This place is absolutely great. From the performers and shows that I have seen, to the general atmosphere of the theater. Everyone is really supportive and there are a lot of talented creative people at the theater. I like to think that the Improv Space has so much potential to become a more well known comedy spot in LA. The last time I went there last I saw Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock, one of the my favorite shows of all time. Aside from him, I’ve seen Jonah Ryan perform regularly, from VEEP, and there are a lot of Buzzfeed people that perform too. Basically, if you want a laugh, or want to take classes, this place has an amazing environment for it. I just finished level 3 with Ben Crutcher and he, along with my other coaches, are all so great. If Unilocal wouldn’t cap stars at 5, I would be more accurately given this place 10. You’d never get this kind of comedy and community for 5 dollars for an entire night. It is a smaller theater, but it can make for some great moments. My only thing is that I hope people donate to keep that theater as awesome as it is now!

Small, but really nice venue. If you want a chill local night of open mic, improv, spoken word, etc. You can find it here.

All the cash I have, I spend at the Improv Space. Usually here Thursdays and Fridays and the improv teams are stellar. For $ 5, the shows are superb but it definitely depends on the night. Overall if you’re looking to spice things up with the SO, Improv Space is a good choice. Also they always play rad music in between sets

One of my favorite places in LA. Really talented people and a really good price. Most shows are $ 5 or free! Wednesdays are the jam, literally and figuratively. Thursdays and Fridays are when the main teams play and they’re all really fun. And there are just lots of shows for improv and stand up… All the time, you just have to check :) Oh and you can rent the place out too

Best comedy show in LA! I’ve been to the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Store, and the Melrose Improv, and this place is like a million, no, a billion times better. And it’s a billion times cheaper at just $ 5. Thursday night is my favorite but they are all amazing. Also best place to take a date. Pick up some in N out or some Bella pita and sit back and enjoy some comedy.

This is truly a hidden gem. I come here all the time by myself just to get a laugh. Everyone there is extremely friendly and welcoming. Most of the shows are free or 5 bucks. You really can’t beat the price. I recently seen they offer sketch writing courses and improve courses at really reasonable prices. I think I will be taking one of them really soon. A plus about this place is you can bring in your own foods and drinks. They really want you to be comfortable. If you go, don’t forget to put something in the donation bucket they have when you first walk in :). I say this place is a must see if you are looking for a fun night out.

I’m a fan. You never know who(or what) you could see inside the Improv Space. Most nights shows are cheap or free.

This place is pretty cool. I mainly come here to see shows if my friends are in them. I have come without knowing any of the acts, but it’s not the same experience as going with a group to watch your friends. Support this place! –Tej

I came here for the open mic on Mondays from 9 – 11 and it was an incredible show! The talent is incredible and filled with some awesome regulars and many new folks. There was even a Dutch comic! Best part? FREEFREEFREE. Even better? The most you pay for shows any other night is 5 bucks. You cannot beat that anywhere around. Theater is small and intimate. It’s got all of the amenities, including a bring your drank policy. Don’t miss out.

For those out there who aren’t sure about this place, check out Thursday night. Five bucks at the door, bring some friends, grab some munchies and chill out. The Thursday night teams are hilarious, but if there is a time to show up, be there before nine for: The Wait List and MANCAMP I didn’t know too much about improv and decided one day to take their level 1 class: First off, it’s easily the most REASONABLYPRICED improv theater in LA where you will get some legit training. There are some free ones out there, but it’s tough to really learn anything there or feel like you’re growing. I am speaking from experience. Secondly, everyone is welcoming, supportive and wants to see you succeed, so it was easy for me to instantly fall in love with improv. Six months later, I’m doing improv every week and loving every second of it. Unsure if it’s for you? Give it a shot. Seriously, there is nothing to lose and don’t be that guy. Take it from me. I’m no actor nor am I somebody who has been in the improv world forever, so this place is excellent for anyone who wants to discover something new and fun like improvised comedy. Also, 100 billion baby seals cry every week you don’t come.

If you like comedy but don’t want to pay a lot, the improv space is right up your alley. $ 5 gets you 2+ hrs of comedy, the Thursday and Friday night house teams are great– they offer different styles so no 2 shows are alike. It’s got a great young vibe and everyone is super nice. Also if you check in on Unilocal or on Facebook they’ll give you a deal on tix.

The Improv Space is a great place to play, to learn, and to see shows. The audience is very supportive and welcoming for people who are new to improv, and there are shows almost every night of the week. It’s very convenient from UCLA and the Westside, and there’s even some street parking available by the time most of the shows start, which is insane for Westwood. Highlights: Wednesday night jam @ 9 pm – without a doubt the best improv jam in Los Angeles. The sets are longish(about 10 minutes) and the number of improvisers on stage at any one time is small, which means everyone gets a chance to play. House Team nights(Thursdays and Fridays): The Improv Space House teams put on great shows! The Early Late Nite Show with Hunter M. Altman(3rd Saturday of the month): A weird, wacky talk/variety show, hosted by a man who should never, ever host a talk show.

This place is a hidden gem, and I’d recommend anyone interested in getting their feet wet in comedy to start here. It’s an extremely welcoming and supportive environment completely void of pretense. Take an inexpensive improv/sketch class, get on the mic on Mondays, jam on Wednesdays, come see house teams perform on Thursdays and Fridays. Promise it’ll be a really good time!

I took classes here and I’ve been to many of their shows. I can honestly say I’ve never been to a show and left disappointed, which is something I can’t even say of UCB. The consistency of good performances is great because you know you’re never wasting your money(and at $ 5 the price is already as low as it gets). The classes are great for a person who is just getting into improv or someone who wants to refresh their skills. The instructors were all very kind and helpful. I took all three levels and boy, am I a blast at parties now! But seriously the classes were fun.

Really warm atmosphere. Despite being a small theater the teams here are so talented. I’ve seen a lot of the performers at other big theaters like UCB. I love to spend a night watching shows here($ 5 for all night!!) This is the absolute best thing you can do for fun in Westwood. If you go to UCLA or live anywhere nearby go see a show here. Great work guys! Lovely theater!

This place was not funny at all. We came in for a show because my college roommate was taking the comedy classes that they offer and he wanted us to check it out. They have different groups of performers go up throughout the show to perform and I’d have to say that probably 1 of the 4 groups was even half good. Out of our group of 6, I think only 2 genuinely enjoyed themselves. The rest of us had an awkward time navigating around my friends question of «well, who had a good time?» Not me. GIVEMEMYMONEYBACK!

I’ve only been here a handful of times, but I want to become a regular. if you only have 5 bucks and want an evening’s worth of entertainment, you’re in luck. I’ve seen a guy get crowdsurfed. I saw a guy play the trombone and the guitar at the same time. Once, the audience broke out into song. You’ll never know what’s going to happen, but rest assured it’ll be epic.

The Improv Space has added a bunch of nightly promotions to make their shows even more affordable! I love this! Wednesday is Student Nights — Free entry with Student ID Thursday is Ladies’ Night — Free entry for women Facebook Friday — tag TIS in your status for free entry Soup Can Saturday — bring a nonperishable food good(doesn’t have to be a soup can) to donate to the Westside Food Bank and get in FREE! Do good and have fun. TIS was already a great bargain at $ 5 a ticket, but this is even better!

We went to see a one man show on a Sunday night. It’s a tiny, tiny space in Westwood Village. I’d say it seats roughly 40 people. It’s cozy, the seats are comfortable, and parking is reasonable(try the streets first, then the $ 3 lot behind the theater). I’d go back again.
