Bukowski’s Demise and beer bratwurst. Excellent food, excellent whisky cocktails. And enjoyed both listening to Led Zeppelin. Can’t wait to come back and try something else.

VERYSTRONGDRINKS! Even for the happy hour deals! I ordered a vodka tonic and it was a vodka with a splash of tonic, I was on my way to a Dodger game so I wasnt complaining, just kinda hard to drink. The place has a great ambiance and I liked the seats next to the open windows. My brother had a whiskey ale he enjoyed it. They are known for their whiskey drinks & variety of beer on tap, one of the only bars in the area so they was a plus too.

Last night was my first time there. Got a great seat in the corner(they had pillows for the wooden seats, which was cool). They have a jukebox, so a steady stream of fun music(70s, 80s, 90s) was playing. Our waitress was friendly & took our order as soon as we sat down. The Lucky Buddha Lager was pretty tasty! The beer prices are really reasonable & they have a good variety to choose from(beer, wine, lots of whiskey…). The locals around us were really fun to chat with too — bonus. Good vibes! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it’s pretty loud in there & you kind of have to yell, to be heard(maybe the music, the acoustics, or both). Cool place though. Really enjoyed it!

Great low-key bar to hang before or after shopping on Melrose. There’s beer, WiFi, a TouchTunes jukebox, and an open front so you can sit on the ledge and get some sun and people-watching in. My friends hung out here while I walked around and shopped for a bit. Loved that it wasn’t crowded or loud; that neighborhood cozy vibe is what I’m all about. :-)

Pretty cool place to grab a drink after walking around in melrose. What’s awesome is that they have happy hour on the weekends?!? YESYOUHEARDRIGHT! I came here on a Sunday. Their beers on draft were also pretty decent selection. I was acrually extremely impressed that they had magic hat on tap! Service was pretty good too.

This is a great place to have a few drinks and chalax. It’s my 3rd time visiting this bar, prices are the same, drinks taste great and the service is awesome, they also have food. You should definitely try the pizza. The bartenders a really cool down-to-earth girl with some tats and she has a Jack Daniels bandanna didn’t get her name yet. But she makes great drinks. If you’re in the area you should make stop and have a drink at this bar. If you are a whiskey drinker this is your spot if you want beer on tap they have about 15 at least.

T or another bar manager needs to make some changes to the description of this place. Numerous times I try to call here and place a pickup order and they aren’t open. It’s 3 o clock on a Saturday afternoon. It would help your business to just have information be proper rather than long time customers attempting to get some food and only being disappointed by no one being there. The kitchen always closes early, the prices have been warped on their burgers(used to be $ 11 add anything you want) and majority of the time the kitchen still manages to fuck up my order. I have been going to this place for almost a decade and it just seems like they have been blowing it for the last year. It’s got great booze selection, but if this place is never open except at night time, just change your hours. It’s not that hard. Also on their website: they don’t have prices for half of the items of food. Seems pretty deceptive and it saddens me that a wonderful bar is turning over from an excellent dive bar with amazing food to a dive bar that doesn’t run properly and the kitchen is always never open. Just change your hours already. Pretty fed up of being in the mood for one of your burgers or meals and then I just end up going to fat burger instead. Maybe a «fire» should happen again and you can collect the insurance and let a more functional bar reopen. Get your shit together Snake Pit

My friends and I have been coming here for years. They have really fantastic happy hour specials(and a happy hour that goes until 8 pm people! 8PM!!) and some of the best pizza in town. I mean, you can put up to 6 ingredients on that pizza and then any additional ingredients are only $ 1 each. That’s pretty amazing by LA standards. However, the wait staff can be extremely hit or miss. A few months ago, one waitress helped herself to a generous tip on my friend’s credit card so yeah, not cool. Last night though we truly had the greatest service I have ever had there, or almost anywhere. Dana R’s her name and being awesome is her game. She checked on us regularly, was incredibly kind when we accidentally knocked over a glass of water and made sure we got one last happy hour drink in before it ended. Later that night, when it was just her behind the bar and tending to the tables, she STILL managed to make sure we never had to wait for anything. I think she is an angel and should train every single server in the world from now until the end of time. They also have a fantastic jukebox but beware — it’s pretty loud and if you hate the buyer’s musical taste, it can make you want run out into the path of an oncoming bus.(I’m talking to you Red Hot Chili Peppers guy. If you really want listen to them, just turn on KROQ and give the rest of us a break.)

Used to go there a few times a month. After the fire it wasn’t the same. Happy hour is a joke — unless you like deception. Sure, you pay a lower price for«Happy Hour» beer but get served in a smaller glass. How is that happy? Haven’t been back but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve switched to false bottom«pint» glasses — the kind that look like pints but they’re maybe 14 ounces.

I’ve been hitting up Snakepit at least since 1993. It’s a great place, not quite dive bar, not too fancy. It’s great to see that there are always really nice peeps working there, in the bar and at the door and apparently, in the kitchen because the bar style menu is actually very tasty and uses top notch ingredients if you’re picky. My one very gentle complaint is that management should think about removing the Death Metal selections from the jukebox. Someone loaded it up with quarters and away it went until we were chased out of there. Can’t wait to go back on a gentler night. :) To send it on a positive note, the drink specials and beer and a shot selections are great too! If you found this review helpful, please click USEFUL! I appreciate it!

Totally dank — unpretentious. Brie told us her middle name so we can win a scavenger hunt. Bouncer was awesome and super friendly. Also accommodating to scavenger hunts

I walked by this place a few times before committing to it, I am so, so sorry. The bartenders were really kind, and knowledgeable. My friend wanted a good whiskey and one bartender really knew her craft. I, just wanted beer. I started with my usual(Allagash white) and eventually tried a Porkslap ale. I now have a new favorite thanks to this place. When it comes to food, they lightly touch traditional gastropub foods. It’s more comforting than extreme, which is a-ok. I had the carne asada tacos, and was not disappointed. The chef knows what they’re doing, and I can appreciate when someone isn’t afraid to give their meat a bit of tlc(giggity). My friend had the bacon mac and cheese. It was served with penne pasta, which was a nice twist. My ONE issue, is that there were two tiny pieces of bacon on top, of a small textbook-sized plate. *weeps* The cheese sauce was really good however, so if you get it plain, you’re still in for a treat. Bonus points for open-air design here. My hippie heart was swooning over the window seats.

What little cute spot for a quick drink after shopping. I walked in there and I asked for a great drink. The bartender Bree was such sweetheart she recommend me a drink called melrose and Sierrabonita. What a delish. Will come back soon.

I’ve been meaning to come here since moving to the neighborhood a few months ago and last night we finally did. I was actually expecting it to be more divey but I wouldn’t even classify it as a dive bar. I would say it’s more of just a local bar. Clean place in a good location with good people who work there. I liked their draft selection and they had a wide variety of whiskey and other liquors. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. It was the perfect amount of busy as all the seats were taken(we squeezed at the end of a table with another group) and only a few people standing. We ordered the bacon mac n cheese to snack on and it was good. Will definitely be back

My favorite local dive right now. Only, it doesn’t have the negative features a dive bar normally has. There aren’t any bad lingering smells(or people– ha!) that I associate with a dive bar. They have a fantastic selection of whiskeys and draft beer, and I usually enjoy one of their whiskey cocktails for $ 10. A $ 10 cocktail is cheap for Melrose too, believe me. I can’t speak to the food, but the drinks have always been wonderful and the bartenders are very attentive. The bar itself isn’t huge, so seating can fill up quick on a weekend or even late on a week night. I’ve been tempted to try a flight of whiskey here or one of the rare or fancy whiskey selections they have rotating through. The bartenders are knowledgeable on the topic, if you want to learn about the subject. I like that the cover of the drink menu even breaks down the differences between whiskey, scotch, and bourbon for you. I like bringing friends here to start off an evening or wrap up a night out.

I was getting my phone repaired across the street so decided to stop here for a late lunch. Had the veggie burger with fries. The burger was huge and delicious. I had it with vegan mozzarella, mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce and tomatoes. It was a huge burger and very tasty. It was spicy as well. The fries were super good. Seems like they had garlic or something else on them. If I wasn’t driving or going to work out after, I would have had a whiskey — they seem to have a huge stock. The server was friendly and attentive, and he was prompt. I’d like to come back with friends.

if I lived in LA this would probably be a favorite hang out of mine. Our server Shanon was absolutely fabulous. She let us taste several beers before making a selection and even took a beer off our check, unrequested, when she saw that my friend wasn’t really enjoying it. For a bar, the food exceeds expectation. We got the meatballs and tacos. Tacos were decent but the meatballs were so good we ordered a second round. The marinara was fragrant with sage and paired perfectly with the creamy Parmesan sauce. I could eat those everyday of the week. Overall, Super personable staff, extensive selection of beers and whiskey, good food. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

I appreciated this place so much more when it was a grimy dive bar and not trying to compete with the hipster, Melrose-chic that it’s geographical location would imply. This used to be a great Hollywood dive bar, the kind of place that even on what should be a busy night, you still wouldn’t have too hard a time grabbing a drink. That vibe is no longer there and as this bar as shifted to a more upscale tone, it has lost its usefulness to me. If I wanted something more upscale, there are plenty of other options in the area for that.

There’s a new school jukebox in this piece! $ 9 beer and a shot special! Old School arcade Pac-Man video game. Now that we got that outta the way, what else can you really ask for from a neighborhood pub? This is a bar. Not a lounge. A throwback ‘Cheers’ type of bar. With clean bathrooms. Crowd varies from all ages and ethnicities. Real friendly place. Only been here after 10pm. That’s usually when you’ll find bartenders serving drinks to the brim and dancing through crowds. Not everyone knows my name here(Cheers reference) but one of the bartenders does! Which is good enough for me. Lisanne is her name and keeping you content and entertained is her game. If you’re fortunate enough to have her as a tender — her energy will make it hard for you to leave your stool. Dim-lit(at night) with two enormous size widows to throw in a fresh California breeze. Stop by if you’re around. Oh yeah, happy hour from 3pm-8pm, daily.

SUNDAYFUNDAY!!! This bar is conveniently located on my favorite street and in between my favorite shopping spots… therefore the agenda of my Sunday Fun Day: 1) SnakePit 2) store 3) SnakePit 4) another store 5) SnakePit… get the idea? Hahaha, drunk shopping on Melrose on a beautiful sunny day in LA is ALWAYS a good idea. The bartender is unbelievably sweeeet. JUKEBOX! Guns n Roses — Paradise City always gets me in a good mood. My favorite thing about Snakepit has to be the open windows that allows you to feel the warm sunshine and the cool breeze all around. Happy hour starts at 3pm = $ 4 wells.
