu items only have egg as the protein option. We got the«Sabich» roll, with tahini, hard boiled egg, eggplant, tomato pulp, and herbs. It was great! I loved the taste of the eggplant. It had a grilled/charred smoky taste to it. So a unique bold flavor. I didn’t regret the extra sauce we asked for. We definitely used it all up. I love all things saucy though and can only eat unsaucey things when I’m really hungry. All in all we were really glad to have gotten to try this malawach Yemen roll with yummy tasting eggplant at the farmers market! Something different from the usual bratwurst, sausage, Mexican, or typical fair food. I will be looking up malawach on google. ;D
