Rick’s Drive In and Out

Since moving to LA, I’ve definitely come to have an appreciation for authentic tacos. However, being a midwestern girl, my love for hard-​shelled ground beef tacos will never go away. I’ve tried to find a place that could satisfy my craving for them whenever it popped up, but so far, I’d been unsuccessful – until yesterday. Totally by chance, we stopped at Rick’s for dinner, because the place we wanted to go to was too far away, and Rick’s was right in front of us. I got the hardshell taco place, and they were far and away the best such tacos I’ve had since coming to LA. Like, seriously, the beef was so flavorful. As for the sides, the beans were great, and the rice was amazingly tasty. Yeah, I’m mainly judging the place on one main item – but those tacos reminded me so much of the ones I loved back home that I don’t care. Wish we didn’t live so far away from Rick’s, because otherwise I’d be going back on a regular basis.

I was so upset that Xris was closed. We went to two other spots I was like hell no and my mom and sister convinced just pick this spot LOL So we park, walk in and I’m like interesting. Don’t know if we go to the counter or sit and get served. Plus there are a bunch of pictures of the food they serve as well. Quite confusing. The lovely young waitress said we can sit and she’ll bring us menus. We sat down and looked over the menu. Pretty large menu like most mom and pop fast food spots. I wanted breakfast and Mexican food LOL. So I got a breakfast plate and a taco HAHA.
My plate consisted of white toast, hash browns, bacon, sausage. Great value for the food. The bacon was your typical fast food bacon, that thin, crispy microwave type bacon LOL. Everything else was super fresh and seasoned well. No complaints at all. Just a solid mom and pop fast food breakie. The taco was well stuffed. I just wanted one bite and I gave the rest to moms. She loved it and the salsa went well with both my meal and the taco!
I don’t recall my mothers meal but she had no complaints, at least I don’t think she did LOL. My sister loved her little burger and fries meal. When she’s happy, I’m happy! All in all. It was a good back up plan meal since Xris isn’t open on Sundays!

if you have been to any of the other Rick’s you know what you are getting. If not they have a wide variety of inexpensive breakfast and lunch specials. pretty much can’t go wrong with anything!

This place used to be really good till they changed owners about a year ago. The whole menu is different and not what I expected.

The have a pretty nice customer service, fast, good taste, nice price, I do recommend, It depends on the occasion. ;)

I don’t usually do this, honestly don’t go here! This place sucks! The food was like so artificial. I ordered a french toast special: 2 pieces of toast, half an egg, and 2 sausages that came from the freezer. Not even the okay brand, but the sucky brand. It was like some soft shit in a brown bag.

Walked in sat myself down girl eating in the counter comes up to us with a full mouth chewing, hands us the menu doesn’t say anything no how are u, can I offer u guys something to drink or all be right with u, just goes back to sit down and continue eating and I was like what the f*** first of all there 2 girls working there look like there 15 years old .so I sat for like 5 min she didn’t even come back just waiting so I just got up and left and there girl cleaning had a smurk in her face so unperfessional it’s embarrassing so ricks owner u need to step it up in ur service !!!

My husband and I found the need to kill a couple hours so we decided to find a place to eat while we waited. Ricks drive in was nearby so in spite of some of the negative reviews we decided to go ahead and try it. The negative reviews were right on target. I ordered the pork torta which was so dry and bland I finally gave up and let my dog have what was left,(which was quite a bit.) My husband’s hamburger was also dry and tasteless. The chili tasted like it came out of a can and the French fries were bland. We will not be back.

WOW this place super sux expensive and greasy fries looked soggy from the grease that blows go to mc donalds. That should say more than enough this place owes me some stars I give them none won’t even crash my car into this place. Burger is stale and over cooked

I came here last Saturday (April 26). First I would to say the 3 star go for the service witch to me is was some of the best I’ve had, but the taste gets a 1 or maybe ZERO I didn’t l found flavor on anything. I had Hamburger and chili cheese fries my wife had a wet burrito and our son a corn dog. y burger didn’t even had salt and the chili like and tasted dry. My wife said the burrito tasted like caned chile. Finally my sons corn dog looked like they just microwaved it. Will I be back most likely not.

This place is absolutely disgusting. I’m shocked to see they have an A rating. Besides the usual flies you find at this «restaurant» today we were treated to an extra tasty treat. Right near our food there was a f***ing dying cockroach on the window sill!!! That is unacceptable! All the staff offered was to move us to a different table! They didn’t even bother to remove it immediately all they did was stare at it or ignore that it was there. They also had the audacity to bill us upon our departure. I will be contacting the health department on this matter. So if you like your food with cockroaches this is the place for you.

Burgers here are fresh and big
They used to have the best chili cheese fries until they used tasteless and frozen potatoes I hope they change this

I’m consistently addicted to the bacon cheeseburger here. It’s so good. I also think the staff here is super friendly. I’m not a big fan or the usual burgers and quick Mexican food but this place I don’t mind at all :)

I’m so addicted to their food! I come here 2 – 3 times a week. Everything I order is soo good! This place place is a must try!

Went here for the first time and it was good. The only thing they need to work on is the communication and the way they greet people. My mom and I walked in and they saw us but they didn’t greet or welcomed we picked out our own seat (they didn’t escort) and then we wondered if we had to go to the register to order or someone was suppose to come to our table. A nice lady eventually came to take our order. The food was very good and fulfilling and service wise for food they did very well they were very nice. I recommend this place for something fast casual day.

I like the food here but I don’t like how it’s next to a gas station. Cheeseburger is great.

Ok food. Just the locals brag about this place. Taking 15 mins for order that was ok pastrami and fries in a empty place. Btw they charge you for using your debit card, extra for a refill, I’m surprised I didn’t charged for grabbing some chili peppers

Cruising down the street… oh never mind wrong song… lol.
I fell like it was out of a movie, there were tons of low riders as we were approaching the burger joint. Upon arrival we noticed all the different types of food they offer, not only burgers :).
Food was ok and service was not bad considering we were only 6ppl at location. Burger was classic — really nothing to brag about. Chili fries were pretty good and very cheesy which is a plus on my book. Onion rings were thin and crispy just the way I like them. there is only one complaint I have and its not much of a complaint but more of an observation — the young lady on the counter seemed pretty sad/​shy. We asked her a couple questions and her answer was «here is the menu» we were like OK, I get it… ha-​ha!!!
Over all its an ok place for a quick bite.

They put green beans, corn and peas in the Chile Relleno Burrito. It’s was odd but not terrible. I’ll come back and try the burger. Very nice people here.

Stopped for a potty break here, and felt slightly obligated to purchase something for using their restrooms.
Me: So what’s good here?
Her: I don’t know. Everything.
Me: Okay… so is the chicken or beef quesadilla better?
Her: Both. Chicken. I don’t eat beef.

The quesadilla was wrapped like a burrito and served alongside with obviously packaged sour cream and guac. The tortilla was nicely toasted but the chicken lacked flavor and more cheese. The tomatoes in the quesadilla also took away from the cheesiness.
Meh, I’ll wait for the next rest stop next time.
