Truffle Burger & Truffle fries are my fav! Every time I’m shooting photos in the Arts District, It’s a must for me to grab a bite here. There is a cool outdoor patio in the back that I like to sit at while dining. Just a heads up, be prepared to spend $ 20 for the meal. Burger, fries, & drink. But it’s worth every cent of it!

I saw a report on this place about two years ago, I wrote it down on my notes as a place I had to visit, and just last night I accidentally ran into and OMG! It is amazing, please try their house made jalapeño ranch, and their habanero sauce is to die for. The seating was fast, and the service was moderate but who cares when your food is amazing. I paid $ 60 for two burgers, fries, lemonade and a beer. So it’s not cheap but it’s a good price for what you’re getting. More than likely to return.

Went out to dinner last night at this location. I had the manly burger with fries and it was delicious! The array of different sauces they serve are also amazing. Their ketchup is my favorite. my waitress was attentive and and friendly, if I remember correctly her name was Tori. Umami Burger is one of my favorite burger restaurants and I’ll definitely be going back soon!

My boyfriend and I came here last night. The restaurant is quite small but when we went in, it took a while for someone to finally notice us and be seated. That’s probably because there were 3 larger groups and only one server running around as well as 3 other people sitting at a bar in the back. Once we were finally seated, our server was quite attentive to us, especially after the larger groups left. We had the truffle burger, Cali burger, and the truffle fries. All of it was really delicious, the truffle burger looks more like a plain burger but is packed with tons of flavor. The Cali burger is a step up from a normal cheeseburger with roasted tomatoes and their house sauce.(Which has a strong relish taste)

UHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-ma-mi truly! I came here wanting a good burger, just a good burger, no fries. I wanted a burger with a «Sunny Side» egg, a well made burger and I got one. I cut into the Sun and the rays oooze into the rest of my sandwich, truffled greens, the truffled butter, the crisp reggiano frico, the truffled aioli… For as I slowly cut a piece of the burger, greens, crisp cheese, truffled everything, the anticipation builds, I take my fork to skillfully pierce the stack, each component into the tynes, layered. I take a bite of this beautiful stack, my Pavlovic glands ramping, I taste it, my pupils dilate, my palate sexstatic… eyes close. Pause. Ahhh the burger made from heaven has come to earth. Silently, I thank the creators of this burger for getting it. I take another bite and I’m utterly convinced, they get what it takes to make a genius burger. Umami gets it. I smile. I Pause. I finish the sandwich, my soul, at peace until… I was checked… I still needed to complete the experience with the fries… Next time. I came here wanting a good burger, just a good burger, no fries… and I got one. Visits: 1 Tip: Parking sucks. Subway stop is 2 blocks away. Pie Hole is around the corner. Wurstkuche is next block.

So disappointed with UB. Went on a chilly sunday afternoon and was seated in the back patio, we requested to have the heaters turned on, and the waitress was extremely helpful and set them up. Unfortunately the heaters began to burn our foreheads and when we requested to sit inside, it took over 30 minutes(I totally understand if it was busy, but there were over 3 empty tables inside). Our food took over 45 minutes and all we had ordered were two Unami Burgers, no sides or drinks. Waiting for the check at the end took another 20 minutes! We were in there for 2 hours! The burger and food quality was great, but nothing worth 2 hours. The service was extremely slow and not always welcoming. I wouldn’t recommend waiting for this place and parking is difficult to find in this area.

I’m only 1 of about a million reviews but I’m going to give me $.02. These guys make a great product with really good flavor. The service was attentive but not overbearing and my lunch was really good. The price point is a premium for a burger($ 16) but the rep and the name is what you are paying for. I had the truffle burger because, let’s be real, can you think of a better way to enhance the flavor of a burger than adding truffle flavor. Parking sucked but oh well. I parked in the 20 minute spot across the street and risked it.

I’m terrible at writing reviews(I normally just check in), but as I’m sitting at the bar at Umami, my taste buds are going insane. Umami is a very small, intimate burger joint right in the middle of the arts district that’s more than your typical burger joint. From truffle aioli burgers to Korean burgers with kimchi, you have a solid variety to make your tongue orgasm. I got the Umami burger(recommendation after having my server choose from 3 of my options) with a half-order of truffle fries and it was phenomenal. The 4 sauces they give you prior help with that. It came out quick with a grilled«U» on the top bun and the shiitake mushroom completed the immense flavor. Service was amazing. The bar server gave me recommendations on places to go tonight, helped with my food choice, was generally friendly, and even kept cool as I choked and spit up a bit of my food with the Malbec I ordered. More than you get from most places. The only reason this is a 4 instead of 5 is because the beer and wine choices are below average. I’m not sure if the manager/owner just has a close-minded taste, is trying to save money, or maybe is appealing to a local crowd I don’t understand, but the options could definitely be more diversified(instead of multiple pils, throw in different styles, maybe another IPA, BPA, or something unique like a whisky barrel ale). No liquor either, which was an issue for me(burgers and cocktails go great together). Other than the personal alcohol issue, I definitely recommend Umami. Great food, great staff, and great environment. *Edited for typos and to go into a little detail about the alcohol

Yup. I messed up by not coming to this spot a long time ago, I’ve been missing out. The burgers are amazing and the sides are great too. This place is a must have so I suggest you get your nalgas down here. Great gastropub with a good beer selection. One downside about this location is the lack of parking. I mean parking sucks big time. I frequent the area in little Tokyo and DTLA, and parking on this side of town is bad. The upside of this is Angel City Brewery is across the street and a couple other popular spots with food are just a block away.

Went here Friday night and got the truffle burger and kbbq burger which is like a phở burger. It’s so good. All there meat is 100%organic to! They also have alternatives like turkey burger or black bean burger. I would defiantly recommend this burger spot. Then when ur done you can go over to angel city brewery.

Let me start off by saying this is my favorite burger place of all time. Now let me explain why: –Customer Service: As soon as you walk through the door your are greeted with friendly, happy employees who make you feel right at home. The servers here are attentive, quick, and efficient which is what every food establishment should have. –Décor: Once you walk in you can definitely see why this place is located in the arts district; the etching art work hanging on the walls and the innovative lamp work they have definitely fits with the arts district motif. –Space: This location is pretty big and has a back patio to that can hold larger parties or even if you want to have a little more private meal. –Food: Now time for the food! I’ve tried almost everything they’ve got and nothing has ever disappointed me: Their burgers aren’t ever messy, they are cooked to however you like, and they aren’t overwhelming. They are extremely juicy and each burger has their own distinct taste to it. They of course have other options if you’re not into burgers(which doesn’t make sense to come here if you aren’t), but it’s minimal. They do have an assortment of different sides to try from to compliment your meal. I’ve been to plenty of other Umami locations, but this will always be my favorite one and go to! Personal recommendations: Manly Burger, Cali Burger, or Hatch Burger. As for sides – Truffle Fries, Onion Rings, and Tots(you will have to ask if they are available, as they are not on the menu).

Not sure why but Umami Burger for me is always one of those places where the food tastes good when you’re eating it but I get really sick afterwards. My friend took me out here for my birthday and I ordered the turkey burger with butter lettuce. In the past I’ve ordered the edemame and mushroom burger. Burgers that are, ideally, not that rich right? My friends ordered the smashed potatoes(delicious), spiced donuts, and a combination of the standard Umami burger and the manly burger. All of the food is amazing as you’re eating it. Very, very rich but good. However both times I’ve had Umami I end up having really sharp stomach pains and feeling extremely nauseous. The food is just so ridiculously rich that I think even the healthier options like what I’ve ordered can be pretty bad. My siblings and a lot of my friends love Umami – it’s just not for me.

Umami is always a great spot for a delicious burger, and this Umami is conveniently located near Little Tokyo. My fav is the Truffle Burger. Accompanied with some cheesy tots and fries, you’ve got a delicious meal! Table service is friendly and prompt. Parking on the street.

Umami Burger is definitely a big part of LA, and it’s great that they opened up a branch in DTLA Little Tokyo area. Unlike most other branches, there is almost never a wait here(hint hint!). To be honest, my friend and I decided to come here only because the line at Wurstkuche was ridiculous, but we both really like Umami regardless, so it worked out nicely. F O O D: First of all, I gotta point out that the size of Umami burgers are pretty small. If you have a huge appetite this will definitely not fill you up but for most of us even though it looks pretty small I’m sure you’ll feel satisfied. I definitely recommend getting the sides – specifically the Truffle Cheese Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, or Onion Rings!!! My burger recommendations are: Umami, Truffle, Manly, Sunny Side. S E R V I C E: The service here is pretty good! Servers were friendly and our food came out promptly. I do want to point out that my friend and I ordered one order of the truffle cheese fries to share but the server misheard and gave us two orders. When we corrected her she told us it’s totally fine we could have the other one for free. More fries? Um, yes please!!! P A R K I N G: Parking can be kinda tough during busy dinner times. We paid $ 10 and parked at one of the lots nearby.

I’ve been to Umami Burger in Anaheim next to the Packing District, and I ate a full meal at that location. As for this one, my friends and I only shared an order of fries during social hour. I can’t say much about my experience, but I’ll touch on it a little! My friends and I were exploring downtown LA – being little SD tourists – and really needed to go to the bathroom. To be honest, that was the main reason why we went inside. We felt bad and one on my friends was a little hungry, so we ordered truffle fries off the social/happy hour menu for $ 3. I think we would’ve ordered more if we hadn’t just ate, of course. Regardless, the waiter was this nice, young blonde guy that always checked up on us. I know if I were a waiter, I would be disappointed to find out a table I’m tending to is only sharing an order of fries! He always filled our waters and made sure to make us feel welcome. If I’m ever in the area, I would definitely come back. Umami is good, but it can be pricey. Good thing there’s a happy hour!

Good Ol’ Umami never disappoints when it comes to the burgers. This was my first visit to the Arts District location. I’m all about the Manly Burger but wanted something new and tried the Hatch Burger… Amazing!!! I think its safe to say I’ve found my new burger at Umami however the Manly burger will always have a special place in my heart LOL. The maple bacon fries were just as delicious as I remember them being when I first tried them in Anaheim and the beers were nice and cold on this warm day. Umami still bringing the goodness. This is the 4th location I’ve visited. Dinner 7÷12÷2015

They change so many things on their menu its really disappointing. First of all they don’t have any coke they switch for Pepsi they don’t have the poutine style fries anymore. Me and my husband were coming here only for this. The service is ok depends which server you get. The truffle burger is still good thank god. They don’t have any lunch menu or special no happy hour. A lot of restaurant offer burger in this area so next time will go somewhere else

Muy buenas hamburguesas. La ensalada Cesar de Kale muy rica. Mis favoritos los pepinillos rebozados y las batata frita. La música hoy era un horror, pero el sitio está genial.
