You can fill in the hollow spots here, but to expect anything more is setting yourself up for disappointment. I’d only eat here if I was hungry and had no other choice. The menu lists 99 cent hot dogs, but they never seem to have any. The salads aren’t too terrible, but only the smaller prepackaged ones are less that $ 5. One scoop of prepackaged tuna salad set inside a tomato was $ 2.99. That and a side salad of mostly lettuce with A(one) cherry tomato came to just under $ 5. Be prepared to pay for your drink refills on fountain drinks too. It was in the news a while back that a guy didn’t, and they had him ARRESTED. For not paying for a soda refill — like 79CENTS? Rules are rules, but that’s just insane, especially in a day and age where MOST places where you eat offer free refills. One last thing — their«potato logs» are just FOUL! Like they city get you sick, foul. I called a manager over and told him. He offered to give me my money back. I didn’t want the lousy $ 1.59, I wanted to make sure no one got sick! He said he would look into it, but I wasn’t convinced. Hospitals shouldn’t be creating more patients. Not over lousy potato logs.

The retail side isn’t too bad. They have a decent selection of electronics, and stuff you might find in Walgreen. However, this review is for the cafeteria whose food quality teeters between barely edible and decent. One veteran told me, «I can’t believe they serve this with a straight face.»

This place serves its function. There are a few stations where you can grab food if you don’t want to venture off the VA premises for lunch. However, the hours are short and it closes before dinnertime. Morning options are limited, although there is a Starbucks station where you can get your standard caffeine fix. The line can be long. Overall, a clean place. The prices are modest, but not super cheap, and the quality of food is OK. I’ve had sandwiches for lunch here as well as eggs for breakfast.

I visited the retail canteen for the first time and it’s awesome! Tax free! Dolce light blue perfume for only $ 44, and a 3 month supply of GNC vitamins for $ 10. Great deals I will be back.
