On first glance it looks and feels clean and crisp… fresh and open… they didnt have my first beer in stock that was on the menu, but I didn’t mind, I had just picked one at random. It’s pretty quiet in here, but not alot of people are out today, anywhere. It seems like they’d need to be alot busier to figure out how good their service is. I pretty much have my own waitress.

My previous review praises much of the food here, especially the pad thai. The service is great and friendly… but then i decided to order take-out. It took a really log time to arrive. The food was definitely not on par with the in house experience which is absolutely delicious. This is pretty consistent with most reviews.

The thing about these kind of joints is you never know what to expect. The staff is friendly but pretty slow. Lunch took an hour and there were only 4 customers! Not sure what would happen if they had a big lunch crowd. The food was OK. I had shrimp pad thai and it was pretty good. The pad thai and 2 beers came to $ 18. bucks for lunch. Like I said the staff is friendly. Another customer told me on their way out that they liked the green curry chicken dish. Also I know it’s been hot in LA but it was pretty warm inside this place too. No fans, no air conditioning. Just big open doors. May be a cool place to dine in the winter with the doors open during the rain.

This place is terrible. It took over an hour to deliver my food via eat 24 and the mixed seafood plus meat didn’t have any meat. The seafood was terrible and made me sick. I wasted $ 20…

This meal started off really well. Ordered delivery. Arrived pretty quickly. Took everything out and got so excited to try the Banana Somoza Ice Cream(basically vanilla ice cream with fried banana wontons) we ordered, so we ended up just eating that first. Definitely a great dessert. Loved it. Then moved on to the Cream Cheese Wontons, which I also really liked. Unfortunately, getting to the main dish, I ordered Kal Bi(Korean BBQ Style), which is supposed to be one of the favorites? Strongly disagree. It was practically all fat, and I’m talking to the point where I could barely eat any of it. If that’s not bad enough I found not one, but TWO hairs in it. I’m a hairstylist, so for me its not THAT gross, but I’m sure most people probably wouldn’t be too thrilled. Probably won’t be ordering from here again, unless its for that dessert.

Not Bad! Pad Thai was pretty good. Yellow Chicken curry was OK — was a little thin and kind of more flavors of Indian curry than Thai curry. Crab Rangoons were crispy even after delivery.

Worst delivery ever. I had some sort of salad that ended up being bitter, slimily overdressed and topped with some wort of gross meat product. Then I moved on to a ridiculously small portion of over dry orange chicken. ewww. Delivery took over an hour even though they ‘estimated’ 30 mins.

So I live right around the corner from this spot and I went in probably the first week they were open. Very reasonable prices, all sporting events shown on their tv’s, cool jarms they serve drinks in. Garlic thai chicken wings YUM! Chicken salad is amazing and that dressing they use really makes it! Right on the corner of sunset and gower… stop in you will not regret it and bring some friends… PS great selection of beers!

I love this place. i don’t know why more people go here. Yes it’s pricier than other Thai places but I love the big serving, fresh ingredients, friendly service and a huge ice coffee cups.

An industrial Thai restaurant slash sports bar tucked on an not quite Hollywood-Hollywood strip of Hollywood where none of the doors are the same size and all the food is one price, the beers are pretty cheap, and confusingly for happy hour you take a dollar, and a penny off everything. Everything on the menu is $ 9, so that’s an easy thing to keep track of. There’s some explanation that 9 is the Thai lucky number whereas 7 is the American lucky number and you think, it must be the Thai lucky number because you just got two extra dollars out of me. But no matter the prices aren’t bad. Beers run $ 4 – 5. I met some Thai-food inclined friends at a meeting ground in the middle of our two outposts at a place that would let me watch my Lakers game. The food was better than my Lakers that night, which is to say one was consistent. The drinks worked, and they needed to. I sat right across from the bar, across from the only tv that appeared to be on – out of quite a few large screens. The thing is – the place was DEAD. Dead. Looks to be closed from the outside dead. You guys should probably buy lights for your sign dead… Quiet. Pulling your chair in made a sound that closely resembled the sounds effects used in a car chase. Or perhaps the long drag of a chair in an interrogation scene. It was all a little disconcerting. And the Lakers weren’t doing well. At least the drinks and food worked.

Cool Thai bar buried in Sunset. It was empty when we were there(Thurs night) but we enjoyed a few beers in front of the big TV and watched the Lakers get embarrassed. The food was good, the brown rice that came with my orange chicken was better than the chicken(compliment on the rice, not a diss on the chicken). However, I’ve found better Thai food a few blocks east for a considerably lower price.

Safehouse is quick, yummy and consistent. I also fear that they won’t be around for very long, but I’ve hosted 2 events here and it’s been wonderful everytime. They don’t charge for venue, they let you bring in your own music, décor, etc and I was even able to negotiate on the price per plate, since I’d brought in such a large group! Everyone who came to our last event RAVED about the food, the restaurant and the ambiance! Amazing place!

I found this place on Unilocal and my family and I went there on a Sunday afternoon. It was dead – and I couldn’t understand why. The place has a nice feel to it, there are large tvs, and service was good. We ordered, pad thai, pad see ew, short ribs, green curry, and sweet and sour fish. The noodle dishes were by far the best. The others were good but nothing extraordinary. The prices are very reasonable, almost everything is $ 10 or under.

…Sigh… Unilocal rarely leads me astray. But I really don’t know what happen here… maybe the Gremlins were hard at work @ The Safe House on the day of my visit… this is barely a 2-star establishment. The service was sub-par(albeit, hilarious in an unintentional sort of way — the waitress took my order then completely spaced on asking my friend what she wanted and just walked away). Don’t get me wrong, she was very nice — someone I’d love running into at a local coffee joint and having a conversation with… but waiting on my table, I’d respectfully ask for someone else. The beer list is long but nothing special and is all stuff that can easily be picked up at a well-stocked Pavillions — really nothing particularly bar-sy about the selection either considering its all bottles and no drafts. The food was ok at best — I would be content with takeout in a pinch but wouldn’t dare put it in the ‘good’ caliber. The analogy of an overly oaked chardonnay comes to mind — floating on the coattails of banal palate numbing flavors that avoid having to develop any real character/flavor. We had several things and they were all unbalanced, overly simplistic(I’m pretty sure the sauce in the Spicy Macaroni was just pasta sauce out of a bottle with some sriracha mixed in), and way too sweet even when we ordered spicy. Overall — I don’t think I’d go back and if I did, I’d do it secretively to avoid any further damage to my ego and only with the intention of confirming that things really were as bad as I remember them to have been.

Wow the food here is the bomb and if you don’t like your food spicy then you better mention it prior to ordering. My friend’s salad was so spicy he couldn’t eat it. But I love spicy and even though my eyes were watering and my sinuses were clearing from the all the spiceiness, I happily ate mine! The portions are huge. I ordered seafood and noodles and I had enough for 3 people. I ended up eating it as left overs the next day for lunch and dinner!

After adventuring around various parts of LA on a Sunday night, the bf’s tummy started grumblin’ and we realized it was time to find some food — and fast. Safe House popped up on Unilocal ‘nearby’ and we decided to give it a try. First off, I’m not sure if I would go so far as to call it a sports bar, but it definitely isn’t your typical Thai restaurant. Beer is only served in bottles, but boy what a selection. I’m not sure I’ve been anywhere that has that extensive of a beer menu before. I do wish the list were organized someway besides alphabetically because I’m not an expert on beers just by name, and I don’t just want to blindly choose something.(Thus I ended up with a blue moon. not surprising.) Food menu isn’t extensive, but does span the gammit of typical thai dishes as well as some more fusion-y items. We ended up with chicken pad see ew(I asked our server which between the beef and chicken she would recommend) and yellow curry chicken with(awesome) brown rice. The food was fresh, arrived quickly, and was quite delicious. Portions were typical. Service was prompt and friendly, though our server was relatively quiet. The place was empty besides us and another pair of diners, which from other reviews seems to be the norm. I’ll probably be back… if it’s still around!

I totally agree with all the reviews that were posted about the Safe House. I am legitimately concerned that this place will go under. Every time I walk by it’s empty! Annnnnd I stopped in on a Saturday night at about 8pm. 8pm and there was only one table of people. From the looks of it, you’d think you just made the wrong decision coming here. But their beer list was extensive and will satisfy even the pickiest of beer snobs. The food was good. I had the Panang curry and it was the most lackluster dish at the table, but still good. I tried my friends’ dishes as well. One was fried chicken in a green curry and the other was the spicy macaroni. I liked them both more than mine, especially the green curry. Very flavorful! I was so happy to spend only $ 9 per person on food. Super reasonable! There are lots of TVs so you can watch the game and there’s free parking out back by the Arby’s. I want more people to go to the Safe House so it doesn’t go the way of the Yen Yen!

I feel very much the same way that just about everyone else who’s written a review feels about this place. It’s clean and cozy and the staff is incredibly warm and friendly. It’s a great place for large groups. We’ve been addicted to the Massamun Curry since our first taste of it. This restaurant is an absolute gem. Support it with all your might!

A Thai-food bar with craft beer? I love the concept! The place was empty despite having great food, cold beer and a football game on. The place is super-clean, I hope they do well, I would love to come back. I got the fried rice and was impressed that they carved the sausage into cool little shapes just for presentation. I wasn’t expecting much from a bar but it was delicious. If you check them out, there’s plenty of parking in the back. Auf.

Just saw this place opening today it’s pretty new and sleek design. I went with my friend to try it out after seeing this place being in the construction from my previous favorite restaurant Yen Yen Café that went out of business. The menu is simple… and everything! Literally everything is all 9 dollars, simple to the price. I tried out 3 of their dishes tonight, Spicy Macaroni, Salmon Salad, and some chicken noodle soup. Spicy macaroni… thank god I chose this, and it is my favorite! It’s literally macaroni noodles stir fried with tomato and thai style sauces with ITALIANSPICYSAUSAGES and bell peppers. Seriously??? Italian sausages… I hate those who really make fushion foods sometimes, but this dish is so good I remember it more than any other. It has slight sweet, salty, and spicy from the sausages, the bell peppers gives it a refreshing crisp. The dish is very big, for 9 dollars, this is quite generous and most importantly it’s in my books. Salmon salad… I am not a salad fan, but my friend wanted it. It is decent, however I think they rushed it when the fish goes a bit dry for my taste, I like soggy salmon fillet, but have to say its real fresh w/o any smell at all. Again, that wasn’t my dish, so I made sure my friend ate it all. Chicken noodle soup… this is like asian rice noodle soup style. I don’t really care too much for those, but again my buddy insisted he wanted to try. Thank god he did, the broth is interestingly suttle and smoothly delicious. Usually some asian noodles have heavy soup, but this one is light. They also put in filleted chicken that seems to have been marinated so tender… I finished the chicken first. Now the crazy part of this dish the most is… they also add FRIED chicken tenders into the soup, which makes it soo good with a bit of crispy and sweet oily finish. At first I was repulse because usually oil from fried things in a soup will make me go bland and force me to order soda, apparently not for this case. If you need some winter warming moment, take this soup.
