I’m just parroting what others said about Phil. For the $ 10.00 price I felt I got MORE than my money’s worth because Phil truly is meticulous and efficient. He pays attention to every detail when cutting hair. I saw the person in front of me come away from Phil with a good haircut, so I was confident he’d do a good job for me and he did. I like the way, as others have pointed out, that Phil doesn’t spend time babbling at all, didn’t say a word, nor did he leave the middle of my cut to answer the phone. I’ve been to inexpensive salons in Westwood and have had some stylists try to finish my haircut in five minutes or do a sloppy job, but I’m happy with my cut here.

Got a haircut from here a few weeks ago. Can’t beat the price at $ 10. Thought it would be average but Phil did a really great job. He’s very meticulous in his work and as others have noted is quiet. Will definitely be back.

Hole in the wall salon with $ 10 haircuts by Phil. Phil is a nice and quiet person. He doesn’t speak much English. If you’re one of those people who likes to share their haircut time with therapy by talking, this isn’t the place for you. He doesn’t care if you’ve had a good or bad day. He’ll just give you a good men’s haircut for cheap. Phil takes his time. He’s meticulous. A simple cut will take at least ½ hour, so if you see people waiting, it’s best to come back at another time. My hair is very simple and straight forward to cut. He does an excellent job. What I hate are the prissy girly-men customers in front of me. This place isn’t for you if: 1. Instructions for cutting your hair take more than 5 seconds. Me: Number 3 clippers on side/back and clip on top. That’s it. This isn’t some fancy salon where you’re being charged $ 100. If your hair requires major instructions, go elsewhere. Don’t waste his and my time for a $ 10 cut. 2. If you’re really picky after the cut and have to give further instructions. Some sissy guy in front of me has to say«can you cut a little more on the left cause I feel it’s a bit longer than the right side». OR… can you shape the top like«put your idiotic instruction here». It’ll take another 15 – 20 minutes(at least) of waiting time for the next guy. And trust me, he did it right. You’re just a pain in the neck. Remember folks, it’s a $ 10 cut. Phil has to earn a living. He can’t spend 2 hours on you for a $ 10 cut because your hair needs special styling or you’re very picky and never happy; or you have complicated hair. Be nice to him and tip him well. And don’t be a pain!!! A big thanks to Phil for his excellent cuts at a rock bottom price!

I got here Tues night @ 6:20. The is one barber. I been here over 10 years ago. The place is still a hole in the wall. However, it appears that they have added nails to the shop… Well I am here for a hair cut, so lets see when he will get to me. Now, 6:35, he’s still working on the other person’s hair. He is slow, but thorough… definitely quiet guy. 6:40, my turn. I’m done at 7:15. Phil is quite. Cut is definitely inexpensive. No better or worse than Super or Fantastic, but at HALF the price… made me feel good giving my money to local MomAnd Pop shop.

U get what u pay for. It is a cheap mani/pedi. I doubt the cleaniness & quality of products being used. Run by vietnamese ladies.

I visit Unique Nails & Hair regularly for haircut. The service is great and price is very competitive. Hanna and her coworkers are the best and most patient. 5 Stars hands down.

Dropped by the salon because it was right around the corner from my house — and turns out they’re open until 7pm which is awesome for those who can only go after work. Even though i was over an hour late for my appointment, they still let me in at 6:15 and Hannah was really patient, and careful, and took her time even though it was past closing. Got my French manicure for $ 10(AMAZING) on a Wednesday for a wedding on Saturday, and I don’t know if i was just insanely careful with my hands, but my nails are still fully intact, and not even chipped(5 days later)!

I’ve only been here for the haircut. They have a Sunday and Monday special for 10 bones, but it’s 13 otherwise. Be sure to call ahead to see how busy they are since there is only one barber. His name is Peter and he’s good. He’ll give you his card so you can call ahead, otherwise, you might wait a long time, especially on the 10 dollar days. He takes his time but his cuts are good. Even trims my bushy ass eyebrows.

Not a 2 star place, but not a 5 star one either. Closer to 3.5 actually. Went here for a haircut to take advantage of their 10 dollar special on Sundays/Mondays(usually 13 bucks). Only 1 barber there though; the other employees seemed to be more of the nails and feet persuasion. He did a decent job on my hair; good fade and though there was a couple of rough edges; nothing too obviously bad. If you need a simple, cheap haircut and don’t feel like making the trek south to Rio’s, this is a decent standby that’s closer by to the West LA/Santa Monica region. Be forewarned, as there is only 1 barber, if the place is packed, you might have quite a bit of a wait. There’s a good amount of meter parking, and if you are willing to walk a block or too, a good deal of residential parking. Planning on going back again to make a final decision on whether it deserves 3 or 4 stars.

I had a similar experience. It looks like a whole in the wall salon from the outside, which could put people off, but it was really quaint and personal. They don’t have the giant massage chairs, but the vibrating soaking bins. I went in for a pedicure at 6(I called ahead by an hour, but it wasn’t busy when I got there anyways). I decided to splurge and get a manicure as well, but to my surprise it wasn’t splurging at all– it was 25 dollars total! Anna did a great job and she even fixed a really short nail by adding a fake tip. For free! It looks natural too. When I called I asked if they take credit and they said no, only cash or check. That would be the only thing I could see deterring people, but for $ 25, it shouldn’t be a big problem.

~* happy feet *~ i used to always drive past this place but never went in. because i was in no rush to get on the road and head home, i gave this place a second look and decided i’d go and get a pedi. i called in ahead to ask for their closing time(7pm) and asked if an appointment was necessary(optional, but walk-ins are certainly welcome). yesterday evening when i went in, i was greeted by two nail techs and a barber. i sat and waited for a bit. they weren’t too busy, but they were already tending to their regulars. as soon as a lady named lee was finishing up with her client, she got me set up at a station and prepared my foot soak. lee gave me a veeeryyyy relaxing foot massage. aaahhhhhh. when it was close to closing time, lee didn’t rush to finish my pedicure. she was even nice enough to walk me to the door and told me that she’d stand watch and make sure i was alright as i walked through the back lot.
