This is the best Thai food place I’ve ever been around my area. I’ve never ordered anything from this place that doesn’t taste good. This is my family’s go to Thai place. My favorite from their menu is the pork jerky And chicken coconut soup.(Tom ka Kai) it never fails us. Lol The service is great both dine in and take our plus the ambiance in this location is nicer than that of the one along Hollywood Blvd. My only thing that kinda dislike about this place(but doesnt bother me) is they don’t accept credit cards so you need to bring cash along with you but it is really worth the money.

Curry lacked any sort of flavor. We asked for every dish to be made spicy yet nothing was spicy. Pad thai was average at best. Great portion size though.

Excellent service, I only had the combination fried rice, but it was delicious. This is a great place to bring friends, family, or just casual dining. Prices are pretty low and I have no complaints. Thank you for the great experience Vim’s

Updating my pervious review to inform you all that after visiting again numerous times customer services has definitely improved! New servers have been hired that are very attentive and suggestive on good thai plates. I always thought they were a 5 star restaurants but without the customer service they really didn’t deserve it. Now though, they are back and better!!! Everyone must come here if you love thai food. I would love to keep it a secret and not blow it up but everyone deserves to know how delicious this place is! MUSTMUSTMUSSSSSTTRY!

IThe food is average, not the best but ok. The service was really bad, food was brought up one plate every 10 minutes. They only accept cash and no ATM around! Not the best place for a good Thai experience.

I love all the vim restaurant locations The food is freshly made to order and the atmosphere is friendly and Asian . Order the sea food special & ask for the home made chilly paste. They don’t like giving it out but if you ask they will give it to u. Cheap bastards with delicious food

I ordered a Togo over the phone and still waited 25 minutes for it to be given to me. I asked for water twice and still never received it. I can count at least 2 tables that came in after me, are, paid, left and STILL did not received my phone order. Terrible service and inconsiderate.

Not going to lie but I was super disappointed when i first entered the restaurant to look at the menu. A lot of the menu items seemed like Asian fusion food rather than authentic Thai cuisine, which is what I wanted. However, I scanned the menu for some authentic Thai dishes that I knew and they did have what I wanted(drunken noodles/pad kee mao) so I figured I would give it a try since I was already here. Came here to order take-out and the lady at the cashier was very nice. I didn’t know what the boat noodles were and it sounded intriguing so she helped explain that it was a soup noodle dish. I ended up ordering that and it was actually very tasty if you like tripe and other beefy parts(i think it also had liver and meatballs). the order was ready in 15 minutes and they packaged the noodles separate from the soup, which I always appreciate with soup noodles. While I was waiting for my noodles, I browsed the menu one more time and saw that they had thai iced tea and was suddenly craving that. There were 2 sizes, small($ 2 i believe) and large($ 3) so I asked the cashier lady if I could see the cups for the 2 sizes. the large cup was humongous! it was the same size as the take out bowl for my soup noodles so of course i had to order the large and I couldn’t have been happier with that decision. a pint of thai iced tea all to myself hehe! it was delicious, not too sweet. I hate when thai iced tea is overly sweet but this one was perfect. Glad I decided to give this place a try and i look forward to trying their other dishes. only thing to note is that this place is CASHONLY so bring cash with you! Also, the restaurant was pretty spacious and had a lot of seating if you’re looking to come with a group.

This is my favorite place for Thai. It is also my favorite Vim. It has the best décor. And it serves Thai beer. I am very particular when ordering and they meet my expectations. Wish they would take cards though. My favorite Vim dishes are: Pad Thai(Thai style) this isn’t the orangey simple pad Thai every Thai place makes. It is extraordinary. It includes tiny dried shrimp as well as plump fresh shrimp, ground pork, ground peanut, fried tofu, egg, and much more flavor than ordinary pad Thai. I am an addict. The duck curry is a great dish. A must try. On the spicier side I enjoy the duck salad. Their bbq beef is so good especially when served medium rare. As for soups Vim can’t be beat. Tom kha. 7 seafood… And the unique wonton shrimp and seaweed soup keep me coming back. I see plenty of people ordering Chinese rice dishes at Vim but can’t seem to figure out why they don’t try menu items that are Thai. Oh well more for me.

Not sure if it’s just been awhile or if my taste buds have just grown accustomed to ASAVA’s Thai food, but Vim’s just doesn’t seem as good as it used to. LOCATION&PARKING Located on N. Western Ave. in a small plaza. Look for the brightly lit red and white sign. Vim’s shares its parking lot with other surrounding businesses so parking can sometimes be a hassle. A rude security guard supervises the lot at night, so beware of him! AMBIANCE&SETTING Never dined in so can’t really judge the ambiance or setting. Very family-oriented cuz I see a lot of families there when I pick up my food. CUSTOMERSERVICE Can’t personally account for table service since I haven’t ate here, BUT Vim’s is consistently great when it comes to Take-Out orders. Every time I call to order, the employee repeats my order back and gives an estimated preparation time of usually 15 – 20 minutes. When I arrive to pick up, my food order is correct, hot, and ready. They also provide plenty of napkins, utensils, chili sauces, and soy sauce packets. **TIP: Vim’s accepts CASHONLY!!! FOOD Ordered Take-Out a few times now, and it’s basically a Hit or Miss when it comes to their dishes. Prices range between $ 6-$ 14. While Vim’s prices are considerably cheaper than Asava’s, the quality and quantity of their food doesn’t quite measure up. Here’s what I got on my most recent visit: Combination Chow Mein — $ 7.75 — Noodles with chicken, beef, and shrimp, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Sounds good, but was so bland I had to doctor it up with soy sauce and lemon juice. Good chow mein shouldn’t need additional flavoring! — Eh, SKIPIT! Beef with Green Chile Garlic and Mint Leaves — $ 8.50 — Pretty good, but very disappointed with the small portion size. You’d think if it costs more than the Chow mein, they’d give you more! — TRYIT! Chicken Curry with Coconut Milk & Bamboo Shoots — $ 7.25 — The BEST dish outta the three cuz there were adequate amounts of chicken, creamy curry, and a nice spicy kick to it. — GETIT! **TIP: Make sure you CLEARLY specify your Spiciness preference when ordering! While Vim’s is an efficient Take-Out Thai spot, their mediocre food really doesn’t leave me yearning for more so I probably won’t return anytime soon.

I love Vim’s Thai. It’s so crazy cheap it’s ridiculous. The lunch specials can’t be beat. I work just up the street at LACC, so it’s pretty convenient at lunch time. I see they are rated two dollar signs on cost. How did that happen? This place is almost cheaper than McDonalds. And the food is pretty good. I have to admit I haven’t tried the whole menu. I lean towards the lunch specials. And everything I’ve had was pretty good. This neighborhood has a lot of Thai restaurants, especially up on Hollywood Blvd., so the mediocre places quickly fall by the wayside. Vim has been around for many years and is always busy. They must be doing something right. Recommended.

Really not that great IMO. The service was friendly, but forgot to bring a lot of our things. The bathroom smells really weird inside. The food is just mediocre. Ordered the beef larb, shrimp tom yum, crispy rad nah, shrimp fried rice and pork jerky. Nothing really stood out, except for maybe the crispy rad nah, and not in a good way. This is just some poor attempt at seafood chow mein. The Thai tea was pretty good, but very sweet, if you’re in to that. During the course of my meal, there were 3 – 4 other full tables(15+ people) that sat down. None of them were Thai people. This should be a red flag for any Thai restaurant.

Absolutely LOVE this place. The food is always tasty and the prices are great. The only thing bad thing are their hours. It would be great if they would close an hour later on the weekends. Other than that, I would recommend this place to everyone.

YES! They opened another Vim’s restaurant with the same good Thai food and good service. Same owners and some of the same waiters from the Vim’s location off Hollywood Blvd. I’ve been a fan of Vim’s for many years now. I don’t just go for the Seafood Hot Pot, Fried Rice, Chow Mein like the usual clientele does. Vim has a lot of other good Thai food also. Pretty much anything you order ala carte with a side of white rice at Vim’s is tasty. I liked this location because it wasn’t as busy as the location in Hollywood. Vim owners, way to alleviate some of the crowds from the Hollywood Blvd. location!
