I love this little gem; especially since parking is right across the street in the garage. The bartenders are awesome, the crowd is eclectic and its an all around good time. But, there are some dead nights BUT I really like them. Dead nights meaning, its not packed with tons of sweaty people. Overall, good spot!

I had a great time at Silo in October 2014. Hosted my birthday party there while I was in town from DC and the staff was amazing. The bartenders were friendly and the upstairs area was great for my intimate party. Love the vodka freezer and the DJ was great. It was a Friday night and I will definitely go back to Silo while in DC.

I made reservations through Unilocal a few days ago for my birthday last night. To my surprise, it was CLOSED when we all arrived. I tried to call multiple times in advance to confirm the reservations, but could not get ahold of anyone and there was no voicemail. And nothing on their website, Twitter account, Unilocal page, or automated message indicated that they had closed down or were under construction. WTF? Why were they closed at 8pm on a Saturday night? And why did they take my reservation? This is ridiculous. Thanks for the heads up, Silo! NOT.

I’m writing you off. I’ve been to Silo several times now. I couldn’t really put my finger on why I wasnt crazy about it. Although, the experiences weren’t anything to rave about it didn’t warrant a bad review. But I’ve given them my last chance. I’m a vodka soda girl, they make the worst one. How is that even possible? Flat soda. Too much ice. Waitress was great, bartender was aloof and uninviting. Too many great bars and lounges in the area to put up with lackluster service. Music was good. Love that there is a DJ spinning. That was the only good thing about Silo. Come here for a two star experience.

Private grand opening party?* *only open to anyone alive at the time of the event. The bar is still ok as far as dtla boutique bars go, but peel back the veneer and there’s a lot left wanting. I was«invited,» as a dtla resident, to the grand re-opening today at 4pm with the promise of $ 2 Angel City brews, freebies, and specials all night. So no specials, no freebies, and only $ 2 «regular» Angel City beers on the patio(which turns out is the oktoberfest). None of the bartenders could tell me what type of beer«regular» actuallly was. Nice? Yes. Friendly? Yes, but not A-game. FOOD: I know it’s not Silo’s fault, but I miss the old food partner with pork belly what-nots and interesting other flavors. Hummus Republic’s hummus was bland. Falafel was gritty not crunchy, and the sauce was light heartburn spicy without any actual flavor other than«creamy.» TL;DR cheap beer(for now), cool space, but disappointed by the changes. Grand Opening not that grand.

Silo got a makeover, and the place is quite the looker now! I came for a private re-opening party and got a sneak peak at their redesign and new menu! I’m not a vodka drinker, but Silo expanded their booze list and is no longer just a vodka bar. They have a new cocktail menu with fun and innovative drinks, AND now you can order food from Hummus Republic next door! Whattt?! So awesome. + The East Los Sour– My favorite cocktail of the night! It’s such a delicate and smooth drink with grapefruit & lime juice, agave nectar, egg white, tequila, dark chocolate shavings, and a flamed orange twist. The presentation is beautiful, the flavors are married so perfectly, and the orange twist is a WINNING touch! + The Bluebird — vodka martini with blueberries and sage! This was delicious. It’s made with fresh blueberries and you get a little bit of the pulp in the martini which is nice. And the sage really compliments the drink. + Raj In A Pickle — cucumber vodka with rose water, elderflower liquor, and old raj drygin. I was expecting a sour drink because the name had«pickle» but it taste like fancy alcoholic spa water. Really refreshing! + La Californita — Lime & grapefruit juice, plantation dark rum, liquor cherry! I adored this drink. It’s smooth, light, fresh, and citrusy. A fantastic cocktail that pays homage to California. Tastes like a vacation. + Campfire Stories– I had to do it! Chocolate bitters, brown sugar, campfire whiskey, and torched marshmallows! HOLYSMOKES it was actually really good. A little too sweet for my preference, but they really nailed this one in the head. I loved the smokiness of the whiskey with the chocolate bitters. The melted marshmallows are fun to eat as well. +The Street Car– a fun twist to the classic«side car» — I loved the cinnamon sugar rim and the freshness of the lemon juice. The drink tastes like a holiday! + Luck Be A Lady — cherry heering/grand mariner blend, single malt scotch, with vanilla. This was probably my least favorite drink, surprisingly because I LOVE scotch! But it was wayy too sweet and wasn’t smooth. + Irish Mule — I’m not sure if they just made the drink realllllllllly well or not, but I couldn’t even taste the alcohol. Or maybe I was just drunk already. So honestly, I don’t know how I am even a functioning human this morning. I drank soo much and KTFO when I got home. Thank gawwwdd Silo is just a stone throw from my apartment. The staff and bartenders were also AH-MAZING! They were conversational, friendly, and EXPERTLY got me drunk. #DTLAdinnerClub

Before finding this place, I thought I was alone in the world in my love for vodka. Everywhere I look, it’s whiskey bar of some sort. i’m also a sucker for creative menu names like«Unemployment check//four dolla holla» Walking in, the atmosphere was busy, but chill, I liked the outdoor seating option. I opted for a Ginnie the Pooh, the bartender who served us was rude so I’m going to assume my drink was heavy on the lemon juice and low on the gin because of her. THERE’S A FREEZER? ANDUPSTAIRSSEATING? Clearly, I need to come back and explore again. And increase my sample size as to wether or not their drinks are watered down. For science’s sake, of course.

I’ve been here a few times and I always love coming here. The drinks are always good. I got the risky business last night which is the perfect drink for anyone who loves fruity cocktails. It’s vodka, with a hint of lime, bits of strawberry and basil. It’s seriously so refreshing! And its served in a cute mason jar. The staff and bouncer are always nice here. Their food is great too; It’s been about 6 months since I last ate here so can’t remember what I had. Nevertheless, I left satisfied. There’s also an upstairs which has a small bar and a few more seatings. On fri and sat there’s a live dj that plays upstairs. You’ll meet professionals, working people here so if you want to go somewhere to avoid the college kids, this is the place to be at. There’s also a small outdoor, patio seating area… perfect for the smokers.

Silo is a pretty neat place. Street parking is usually free late night and they have structures around the area also. Service was good the two times I have been here. Silo has two levels. First level is a normal bar set up. Second is a lounge area with a walk in vodka tasting refrigerator area. They also have a DJ playing music. The tasting is pretty interesting. They give you jackets to wear inside. The vodka is nice and cold. Not a fan of vodka but it was cool to try. You can reserve the lounge area for a parties but there is a minimum that needs to be met. They also have other liquors other then vodka but the selections are limited. Cool spot for parties.

Living in DTLA area, I was pretty excited to try this place. Might be circumstantial, but our bartender, the short-haired woman with tattoos covering her arms, definitely ruined my first experience here. We came into the bar pretty late into the night. sometime after midnight. I understand that the bartenders have had a long night and have been dealing with all sorts of annoying customers all night, but it’s no excuse for ignoring your customers trying to get your attention. When we first came into the bar, the crowd already seemed to die down. There were three bartenders working the bar. One guy seemed to be running around trying to make multiple drinks as this short-haired woman with tattoos and this other guy wearing a plain white t-shirt stood there in their own little world hanging out in the corner doing absolutely nothing. They definitely were not on break as I confirmed with the working bartender. We spent a good 10 minutes trying to get one of the bartenders’ attention when clearly whatever they were giggling about was more important than doing their job. When the woman finally came to take our order, she acted as if she JUST noticed us when we had been waving frantically at her for about 10 minutes. We even made eye contact a few times when business was slow, so yes, she definitely knew we were waiting to order. It gets even worse. After our first round of drinks, I tried to get this woman’s attention again by holding up a slight peace sign. She walks over and I request an order for the toot-it-n-boot it cocktail. She comes back with TWO drinks and when I told her she made a mistake because I only asked for one, she blamed me saying I held up a «two» signifying I wanted two drinks. AREYOUKIDDINGME?! The music was loud, sure, but unless I specifically ask for two drinks, why in the world would she assume I meant two orders? I simply asked for an order of the cocktail. She winds up charging me for both drinks even though I insisted I asked for one drink and gives me the«this is your fault» face. What a charmer. On the positive side… This bar ambiance has a very modern and sleek feel to it. The bar has a good selection of unique vodka cocktails and the prices weren’t too steep. Prices were around $ 10-$ 13 a drink. pretty standard for a bar like this. We ordered the vodka gummy bear cocktail and the toot-n-boot-it martini. The drinks were fine. but I was too occupied being upset with our bartender to even care much for the drinks.

Came here for happy hour. They don’t really have anywhere that they list their happy hour menu, prices or specials. They just say they have them or provide a discount which is a little annoying. On the plus side it was taco tuesday so all tacos were $ 3. I tried the Ahi and Pork Belly. Honestly I would have never known if it was Ahi or what kind of protein was in it. The Pork Belly was unfortunately dry — nothing really special at all. OH and if you order chips and pico they just dump all the pico on top of your chips. I tried the Gummy Bear martini and it was incredibly sweet, same with the moscow mule. Definitely not making stiff drinks here. They also didn’t have several of the red wines on their wine list and even though Sangria is listed on their drink menu its apparently only available during brunch. A bit disappointing, but I will say service was good.

This bar is so modern and sleek. It’s a treat the minute you walk in the door — well lit(dim) and lots of tasty vodka cocktails. Vodka happens to be my favorite liquor, so maybe I’m biased. However, I really loved the innovation in the proffered cocktails, such as a cute yet delicious gummy bear cocktail. It actually has gummy bears in it, and has a slightly sweet yet not overpoweringly so taste. I definitely recommend it! Haven’t had the chance to go in the frozen room yet, but eventually I will. The atmosphere is really nice here, can’t say it enough. Go upstairs, there’s nice, modern furniture that makes it great to just relax and chat. Highly recommended bar! *****

Not really what I was expecting. Much smaller than I thought. Have to dodger like 5 bums who try to make conversations with you and makes it very awkward. It’s a nice dark bar. Drinks are pretty high downstairs. Like the idea of all vodka. Have some good creations. Don’t love the service. Won’t be back really Upstairs they have a cold room to taste some vodka shots. They details are murky they don’t really explain. They just throw you in and make you pay way too much. Don’t like that Not as cold as you think. They have a bunch of varieties of vodka. Try the fruit loop one! Pretty expensive though and good to try once if you got money to drain

I would always see this bar and had heard a few great things about it. Walked right in on a Saturday night and to my surprise no cover! The place had a DJ playing some funky songs(R and B mainly which is different from other places around downtown now a days) and the vibe of the place was very different than I was expecting. I expected it to be more mellow, lounge like rather than some random bar. The bartenders were really really friendly and fun to talk to while waiting for your drink. The drinks all have really cool names such as Gin-nie the Pooh(super cute drink with gummy bears, gin and of course honey), Future Ex Husband(vodka, grapefruit juice and salt. yes salt!), and When Cherry Met Sally(like a moscow mule). The martinis are awesomely named as well such as Count-Vodkula, Pear-adise and my favorite of the night… the Bubble Gum martini. All the drinks were strong and tasted pretty good. Unfortunately the Gin-nnie the Pooh wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Maybe there was too much honey in it because it was a tad bit sweet rather than gin-nie. The drinks are all pretty affordable too and if you are on a budget, they even have the a shot of their cheapest vodka called Unemployment check for you to take hahaha. I didn’t get to check the upstairs freezer because for what I understand you all gotta take a minimal of two shots of vodka to hang in there. Unfortunately most of my group of friends weren’t down for that so sadly we had to pass that experience up. Hopefully stop by here again. I wouldn’t make it my main bar but def a place to start the night. #59/2014

I came to Silo Vodka Bar after being at a different bar for a while. I’ve heard of Silo before as being the bar that has a walk in freezer where you can take shots. Sounds cool, right? As we walked up to Silo it was a little crowded, but there was no wait and no cover. Once inside they have tables where you and your friends can sit and chill. We went straight upstairs where the DJ is and also the vodka freezer. The upstairs is more of a lounge with bar stools along the window and couches along the side. I like the upstairs since you can look downstairs. The vodka freezer is pretty awesome, but in order to go in everyone has to do a 2 shot minimum. Some of us didn’t want to since we were supposed to sober up instead of drinking more so we just chilled and ended up ordering some food and drinks. The food is brought over from the place next door. TLT food has some great and creative menu items. We ordered the carnitas fries and the blue crab cheese melt. Both tasted delicious and are great if you’re trying to sober up. The DJ here was awesome and the food was great, but this place was just way too small. I used to think the bars in Hermosa Beach were small, but this place is pretty small. I mean, if I came here for a friends birthday, we would probably take up the whole second floor! Even though it was small, I would definitely come back to get my drink on in the freezer and then grub on the delicious food and dance to the hip hop and R&B music that the Dj is playing!

Nice bi-level bar that is exclusive to vodka… well not really, but close enough. I ended up going on a promotional night so there was only one type of vodka being showcased. The drink menu featured three classics: a Collins, a mule and ruby red. I had the Collins and even though they were not using natural mixers e.g., fresh squeezed lemon juice, etc., the drink was not bad at all. This I think is a testament to the mixing ability of the bar keeps. Service was pretty good, I felt cared for by the server. My one complaint, or discomfort if you will, were the stools. The stools were a bit off-balance and uncomfortable. I kept switching stools, more like playing musical chairs trying to find a good comfortable one.

I found a receipt for Silo in my wallet the other day and was like, «What the fuck? When was this? I don’t even know where this place IS.» I thought about it and thought about it, something itching at the back of my brain. And then I realized ahhhh yes, I remember this bar, kind of. I was slightly hammered at the time, hence the missing memories, which also explained why my credit card receipt looked like a handicapped four year old had signed the thing. After pondering for awhile the details started to come back and what I remembered, I liked. Kind of swanky, modern interior. Dark wood on the floor and ceiling, stone walls. A few well placed plants, the green contrast was working. I really like the design. Most importantly though, obviously, the cocktails. My beverage of choice: Professor Plum — Plum vodka, honey, lemon, and grapefruit. Very, very good stuff. You know the cocktail list is a good one when it’s difficult to make a decision. I’d easily come back here again, probably will. The bartendress was very nice, the drinks were good, the place was easy on the eyes. Those three things are the trifecta required for a good bar, and Silo has it.
